Oh man, I was watching an old educational video for US Soldiers arriving in the UK and it's cringe level is over nine thousand. :facepalm:

Y'know, I was thinking about this last night, and while scanning through some of my JPN books I came to this conclusion: Most of the time, the JPN language doesn't use "he/she/they said" in dialogue and so I reckon that the translator decided to put them in and got a bit overzealous with the "Said synonyms".

Translations are always such fickle things.

But if Japanese don't use he/she/they said then how do you know who's talking? How I say? How (Curls up into a ball and starts crying)

Well at least the novel translates stuff VS leaving Japanese words without a translation. I can't count the countless times I've see "I'm looking for my Aniki." instead of "I'm looking for my brother." (The context calls for the "Brother" translation too!) Or things like "Piccolo has merged with Kami-Sama." Just write it as "God/god" damn it!

Indeed, I hate it when they leave honorifics in without explanation. You're been paid to translate for Buddha's sake!

And most honorifics can be translated too. Turn "Kami-Sama" into "God/god," "Belt-San" into "Mr. Belt," and etc, etc. My biggest pet peeve is "Henshin" being left as is. Is "Transform/Change/Transformation" really so hard to use?
Same goes for "Sentai." Alas, even the Official US Super Sentai DVDS are using "Sentai" instead of "Squadron/Taskforce/Team."

Been out for a few days with a cold. It wouldn't have been bad if I hadn't been moving around so much at work, I worked up my exhaustion and lost my sense of homeostasis, so it was a few days of bed for me. It's all good now, I got my good meds, and I think I can return to work tomorrow. I was suppose to be sleeping for most of it, but I was playing Samurai Warriors 4 when my wife was at work. :tongue:

Wanna try out that new Samurai Warriors: Spirit of Sanada. It doesn't look half bad, kind of like a stepping stone for greater things to come.

For probably about a week or so, both of my flash drives have been telling me if I copy TMT onto them, certain properties won't be able to transfer over (asking me if I still want to copy the document, regardless). I cannot for the life of me figure out what the heck is going on; it wasn't doing this before, and as far as I can remember, I haven't done anything different with TMT that hasn't also been done to WoN, FotS, or any other document. So why? Why is it singling TMT out in particular, and how can I make it stop?

I didn't actually get any time to myself last night because I had to go to the hospital with my fiancée in the middle of the night because of pains she'd been getting. Still, I'm just glad she's okay. That's the main thing.

Not quite restored but I will now give Justice League a chance. Didn't even notice the film was over 2 hours long, it was that enjoyable.

Wonder Woman was one of the best films I've seen in a long time. It's definitely up there as a firm favourite superhero flick. Not sure if it trumps Civil War, but it's close...

Now I'm thinking about peace and quiet for the next four months.

It's really hot today. Normally I don't notice, but it's pretty brutal. It's nice that they put a fan in my work area. It's not the big box fan we used to have, but I'll take anything.

Gonna try a new show with my wife tonight. I think she might like it.

I'm really upset with you and yet all I want to do is reply and be with you again. But I shouldn't. It's a matter of principle, pride, hard headedness, and a hurt soul. It's only going to get worse and not better.

Well, no coffee creamer here. so that means black coffee for me. The bitterness can be just as good sometimes, even if its cold... *reflects on the fact that is very strange, and probably says something about my psyche*

It's a long work week, but I think it'll make out just fine. I got my show for my breaks, so I can hunker down and let it breeze by. Oh Tuesday, you don't come fast enough.

My cats been much happier since her teeth got pulled. I think we made the right call there, though my wallet sorely disagrees. Shhh wallet, people look at us funny when I talk to you.
