I don't know why I keep promoting MS this generation.

I guess I'm afraid of Sony going back to their old PS3 promotion days where they set the rules.

If MS is somehow unable to buy WB Games, then I'd be alright with them purchasing exclusive rights to THQ Nordic -- who in turn, thankfully revived a lot of previously dead IPs out there.

It would give them an edge, with none of the negativity from Sony fans.

Sony is the "cooler" company of the two. The PS3-Sony era was too weird, but that was because their arrogance got the best of them.

PS3 was a technical marvel, but marketing-wise, they were too arrogant kind of weird. Sony learned their lesson with PS3's marketing. It took them YEARS to reach 80 Million units sold.

More money was spent out of their ass to make it happen.

If Microsoft were to get WB Games, I'll be ****ed. I'm a huge Arkham City fan. That was a great experience of a Batman game.

Microsoft is open to acquired companies doing multi-plat games. Yes, but Microsoft will find a way to **** off PlayStation owners.

Yeah but in my honest opinion, we'll all be screwed in the long run if Sony keeps its Spider-Man rights while MS has no exclusive hero to call its own.

Sony would then have an unofficial monopoly over the "cool" games, as you put it.

SMTV being exclusive to Nintendo is also bad news in my case, since I have no intention of buying any of their products for the time being.

If both Sony and MS could share Batman while MS kept the exclusive rights to some other equally famous superhero IP, then that would also be acceptable.

Not to mention, we're probably never getting a game with Nightmare Batman from the end of the last game

Microsoft could still get cool game exclusives. I was excited for a new Panzer Dragoon game, until it was exclusive to Xbox. Same with Ninja Gaiden. We never really got a port of Panzer Dragoon Orta. But Ninja Gaiden came to PS3 as Ninja Gaiden Sigma. You guys even had an exclusive Castlevania. Small exclusives can move systems, dude. Call of Duty was born on Xbox, and became the BIGGEST franchise in the world with 300 Million units sold worldwide.

We never even got Gears of War. We probably won't, ever - in this case.

Did you see their exclusive list? Outside of Fable, I really wasn't interested in any of them tbh.

As Dusk Falls

Echo Generation

Everwild

Exo One

Exomecha

Fable

Forza Horizon 4

Forza Motorsport

Gears 5

Gears Tactics

Halo Infinite

Psychonauts 2

Sea of Thieves

State of Decay 3

Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2

Scorn

Tell Me Why

The Ascent

The Medium

I'm not gonna hold out for something that only might be a possibility at some point in the future.

You can have GoW in exchange for NG.

Yes, I saw the stream, in fact. Microsoft clearly did not plan Xbox Series X very well. It seems like a "whoops, PlayStation 5 rumors are ramping up! We gotta do something!"

I mean, don't you think you should've gotten the exclusives early? Clearly, Microsoft did not learn anything from the Xbox One reveal. This is the kind of **** is the reason why I never buy Xbox consoles. I almost bought Xbox 360 for the cheapness, but I went ahead and bought PS3 at $600. Never looked back.

Xbox 360 was well timed, well planned, well marketed, well sold, I mean... Microsoft was on fire with Xbox 360. Getting all those exclusives onboard. Even the original Xbox, Microsoft was looking for exclusives, just run, buy. Run, buy. Boom. Boom, and boom. But Xbox One? Microsoft ****ed up. Series X? They ****ed up again. This time, they did it backwards: Good console reveal, poor showing of games. Idiots.

Microsoft only had one job: Show gameplay. Nothing else. Two shows in the row? No gameplay? Okay, give ammo to Sony.

It's fixable, but I mean, everyone made up their minds. Everyone's going PlayStation 5, unless Sony ****s up. All Sony needs to do is keep doing what they've been doing.

While Sega didn't do the same exact same thing, there's a reason why they're no longer creating game systems.

Bad business decisions. The Dreamcast was an exception of course, but PlayStation had driven the final nail into their coffin at that point.

Now, I'm unsure if I can even defend MS anymore. All they want is to push us into a complete streaming service with no physical games.

Sony isn't far behind, as a matter of fact. They're just being (far) less obvious about it. Even after Google Stadia, it seems all three companies want to inevitably go that route.

Vote with your wallets. Tell them that we won't stand for this.

I'm done giving MS free advice. They're just determined to not learn from their mistakes.

As he said at around 3 mins 35 seconds Game Pass isnt really a streaming service as such (PS Now is), granted its a digital store but you download the entire games themselves rather than actually streaming them so latency isnt an issue.

I use Game Pass on PC and its brilliant and cant fault the service ive had from it for the crazy cheap price. As console makers dont make much from selling physical consoles they are making a ton of money with people being subscribed to it. I mean ive been stepping away from console gaming over last few years and used my Xbox One and Playstation 4 less and less in favour of PC gaming. If Sony put out a similar digital system I would sign up in a heartbeat and play their games on PC instead and I have seen more and more of Sonys games coming to PC now as there is simply more money in selling outside of your own platform.

I wouldnt buy digital on consoles as its simply too expensive but if the pricing had been closer to PC digital pricing then I wouldnt mind leaving physical media behind entirely. Only purchased 2 physical PC games in about 12 years and I dont miss them.

Which ones are too expensive? The new ones? I always grab the cheap ones at about five bucks or less on an impulse buy. Obviously, this is way after they've launched.

While I'll admit that physical gaming on PC was a pain, there were times that I've lost opportunities to buy digital games because they're simply not available anymore.

Sony's so (secretly) arrogant that they don't feel the need for a game pass and backwards compatibility. But it seems that MS also has no desire to change its ways either by refusing to purchase game-changing exclusive IPs.

What I'm saying is, while in the short run digital games seem like a good deal, eventually it'll get to the point where they can delete it from your database if you haven't paid your monthly bill.

"Stealth" anti-consumerism has always been a sticking point with me because it's always so hard to prove due to the fact that it seems like a net benefit for their fan base.

TL;DR:

I wanted SRX to have games that really pushed its power level -- like the Soul Reaver reboot, Dead Sun.

Instead, what I got was an advertisement for a service for their already existing exclusive titles.

If MS bought the Legacy of Kain license from Square-Enix (because they're not doing anything with it) and actually made a game to showcase its power, then all would be forgiven, in my point of view.

Halo itself proved that all it takes is one frontier-pushing game to sell a system. Just one.

Keep in mind people , xbox has 6 other studios to hear from which they said they will at later shows

The initiative super studio is supposed to have 2 games

They also have to reveal Lockhart, and probably other things with it. So until we have the final picture at launch, they aren't dead an buried just yet.

I have a feeling hellblade will ne the real visual showcase, halo has been confirmed to be a couple of months older build running on a mid range pc, and isnt going to he what the final product is on series x

And do remember it was made to be a current gen game, then will be optimised to run and look better on series x at launch, but it's still a current gen game so I like to think of it being more like a series x enhanced back compatibility game on series x.

I'm more disappointed that hellblade 2 gameplay wasn't shown, also no elden ring or new gameplay for games out later this year by either sony or Microsoft.

Let's hope so.

I don't wanna go back to a Sony-dominated marketplace.

Those were dark times for anyone who didn't own their products.
