You're starting to become one of my favourite people on this forum.
I'd say people who like everything served on a plate are ..let's say a little bit reductive.
What's the magic in knowing everything in a game? It's like : I made a game, I said everything that can be said about it. What's the purpose of a future game if I said anything about it?
One of the purposes of a video game wasn't to enrich creativity? You can leave it also to fanfictions and all of that but..
That's why I think DmC was more story driven and it made its justice alright. Because it's only a reboot and not the original franchise which has more games.

Both DMC and DmC leave sh*t out in their story but its quite different.
With DMC some of the stuff left out was on purpose for the sake of creating more sequels or spin offs but ultimately have the fanbase keep discussing. Such as if they fully explained Nero's backstory in the first game he was in then that would ultimately lead to less need to keep him around or lose that bait to have fans need a DMC5.
Plus a lot of the stuff they left out are usually put in other works or mediums to have them buy their products so if you want to fully understand the story of DMC3 or DMC2 you'll have to pick up the mangas, drama CDs, etc.
One game that Capcom does this with (or used to) was the MegaMan series (mainly X, Zero, and ZX). Geez the actual games only cover 25% of the overall story and everything else are in DramaCDs that explains the rest of the plot and other details are sandwiched in there and hidden to cause more speculation and discussion among fans to generate a strong fanbase and by strong I don't mean a lot but a fanbase that is intrigued by the mysteries within the story causing stronger interests in the game.
Now with DmC, they do leave out some details to deal with in a sequel but some of the stuff left out in the story seems to be by accident or poor planning or story structure such as the whole Sparda and Mundus being blood brothers. I mean the Sparda aspect of that can be developed in a sequel but the Mundus aspect can't since Mundus is dead. I mean if that if that is the case then Mundus is Dante's and Vergil's uncle but the writer(s) (being Tameem because the guy have an ego of ten thousand men) seem to have just not care and focused on making Mundus a big bad generic bad guy who is evil rather than having an interesting interaction between the good guys ad the bad guys who are technically related. It would create for a more dynamic plot element and interaction than "Argh you killed my mother because your an a$$hole and rule mankind". The whole war between angels and demons (I really don't need to see angels but the plot established some war between angels and demons but not a single evidence or proof outside Vergil and Phineas saying so proves this for even the demons act like there is no war between angels or demons not even Mundus the king of the demons even hints or alludes to some conflict with angels and demons and he rules the world. Geez the dude don't even alludes to the existence to angels outside Nephilims. Hell the only angel in the story Eva who is brought up by the demons don't even acknowledge her as angel or as part of the angel race they just quickly call her a whore. I would've liked for them..being the demons or Mundus to have mentioned a war or a conflict but nope demons somehow managed to rule mankind without angelic intervention and instead uses up precious time of Mundus rather than being a prominent character and add more details to this whole war between angels and demons because you know he is the demon king and rules mankind instead we get scenes of him buttf*cking Lilith to even give a damn about angels. You think this war would have some impact on the narrative (their might as well as been no war and the story would still be the same). Granted it could be fixed in a sequel. There are more details ignored in DmC's story.
Its almost as if the whole story of DmC was about Demons and Nephilim and not Demons, Angels, and Nephilim.
The main problem with DmC is that unlike the previous games tries to jam pack so much story content into a 7 hour game (2 hours of actual cutscenes......3 hours of dialogue....although only 1/5 of it actually mattered). They try to fit in plot elements of the past DMCs (4 games) mixed with tons more concepts such as Limbo, this war between demons and angels, Mundus's child and desire to have an heir, demons controlling mankind, and Nephilim that it becomes too much and certain aspects are very undeveloped (Limbo), ignored (the war between angels and demons), or shafted for a more simplier role in the story without getting not much role in the story (Mundus's child being killed so they can **** off Mundus).
Geez even Dante's relationship with Kat and Vergil really didn't feel all that flesh out...well mainly Vergil, Kat was fine technically....well I say Kat because on the Dante side of things it was pretty good but since Kat barely developed as a character (she was mainly a plot device...hence Kyrie 2.0) and exhibited barely any interesting character traits other than being useful so Dante can prove a point to Vergil to make humans look cool and Vergil dumb. She has a tragic past that is it, her tragic past isn't even realized in the game or played a relevance to her character but to have someone so Dante can related to.
But granted Kat's character is more interesting and a bit more dynamic in the comic which almost makes the Kat in the game and the Kat in comic to feel like totally different characters.
Now this is how I feel or critique about the story. I do put DmC's story on a higher pedastool than the past games since they put much more effort into it and made it a key aspect of the game this time around versus DMC which was there for the sake of being there (fanservice).
Not only that due to that stronger emphasis of story we had:
- taunts removed
- dialogue during gameplay
- unskippable cutscenes
- an easier challenge than past installments so players can easily progress through the game and the story (so its easier for the sake of the story)
- stronger emphasis on cinematics (more cutscenes and scripted sequences)
- linearity
No.
Nope.
Hell No.
And No for if Tameem wants to write a story that matches film and literature (there is no standard that means film or literature for you can have crappy movies, Lady in the Water, and crappy books, Twilight) he should just make a CGI movie then using game graphics.

Know something? Since Capcom said that they are doing DMC games every two years, I'm hoping for them to do a DMC5 first for 2015 so that they can give NT MORE time to make almost every thing perfect from the story to the gameplay for DmC2 in 2017.
And if you're thinking that I wish for DMC5 to be a rushed product, I don't. Matter in fact I hope that game is in the works now so that both sides are even.

Unskippable cutscenes?
Why don't you press Select? That happened to me with DMC1 (which is my first PS2-era DMC game) once when I tried pressing Start to skip the cutscenes. You must be used to pressing Start to skip it like with DMCs 2 to 4. *facepalm*

NT already working with some new "AAA" title right now. So i didn't think that they will have more time then they had for DmC.

I know, that's why I said what I said. I hope the game they are making now will come out in 2015 so NT can continue where they left off with DmC. For DmC2, all they need to do is to make the gameplay "faster", put more moves for Dante and Vergil, and put more character development into the characters. Some sequels are not that hard to make. I think you know why NT took 3 years to make DmC (..or 4, just because they spent a year on Dante's design).

It took NT only about two years to actually develop DmC, in fact, it was a little under two years.

Oh yeah, I remember the game went gold in last year and they wanted to release it early this year for better sales. Still though...I hope they have more time after their mysterious game they're making now. Release the game in late 2017 (December).
I also want the graphics to be REALISTIC AS POSSIBLE! Since DmC2 might be for the next gen systems and has like a real-life atmosphere.

I hope the newer version of real engine is better on the PS4. The old one was really showing it's age on the PS3. The textures look a little more gritty than smoother than the engine games like DMC4 and the later Resident Evil's used. That and they need to nail the hair physics better.
It always adds that bit extra life to something, without physics, hair just looks stiff. Although I think the older real engine was restricted with that. Kat was the only one who ever got hair physics in some scenes.
Seeing that mystery project though, looks like they can do a lot more in that department.

Maybe less than 50% because i think it underpreformed but then again Square Enix was disheartened by Tomb Raider's measly 3 million so these companies arent known for smart decisions/reactions.
on the question of DMC5 versus DmC2, I would say it doesn't matter because i dont feel DmC pushed the franchise forward enough or elevated the story etc so its anyone's game now.

Also - "blood brother" doesn't necessarily mean "related by blood," it's also someone regarded as a brother because of things people go through together - like a war. Sparda was Mundus' "most trusted lieutenant," remember. That's a fairly important fact in why Mundus felt so betrayed, and yet, didn't regard the Sons of Sparda as anything more than a threat to his existence.
It also might serve your credibility if you didn't give your words so much venom when you talk about the bad aspects of something...

I still can't believe they thought Tomb Raider was a flop despite selling 3 million. I can only assume they spent a ton of money on it. Still it's good that game's getting a sequel, maybe that'll have a multiplayer I can jump into as well x3 I just wonder if that'll cut to years later or something with Lara being older.
As for DmC2, there's still stuff Capcom could do with it, plenty.
