'don't worry mother. You're nightmares are nearly over'.
That's going straight to my sig.
'don't worry mother. You're nightmares are nearly over'.
Yeah and that's what I like about the new Vergil the other one was not so bad, still evil for kinda destroying that city by unleashing hell but ignoring that he was not entirely bad and nonredeemable. This one is extremely twisted and now obviously psychotic and that is a departure from the old one but had they not made him unique NT would just get bitched at for not even trying to be original or unique. This NT Vergil is borderline psychotic....probably is. His warped view of what happened in his life, his sudden hatred of his mother and telling her he killed Dante just to tear her apart emotionally. He could have killed her, but he did much worse by showing her how twisted he was and leaving her with the knowledge he killed Dante (well fake Dante) and walks away knowing she is trapped in hellish torture.
He's scary in a way the DMC3 Vergil wasn't. The part in dowfall when Vergil says something like 'don't worry mother. You're nightmares are nearly over'. It was chilling the way he said it, totally devoid of emotion. I thought he would kill her.
In a way it reminded me of The Shining film/ novel. The Dad starts off seeming normal-ish, but he changes and then goes totally murdering nuts. I was almost expecting when Vergil met his mother for him to say 'here's Vergil' with a creepy smile. >_<
Vergil's attacks appear to be more ground-based in nature, you won't be performing endlessly long aerial-combos with Vergil.
He doesn't have a single move that sends the enemy flying higher up in the air after performing a successful launch.
And for the last time, he's not based on Tameem. I'm so sick of people saying that. It's seriously starting to annoy me.
That's a baseless opinion but I was simply saying that having long hair and looking like the original Dante doesn't make you emo. If anything, long hair has always been the symbol of the rocker and Dante reaffirmed that.I have no clue how you managed to get Kurt Kobain out of that.
More or less, DmC Dante is DMC3 Dante whether you disapprove of that or not.
"The original concepts that came back for Dante were actually extremely close to the Dante everyone knows and loves," Svensson explained. "The feedback that came back from [Keiji] Inafune and [Hideaki] Itsuno was, 'No guys, this needs to be completely different, we need you to go much further and be much more creative.'"
"And literally dozens of potential iterations later became what we as a team felt comfortable and actually happy with."
Svensson later admitted Capcom knew there would be fan backlash for the design change but said it was all part of the plan.
"I will argue that any changes will bring about a knee-jerk reaction from fans," he said. "We know that; we knew that going into it. To be fair, I think some of the strategy here was to create that discussion and dialogue, and I think it drastically raises the visibility of the title versus if we had just done another Dante."
Um, 1. Vergil was the one who made that d!ck joke
2. This Dante still makes one liners and jokes and still has a laid back attitude
3. DMC3 Dante was just as self-absorbed at the beginning as DmC Dante, even admitting to Lady "at first I didn't care, but you gave me a reason to." which is echoed by DmC Dante's "This world's under my protection."
4. As you said yourself, opinion doesn't equal fact. You seem to obsess over DmC's Dante's behavior at the beginning, while ignoring his character development, while only focusing on one aspect of DMC3 Dante's personality.
That enough of a point for you?
#1. Agreed.
You're right about this one. My memory was foggy about that since I never saw his mouth moving. It still proves not only how polar opposite Dante is, but Vergil is as well, in comparison to his original counterpart. This also shows how shallow the dialog is when they're basically arguing about retarded sh1t like children.
You can excuse it all you want, but the original Dante wasn't a d1ck for no reason and that's just fact.
This is a reboot and a pretty ****ty one at that.
He's just a bad character.
I'm starting to realize that trying to prove to you that he's a good character is a losing battle. You're completely dedicated to hating this character.
I could argue that showing his growth is proving he became a good character, or that he genuinely becomes a good person, but it's pointless.
Do me a favor and don't read Journey to the West, seeing as Son Wukong starts off as a jerk, and becomes a hero after journeying with Tripitakas.
And, like I repeatedly have stated, I think both DMC3 Dante and DmC Dante start off the same, as hedonistic jackasses that mature throughout the game. Hell in DMC3, You can actually see from all the beer bottles that he drinks more than DmC Dante! (I counted 12 bottles scattered everywhere in 3 to one bottle in DmC). DMC3 and DmC are about the Hero's journey, from a selfish young man to a hero, and both Dante's stepped up when it counts. DmC Dante may be foul mouthed, but he did end up becoming a hero.
I can name countless popular fiction like this
Berserk: Guts goes from violent, cruel, cold, and obsessed with his personal goals, which are often achieved at great cost or risk to others, to genuinely caring about the people around him, a compassionate leader, and the best hero the ****hole of a world he lives in has.
Green Lantern: Guy Gardner starts off as a brash, headstrong jackass, and becomes a confident hero.
Batman: Damien Wayne went from a sociopathic creepy child to a genuine hero worthy of the Robin name
Fantastic 4: Johnny Storm went from a showboating, immature man-child to a mature superhero and uncle
Inuyasha: people forget this but he starts off as a f*cking VILLIAN kept in control by the necklace, before becoming a noble and self sacrificing hero.
YuYu Hakusho: Yuskue starts off as a punk delinquent before becoming a hero to humans and demons alike
Cowboy Bebop: Spike Spiegal ( my favorite anime character) starts off as a lazy, snarky ******* before becoming, well, a space cowboy.
Get Backers: Ban Midou starts off as a selfish, sneaky, women groping, mean-spirited asshole, but becomes a noble fighter with an honorable code by the middle of the second arc.
Star Wars: Han Solo goes from not caring about the Resistance and only about money, to a deadpan snarking badass rebel.
Artemis Fowl: Goes from a cold, calculating criminal mastermind in the first book, to a hero of The People in the last book.
Supernatural: Dean Winchester starts the earlier seasons as a cocksure, self-righteous douchebag. By season 4, he was honestly trying to be a hero.
Final Fantasy: Cloud Strife and Squall Leonheart both start out as Anti-social, rude, emo d!cks but eventually become proper heroes.
King of Fighters: Compare Kyo from his introduction to now. Barely the same person
Avatar, the Last Air Bender: Zuko goes from a haughty, arrogant, sociopathic boy obsessed with honor, to a calm and relaxed team dad who leaves his family to save the world.
X-men: Gambit was amoral, narcissistic, and quite sarcastic, then became a brave trickster hero after being an X-men
all these characters went through a journey, JUST LIKE DANTE. If he's a bad character, so are they.

Could of used someone like Tidus or Hope...or AC Cloud.Cloud was never emo, he never once talked about his sadness, until Aerith died and even after that he used Aeriths death as a reason to keep on fighting (Since that's what emo means to most people) he just wanted to get his job done at the start and eventually warmed up to people and accepted them as equals/friends when he found out he's fighting for a much bigger cause. You're confusing FF7 Cloud with Advent Children Cloud.
...Are you Donte?
Are you Noah?Are you moses?
