Right. I'm not a big fan of tomatoes or mushrooms in my soup, but if I'm going to get a good taste, I'll listen. But, as I said, some people are vile, and will just leave with parting shots. You got lucky that he/she left good rating, despite pushback.
The customer didn't hear this conversation, it happened in the kitchen. Luckily...
It's a small thing, I know, just that it doesn't feel right when someone who is in a position where they
should know vegan food
better than me, delays the order because they are so convinced that mushrooms are animals and can't believe they'd be wrong in this. You should've seen the look in my coworkers face when I just asked them to ask the customer if they'd like to have fried mushrooms. They just rolled their eyes and told me "yup, I
will ask", leaving the "you're gonna be so wrong in this" unsaid, but it could be well head in their tone.
It wouldn't have been a big deal, just some mushrooms, but this kind of stuff happens way too often with this one and it really affects my efficiency and mood. Also, I didn't like how they spoke about vegan customers the whole day after this. It wasn't the customer's fault, I wanted to serve them well, in which I succeeded. It shouldn't be a problem in the kitchen if a customer likes the food they are served with.
And guess what? Ranting about that vegan was still on today.
Thank God I've got two days off.
