  • I now really want a DCEU adaptation of No Man's Land. Perfect opportunity to introduce the Batfamily and Batman's rogue gallery.

I originally saw Under The Red Hood in the same light but I agree with you about No Man's Land.

No Man's Land would be perfect, but from what Matt Reeves has described, the Batman film will be more film noir.

^It makes sense. No Man's Land is not exactly first movie material. It would make more sense for it to be a sequel, preferably set up after a game-changing event that occurs in another DCEU movie prior to it. It is an amazing event, tho' - right up Matt Reeves' alley.

I was almost going to start believing there was an anti-Netflix conspiracy when Duncan Jones' Mute got negative reviews. Then I saw the movie.
Mfw Tumblr SJWs telling white people to skip the first week of Black Panther's release in order to not suck the black joy out of the theater.
Black Panther is getting some rave reviews. Glad to see Coogler scored three out of three. Hope his Creed sequel pans out just as good. Will be seeing BP on the 15th.
For some reason, I got a very different vibe from Antman and The Wasp when compared to the other recent MCU entries. Visuals, maybe?

To me, its weird that this is the next film after what is, essentially, an end of the world scenario.

Not weird at all, considering Ant-Man was released after Age of Ultron which had an end of world scenario. Besides, Thanos is not gonna be the main big bad so the stakes are still not gonna be apocalyptic-high as everyone expects.

AOU didn't feel like a big deal compared to Thanos.
I have to admit, Kekkai Sensen & Beyond actually made me tear up by the end.
Devilman Crybaby is the most Suda thing to ever grace anime. A horrible show that I can't stop watching.
Does anyone have an up to 12 episodes, fairly recent anime that I can binge watch this weekend?

^ Kabaneri is a bit of a mixed bag. It has a good first half but the quality really dips in the second half. If you can look past it's flaws then yeah, it's an entertaining high adrenaline action fest.

Also @WolfOD64, if you are interested in modern shows tell me what genre and I'll dig up any gems that often go under the radar. :)

@Lain I'm a big fan of the medieval fantasy genre, but that doesn't seem to be a possibility these days unless it's somehow tied to high school life or the inner world of some video game.
Just watched JL. I loved it. Glad to see Superman is being Superman and Lex Luthor is acting like Lex Luthor. Looking forward to DCEU now.

Apparently critics and the box office aren't. WB tried dark and it didn't work, then tried being light and it still didn't work. And I still have beef with what WB did to Zack. But at least the people that did see it are enjoying it, so that's good to hear.

@DragonMaster2010, I got the impression that the universe conspired against this movie's development what with Kevin Tsujihara's dickishness, the tragic death of ZS's child, Cavill not being allowed to shave his mustache from the makers of MI: 6 and the CG being outsourced to a ****ty company. Even so, I enjoyed the hell out of it. Way more than Ragnarok if I dare say.
Here is an unpopular opinion: Ragnarok is the worst Thor movie yet and one of the worst in the MCU.
    DragonMaster2010
    DragonMaster2010
Given I could barely remember the first two films, I feel like Ragnarok was just GOTG ft. Thor and baby brain Hulk.

@DragonMaster2010 My problem exactly. The Thor films were my favorite part of the MCU, because they were a nice change from the "LOL SO RANDOM" nature of Iron Man, GOTG, Ant-Man, etc. They, and the Captain America films, were arguably the most serious the MCU ever got...but Ragnorok made short work of that.

I was never one to jump on MCU's throat just because their movies were jokey. But this is the one movie which sort of dents the status quo, yet every big thing that happens is either handwaved or played for laughs. And it is a shame since the action scenes were superb, the visuals were good for the most part and the characters were at their best.
I finally gave in to my dirty impulses and decided to search for Justice League spoilers. I am weak!

Not so: Street Fighter the Movie had Jean-Claude Van Damme, Tomb Raider had Angelina Jolie, and the Doom movie had Dwayne Johnson. The only movies that weren't racing for star power in the past were Uwe Boll's and Paul W.S. Anderson's movies...and that's just because no one with credibility would show up to star in those festering piles.

I'm not asking for the movie to be a straight adaptation. All I want is for them to capture the essence of Splinter Cell on a silver screen. And let me say treating it like it's Call of Duty is not a good way to go.
I say this as a huge anime fanboy, screw all the retarded fans who forced the Death Note director to delete his Twitter.

I watched the movie, and honestly, it wasn't even that bad. There were a few drastic changes but for the most part I saw it as a step in the right direction. Definitely not the DB Evolution-tier hate that it's getting. Plus, the criticism it's getting from fans is SO stupid it actually hurts.

I agree with a reviewer I saw that they would have benefitted from making it a distant sequel to the original where Ryuk once again got bored and dropped the DN in America this time. That way you would avoid claims of whitewashing, getting character's wrong and having more creative freedom in general.

There was a japanese movie called Light up the new world that followed @Lain's suggestion.

It was set ten years after the first two movies and followed a new shinigami and a few new death note users

Has anyone noticed how Batman and Batman Returns are essentially the same movie?

I think both of those movies are overrated, to be honest. Portraying the Joker as a crazy person with his collection of equally crazy goons was accurate, but the Penguin? The Penguin in the comics was supposed to be a glorified, sleazy salesman at his worst. Don't get me wrong - they are good Tim Burton movies, but have nothing to do with Batman.
    WolfOD64
    WolfOD64
You have to remember when both of them were made. Batman's role in games and toys at the time was very much locked in his 70's phase, which was only slightly more serious than the Adam West show. The comics themselves had grown much darker, but that was beyond the knowledge of both consumers and producers.
    WolfOD64
    WolfOD64
As such, both Burton movies...like the Christopher Reaves Superman movies before them...were made with a number of strong contradictions in place. But I still find them more enjoyable than Nolan's killjoy Trilogy, or some recent animated affairs like the godawful, uber-edgy Son of Batman movies with Damian Wayne.
All these people bitching about the Death Note Netflix adaptation should just shut the hell up and wait for the movie to come out.

Can you blame them? most of hollywood's attempts to adapt anime have been awful at worst and mediocre at best. Plus DB evolution is still fresh in everyone's minds after all these years.

I'm not saying they shouldn't be wary of it, but they're cooking up weird complains like Light doesn't seem smart, Ryuk seems too evil, L is yelling too much, Light actually loves Misa. I mean, they're doing the ADAPTING part of an ADAPTATION. Maybe you should just wait until the movie comes out to see if those changes work within the narrative.

On the other hand, I loved all the references to the prior films and other related works. Alfred saying he missed the days when their biggest concern was exploding penguins was goddamn gold.
I had the Infinity War SDC trailer described to me by one of those sites and now I can't get rid of this boner. Imagine actually watching it

The Phase 1 titles are pretty straightforward. Iron Man, Thor, The Avengers. Hell, the only reason why they gave Captain America the epithet of the First Avenger was probably to separate it from the ****ty direct to TV movies and I imagine the same type of thinking must have happened during the making of The Incredible Hulk.
Re-watched The Dark Knight Returns Part II: that nuclear blast still horrifies the **** out of me. Like, damn man!
