Yet more evidence the US legal system is dumb:

Jury duty notice: "You've been selected to come in at X date. You MUST call in on Y date at Z time to see if you need to come in."

Jury duty website: "Sign in and let us know if there's any reason you can't come in." -five minutes later- "We didn't like your perfectly reasonable reasons for not being able to come in so you have to come in. Remember to call in on Y date at Z time to see if you need to come in."

Jury duty recording: "Your group must call in at a super specific time on the day you might need to come in to see if you need to come in two hours later."

So...how am I meant to schedule my day? I'd really like to know. Just...tell me if I need to come in or not. I've got enough going on without dealing with this, too.

Unbelievably self-absorbed, whiny, egocentric, lazy, spoilt brat.

I won't buy her some chocolate and somehow that escalates into an argument about how I'm the worst parent ever because I haven't bought her a car or driving lessons.

She spends EVERY SINGLE DAY in bed, watching Netflix, ignoring everyone else unless she wants something but I'M the selfish one. She doesn't clean, she doesn't do anything that doesn't revolve around her interests but apparently I'm utterly evil for not spending what little money I have all on her and her wants.

Never mind that I have two other children to consider, plus my own bills to pay PLUS her bills to pay because she is still a minor and also only working 4 hours a week (but of course I have no idea what work is like)...she can't have money off me and that makes me Satan in a dress.

When presented with the cold facts of financial independence, she whines it was different in my day. Sweetie, it's still my day and there are a mere 18 years between us and by your age I was in full time college, working two part time jobs and I damn well cut my cloth.

But, y'know, it was different then...:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

So much negativity in gaming these days and so many so called gamers commenting on articles on social media and forums about games/consoles they dont even like or in most cases have never even played. Saying things along the lines of 'How can anyone enjoy this trash!?, 'Who even plays this dead game anymore', 'Only idiots with low standards would play this game/console', 'This console has no games' and many fruitful comments of a more explicit nature. I see this on almost every single gaming article I read...

Why cant people just enjoy the games/systems they do play and leave others to enjoy theirs? Said it countless times over the years but promote what you enjoy instead of bashing everything you yourself dont enjoy. People are free to like what they like without having their opinions discredited because you dont like something. We wont enjoy every game we play but doesnt mean that no-one is allowed to enjoy it. You don’t have to argue with every single gamer who plays on a game/console that you don’t enjoy or claim to have no interest in. If you spend half your free time bashing things in that manner it says more about you.

I...am incredibly ambivalent right now. Honestly, I wonder if any other writer has been turned off by a good review before? I'm almost hesitant to even say why it bothers me, since I kind of feel like I'm supposed to walk on eggshells now...but the truth of it is, it does bother me. It bothers me that I got a good rating, based not on what WoN is, now that it's finished, but what it was a few years ago. On one hand, that sounds like it speaks well of my skills, right? But it also doesn't, when the reason the reviewer couldn't be bothered to write the review regarding the finished novel is because they couldn't be bothered to read it. Because it's not what they usually read. But also because of some undoubtedly mistaken belief that they're obligated to, just because I bought their recently-debuted novel.

I feel so ungrateful even saying any of this, but I can't help thinking that the praise was completely empty and disingenuous.

Ok so I already made on post, but apparently it's not only Tweeter now:

This, ladies and gentlemen, is journalism nowadays. OMG THEY MADE JOKE, how could they do it to us, how dare they, omg alt-right, omg offensive. Ok this is just dumb. Dumb and hilariously bad.

^Should be replaced with youngster screaming at everyone.

The emergency services suck.
Apparently you have to be panicking and screaming incoherently down the phone line before they'll send out an ambulance.
All I got for staying calm was 'we'll get a dispatcher to ring you back in 30 minutes'.
I'm not even fudging kidding.
So they'll come out for someone who has passed out because of a bee sting, but they won't come out for someone who has shredded their wrist up.
Nice one.
Moral of the story kids. Don't rely on the bloody emergency services. Do what you can while you can until you can personally hand the patient over to the ED.
Because them emergency number people are fudged.

I am also taking this to the DHB.
They only added to the trauma, didn't dissipate it and were overall completely unhelpful.
You should take him to your nearest ED.
Well, no **** Sherlock.

Idk, hon, maybe she'd tell you she was having suicidal ideation if you actually listened to a word out of either of our mouths and stopped with the judgment/holier-than-thou attitude and didn't shame her a week out of the hospital for having those thoughts. Like, f***, maybe you could pretend to be human like the rest of us do and actually show love and affection to your daughter instead of making sh*tty suicide jokes in front of her or complaining that she doesn't trust you. Gods know why she doesn't. /sarcasm

I mean, she's going to have these thoughts forever. Her doctor even said that. You don't just go to the hospital for attempting suicide and then come out never thinking about it again. Learn to be supportive, maybe?

I could have gone my whole life very happily without seeing the depths of some of that Sonic 'fandom'.

Do me a favor and direct them to this video...

There's something to be said about fighting long and hard to free yourself from toxic family members...only for something to happen to another family member that invariably forces you into a position where you're not only going to have to talk to said toxic family members, but likely see them, as well.

I'm torn between "my grandmother's condition is more important than my issues with other parties" and "yes, my grandmother is important, but I shouldn't have to effing deal with those people ever again".

I hate when someone makes a really good point about something that should be innocuous (ie. a character in a fandom, certain fanfics, the show/game/series their fandom is) and then ruins it all by being such a total d*** and shaming everyone who likes that thing. Like...we get it, dude, you get off on your own ego, but you don't have to go out of your way to ruin something for other people. You don't like that character? Don't consume fanworks about them. You don't like that fanfic or trope? Avoid them. This is why tags and summaries are a thing. You don't like that series, then why do you even go here? Why are you wasting your time? Why can't you just let people like harmless things? Not everything is some moral decision. Sometimes one thing just resonates with you better than anything else. Get over it and accept other people resonate with other things. People aren't just automatically bad because they like a different video game character/show/etc. than you. :/

Not as much of a rant as a frustration. Recently started work as a nanny but now have been offered a legal job that is imperative to my career development into a lawyer. If that recruiter had e-mailed me earlier, I would not have taken that nanny job! I need that legal job but unsure how to say it to the kid’s mum! Very annoyed and trapped :'(

The kid's mom will totally understand you. She'd rather have you be in this legal job, than nanny. Call them back and explain the situation, or schedule it for another time. It's actually in your court, man. Go get your job! :)

Thank you for this! I told her my situation, and have another interview soon :) she was indeed understanding

I am so sick of your words of discouragement and bullying. You want me to dress more confidently, whilst at the same time spit out toxic words like ‘fat’ and ‘unattractive’ at me. No wonder I am slowly developing a fear for all foods. I am terrified of seeing you due to fear of more insults being thrown at me and ruining my mood. Just today I felt good walking out of the house, until you pointed out my ‘horribly fitting trousers’. Screw you. I don’t care that you’re my mother. Stop being so negative. I’m already struggling as it is.

Anytime some purist asshat says "this game series is/isn't designed for...", it's followed by their specific preferences.
Like if they don't like over-the-shoulder, they will say "this series isn't designed for over-the-shoulder".
If they don't like co-op, they'll say "this game isn't designed for co-op".

The fun starts when they try to explain themselves and you can point out multiple inconsistencies quickly because their arguments are hasty and haphazard to begin.

Ultimately, it's all just a pathetic attempt to indirectly claim or imply that "this game (series) is designed for my specific preferences" and possibly imply "this game isn't made for you" in the long run.

What the game is or isn't designed for is really up to the developers and the guys who made them from the ground up.
Zone Of The Enders 2 was released on the PS2 as a 3rd person action game but they randomly made a VR port.
Because they can.
