...anyway, ignoring all of that nonsense, in the current climate I really wish my grandfather wasn't driving. Between @sshole cops, the fact that we live so close to a major city (so protests are bound to happen here sooner or later), and C-19, I just ugh they need to be more careful. I really don't know what any of us would do without him. And it would sure be a lot less stress if he'd just stay home. But then no one in this family knows how to not do things they want to, so.

+ Darling, shut up. I owe you nothing for your idiocy. You made that bed, drown in it.

Gotta love when you say something someone doesn't like, and they go "Didn't ask".

I hate that response. It's so pointless. You didn't ask. So what? The world doesn't revolve around you. I don't care if you didn't ask, I'll keep saying what I want and all you can do is deal with it if you don't have a counterargument.

Asking people for personal advice and having them only talk about the game they're playing in response is really annoying. I'm asking for help on a problem because I trust you, not because I want to hear about your Sims game.

Damn this midsummer pub karaoke next door... I've done two 10-11 hour shifts during the past two days, I'm having an early wakeup because I need to make breakfast for the customers in the cottages, my feet and my head are screaming for sleep, but the noise keeps me awake.

Early in the morning, around 6 am, I have to drive 25 kilometres by a quiet archipelago route, and if I can't sleep now I'm probably falling asleep while driving and ending up into the lake with the car. :dead:

Thank you, Trudeau. Thank you so much for now taxing us on things coming in to the country from the States, like we don't already pay extra for shipping anyway.

I ****ing hate you. :meh:

Edit: Apparently anything coming in internationally over $20 CAD, at any rate. Which happens to be a lot. *sigh*

So...can't sing a song around other people but can get wasted in Wetherspoons from 6am tomorrow so long as I fill in a form? After getting a haircut and shopping in Primark? With six other people from different households?

I don't get it. I just...don't get it.

At this point, I don't know how to explain to you that you're a c*** and that you should care about other people and I'm too exhausted to keep trying. You're an entitled and spoiled brat with no compassion for anyone you can't use to make yourself feel better. If you're going to keep acting like this, that's a moral and ethical failing on your part; it's not my job to keep teaching you something you won't even genuinely try to learn. Whine to someone who actually cares.

Some people actually still use the trite and utter dumbass argument of "it's optional, you don't have to buy it" to defend blatant scams like Valorant's 100 bucks skin pack.

****in'ell. Bunch of morons.

The same reason why people ignore who developed Valorant. Its ****ing China, people. That's why the price is high.

I mean, originally it (Riot Games) was founded in California, but was acquired by...

Tencent.

"You take what was said too literally!"

This is a standard response to whenever someone's argument backfires on them.
Sometimes, one can get so careless that they say something that is used against them and when that happens, these people will blame you for taking them too literally.

Let's say, one made an argument such as: "this game contains no puzzles!".
And if I start listing down the puzzles the game actually has, I get hit back with the "you take what I said too literally!".
No, I did not take things too literally, you dug yourself into a deep hole.

Kamiya and Platinum Games in general should pull their heads out their butts and let their players customize controls. "Not necessary" my ass.
It's due to the current trends of implementing Quick Time Events or context-sensitive actions (such as pressing "Y+B" for special attacks or finishers).

If they allow complete control customization, you may get Quick Time Events with weird button placements, like "Y+A" or "LT+B" which you have to do very quickly.

The Devil May Cry series isn't dependent on "context-sensitive" stuff and made sure every move can be done on the controller without a special condition (except for anything that requires a gauge to be full).
This is why the Devil May Cry series can keep implementing a fully customizable control scheme, even DmC.

I get it, but then why can't I customize buttons that ain't ever gonna appear in QTE prompts either?

Like I'm replaying MGR rn, and I just wanna change the buttons for Ripper Mode, sub weapon, and lock on. None of those are involved in QTEs.

Thank Jesus for that God-like feature that is Steam Input. I can bypass the game's code and fully customize my controls that way, but what if I was a console player, or the game was on some other client on PC? Argh.

Not to mention if you ask Kamiya, that isn't even the reason he adduces, LOL. VashTSB specifically asked him on Twitter once, and he straight up replied with "not necessary". Such mentality would explain why even buttons that have nothing to do with QTEs aren't customizable. Pff.

Even if you only want to customize specific buttons, it doesn't stop others from doing more random customization.

Some games have fancy on-screen prompts, like when you're in front of a dazed enemy and the game superimposes an on-screen graphic of a button combination, like "Y+B".
They may not have additional graphics for if you do a more random customization.
In fact, not adding button customization means they can bypass the need to create on-screen prompts graphics for every single button combination.

So that's another factor why a game that revolves around context-sensitive actions and QTE is gonna have less chances of allowing full control scheme customization.

Yeah, like Rising. But the game's QTEs only ever revolve around A, B, X, Y, LT and RT, it only has graphics for those (and tilting the left stick). With that in mind, they could have let me customize the rest, like stick buttons, RB and LB.

It's especially baffling in MGR cause those buttons ARE kinda customizable, but only in a very restrictive way. You can only swap them with each other (for example LT for ninja run and RT for Blade Mode), through some controller presets. If you're gonna do that, why not let ME choose which of those buttons does what? I literally did just that with Steam Input, and it doesn't impact QTEs and their graphical UI one bit.

The on-screen graphics seem to be focused on one side or one section of the controller.
Like when Monsoon launches a pillar at you, the on-screen graphics to Ninja Run on the pillar is focused on the shoulder section of the controller, plus the left analog stick.

When you need to do the finisher, the game shows the controller's face buttons with Y & B highlighted.

They kinda already have specific graphics in mind, almost set in stone to be displayed before the player and can't be bothered to make extra graphics to accommodate a different button combination than the default.
Like if you mapped "Strong Attack" to LB, then the "finisher" prompt will have to be "LB+B", with a totally different kind of graphic to accommodate that change.

In MGR's case, they made the on-screen prompt to resemble how the button layout would look like if the player looks at their controller.

They could make those qte's only respond to those specific buttons that they always do though.
Unless you mean the finisher stuff that happens inside of combat, wich in all honesty should be one button affair (like in Darksiders 1 for example)

just my 2 cents on that matter, that being said I haven't seen any real quick time events like this in quite a while.
