Well here in Canada, just under 85% of the active cases left are in Quebec. Every other province has more recoveries then active cases, some have no active cases at all. My home province only has 8 confirmed active cases left, and we've gone 10 days without any new cases, and our risk level has gone down.

The problem is people are acting like the pandemic is already over. I mean I don't think people should panic or anything. But we still need to be cautious. Instead we got people acting like they don't need to social distance, laughing at the restrictions, and acting like the whole thing is a scam. Yes a scam, the Canadian government started a scam about a virus that started in China, and got all the other governments of the world in on it. The logic of some people really has me wanting to pull my hair out.

Release a game, then release a patch update with... DRM.

It's not DRM, it's an anti cheat. Which is even worse cause it's an even more trivial software to be installed on kernel level.

I am glad id Software is completely separate from Bethesda.

It's not. It was bought by Zenimax years ago, which also owns Bethesda both as a publisher and a developer. Which means that every game developed by id Software WILL have Bethesda as a publisher. Sad but true.

This. Seriously, I don't think they thought that one through. Why would all these governments across the world, governments that have NEVER all agreed on anything, agree to run a pandemic as a scam? People like that seriously make me want to get off this rock (or preferably shoot them off of it and leave the rest of us in peace. The number of them that happen to be anti-vaxxers too... Funny coincidence, I'm sure.)

Current rant/thought: Funny how all the people who had so much to say before are silent now that I've put the ugly truth out there. I don't know whether to be disappointed, ****ed at the hypocrisy that they might have actively avoided seeing it, or wary.

Saw people in our local park yesterday all sitting down together having picnics and sharing beer with other households no sign of any social distancing at all. Also cars full of people from multiple households dropping people off and picking them up in my street and even people I work with saying they are holding BBQs later in week and got friends/family coming round but its ok because its outside.... :banghead:

Newsflash: "Artistic freedom" and "deliberate design decision" sometimes means game developers doing things you don't like or disagree with.

From my experience browsing gaming forums, concepts such as "artistic freedom" and "deliberate design decision" are only brought up to defend a fanboy's favorite features but the whole logic is tossed aside for stuff these fanboys don't like.

These fanboys should just come clean and admit that they're simply selfish, hypocritical f***s.

It's a scam. But it's not Canada's scam. It's China's scam against U.S. Yes, it's real, but the thing is... U.S. signed a treaty with China, and that treaty says that China wouldn't have to keep their end of the deal if there was a pandemic. (An "Act of God" pandemic)

(The problem is, it's going to cause a global war - ahem; World War 3)

Don't think for a second that the pandemic is gone. I'm not. In fact, the second wave is said to be coming September or sooner, and it will be worse. There are even research saying that COVID19 has mutated. So, the second wave will have that virus, rather than the first wave.

Idiots. Really.

It's not DRM, it's an anti cheat. Which is even worse cause it's an even more trivial software to be installed on kernel level.
Isn't Denuvo supposed to act as a DRM mechanism, alongside anti-cheat?

It's separate. It's just owned by the same parent company. From what I understand, both Bethesda and id act independently from each other. Doom has the id Engine and Bethesda has their own engine.

Denuvo was only a DRM till recently. But they have also been developing an anti cheat which launched with the Doom Eternal update.

Well yeah, but that makes it so Bethesda Softworks is id Software's official publisher. As such, Bethesda has power over business and creative decisions regarding any and all of id Software's games (case in point, the decision of implementing Denuvo anti cheat, as they do have a deal with them) and profits off of them. Wouldn't call that "completely separate", by any stretch.

You're probably getting confused with Bethesda Game Studios, which is the development branch of Bethesda, and yes, those are the ones that don't really have anything to do with id, they work on separate projects, use different engines etc. Gotta keep in mind Bethesda has both a development and publishing branch.

Kinda like Activision's studios and Activision being publisher.

With all its ****-ups as a developer, you could at least say that Bethesda is a somewhat decent publisher. Until the Denuvo Anti Cheat update for Doom Eternal.

That thing installs itself at kernel level on PC. MAJOR cause for concern. If you have the game on PC, my suggestion is you uninstall it as soon as you can.

**** Denuvo. Messing games up ever since its inception. That wasn't enough for them so now they wanna mess with your entire computer for good measure. ****ing pricks. **** off.

Looks like it will be gone soon.

"Despite our best intentions, feedback from players has made it clear that we must re-evaluate our approach to anti-cheat integration. With that, we will be removing the anti-cheat technology from the game in our next PC update."

I despise "fast travel" menus that are significantly different than the actual game map.

You always find yourself needing to check the map and fast travel separately, because the fast travel menu does not have the same info as the map or is even a completely different interface.
In Mega Man ZX, the "fast travel" menu is in a list and that doesn't actually tell me what "Area A-2" or "Area D-2" are and if they're close or even connect directly to where I want to go.

I also recall having the same problem with Nier: Automata.

"You've changed. You have become cold and cynical."

Uhm... no? I'm as cold and cynical as I've always been. You haven't noticed it, because you were taking advantage of my kindness for so long, and because I didn't react to that, because I didn't see why I'd have any reason to protect myself.
I've learned to set certain boundaries and lines around me that will no longer be crossed by anyone without my permission. It's up to me to choose whom I'm letting step over those boundaries, and it's up to me to choose the people I will shove back to the outside, to the place where they belong in relation to me. If I've chosen to keep you outside those borders, there's a reason for that.
And if you can't deal with it, well, that tells something about you, not me. My trust is something that needs to be earned nowadays, and calling me names doesn't help you with that.

Very good. Very good thoughts. :)

I'm glad that I've finally reached the point where I've realized that it's not selfish to take care of myself and get some personal space. Rather it is selfish to let others assume that they can do whatever they want and cross any borders they want to cross, without any signs of disapproving that kind of actions, and only after that tell them I didn't like that.

Been there, done that... it didn't feel too good to be accused of being cocky and arrogant and "humiliating someone by acting like a miss know-it-all" just because I sincerely tried to help someone with all the knowledge and cognitive skills I've got. They never once told me that it made them feel that bad, and several months after those discussions that person felt like it's finally about time to weaponize my words.
The lesson I learned was that protecting oneself is a good way to protect others too, and if you fail to do that, might be that in the end you don't have anyone else to blame for your anxiety but yourself.

90% of this "vile" is because of two things. NeoGAF (which about 60%/70% splintered off to ResetEra), and this influx of SJW's who are communists who advocate censorship in non-communist countries like U.S.

All this vile crap did not exist 8 years ago. There were crappy journalism, but never at the current level. It's horrible.

1) I didn't say "protesters", I said "rioters". The two aren't synonymous. Educate yourself.

2) I specifically said the rioters using the current climate as an excuse to attack innocent bystanders and defenseless animals; if you're take away from that is to assume I'm talking about people defending themselves against police dogs and then to proceed to drag me over it, I'm sorry, you're a ****ing idiot.

3) If your defense is to double down instead of accepting when I tell you we were talking about two different things, accuse me of white fragility (when you're white yourself) by QTing me and throwing me under the bus, then I don't have time for your ****. Blocked, profile set so Tweets are protected, **** you. Take your virtue-signalling ass somewhere else.

The fact that this was someone I previously got along with proves to me how fickle people are on Twitter: The people that rally behind you one day will devour you the next. But considering this person has posted public apologies for knee-jerk reactions in the past (stating it's not an excuse, but their mental health gets the better of them), I shouldn't be surprised. Sorry boo, I still don't ****ing care. If you didn't learn from your previous ****-ups in this regard, I am not obligated to forgive you or give you the time of day ever again. You dropped the nail in the coffin yourself. Worst part is, they probably still believe they have the moral high-ground.

But whatever. Who am I to deny people their delusions of grandeur?

What's oddly amusing is that all those black rioters seem to have forgotten there's still a pandemic going on. Black lives matter, they say, yet they don't seem to care about the black lives they're putting at risk just by grouping up like that.

Honestly, rioters in general. I'm more concerned with Antifa stirring the pot. Between them and the corrupt cops, the two have turned this whole situation into a powder keg. I'm all for the protests, however. That was inevitable.

And not just that. The black rioters are also killing people. There was a video showing rioters ganging on a business owner, beating him up until he's bloody. I wonder if he died or survived, but it was horrible. The stigma is real if they keep doing this as a black person. It's not helping.

I've been telling people that ANTIFA is behind the other half of the riots. All fell on deaf ears. I even tried to convince someone with a Wiki that ANTIFA is sponsored by Democrats, but the person rebutted saying that ANTIFA isn't an organization. The problem is, I believe that it's kinda like a cartel, a faceless organization. But, that didn't get through the person.

Ignorance. I'm sorry, but I am seeing a lot of ignorant people who are willing to ignore information and let this **** go on.

I keep seeing Soros is responsible for funding ANTIFA. So, I am on board with the idea of designating them as a terrorist.
