The wrong kind of diversity is being pushed, for all of the wrong reasons, and executed in all the wrong ways. I'm very much in agreement with you that it's the fault of the writers involved, & not with the concept of diversity itself. But not only was SW not in dire need of a more diverse cast in the first place, the diverse characters they have are so vapid & hollow that it renders the effort useless.

Also, you know what bothers me about the cast of Rogue One? The fact that there's five humans and a droid...in a galaxy BRIMMING with aliens. How about instead of emphasizing Whites, Chinese, or Middle Eastern Actors, you try, oh, I dunno...Iridonians? Rodians? Pikes? Trandoshans? For Christ's sake, Rebels got this right, and it's Disney XD Cartoon.

Now THAT I can agree with. I never understood why the entirety of the Rogue one was JUST humans. I get that back then the rebels were mostly human in the original trilogy due to technology not being as advanced to make aliens, but I would figure at least a few other species would be rebels too.

"Metal Gear Survive doesn't understand the series' Strength." So I take it those strengths don't include the writing...or stealth.

Technically, he brainwashed himself to make everyone believe that he was possessed by that hand. But yeah, I can see your point. I guess it's different strokes for different folks. To you, I suggest Splinter Cell 1-3 if you haven't played them already. They've got none of what you hate about MG.

@tehrugger Why on Earth would I do that? What, is Metal Gear something so pristine and sacred that it's not subject to criticism? I don't agree with the universal hatred Star Wars fans laud on the Prequels, but they have every right to critique them. Also, "slanderous" is something of a dramatization. Besides, if I'm not informed on the things I hate, I have no place commenting on them.

@Teal I have indeed played Splinter Cell 1-3, as well as Double Agent, and I love all of them. I like a lot of stealth games like Velvet Assassin, Styx, and Deus Ex, but it grinds my gears whenever I hear the usual shrieks of "METAL GEAR INNOVATED STORYTELLING" or "WUZ THE FIRST REAL STEALTH GAME." Liking the series is one thing, but falsely attributing it w/ accolades it hasn't earned is another.

@Foxtrot94 You're right, I was onboard with it, when they announced that Tom Cruise was a part of it...and then they announced that the film would be set in modern day, as opposed to the 1930's Age of Archaeology...which robs it of all of its pulp, adventure feel, which destroyed any and all motivation to see it.

Furthermore, he mentions how Star Wars is, by nature, a story of "Resistance", when George Lucas only ever intended that to be the theme of the OG Trilogy, as opposed to the Decay of a Utopian Society in the Prequel Trilogy and Clone Wars, and the Rebuilding of a Lost Age with the post-ROTJ Expanded Universe (which he acknowledged enough to include locations and characters from in the Prequels).

This dismissive attitude that this guy and many other casual Star Wars fans, whose only experience with the franchise is whatever they see on-screen, is exactly the kind that renders them unsuitable to try at armchair analyses of Star Wars. If they don't know basic **** about the Star Wars Universe as a whole, I have no reason to take a syllable of his analysis seriously.

@Foxtrot94 I felt like it was mostly a difference between what people expected vs what they got. A lot of people expected Mankind Divided to do a lot more with the conspiracy plot, but in reality it was about Jensen working at Interpol. The latter plot got a fine conclusion in Mankind Divided, while the former didn't.

Mankind Divided was intended as the middle chapter of a trilogy. The previous game answered practically all the questions it raised, so it was down to MD to raise more for a final chapter. I've played the game, and any side-quests or plot-points that end with vague, cliff-hanger resolutions clearly indicated that they would be answered properly in a future game.

He and the other members of the Clone Wars/Rebels Production Team understand Star Wars better than anyone else at Lucasfilm (seriously, just YouTube some of Filoni's interviews w/ theForce.net sometime, he really has passion for the SW universe). The more opportunities they get to contribute to the franchise, the better.

Good for you if you enjoyed it. I'm someone whose love of Star Wars stretches beyond the films, into the deeper lore explored in comic, novel, TV show, and video game form. And all the creativity and rich mythology of that now-defunct Expanded Universe is barely seen in this new batch of mediocre Star Wars material under Disney's reign.

Nothing evil about it, just very self-absorbed and paranoid of competition. This is done primarily to affect things like advertising and consumer awareness. It's like when KOEI Tecmo was going to trademark the term "Warring States" just to damage any competitive reach Capcom's Sengoku Basara series would've had, before they were dropped the copyright attempt. But at least THEY had the good sense to drop it.
