Why do my parents think there's something wrong with me just because I don't wanna go out to have dinner? I just wanna stay home and watch South Park (just got into it and I find it hilarious), why's that so mind-numbingly crazy?

Oh I forgot. It's summer, so you HAVE to go out every evening or else you're a weirdo.

@Foxtrot94 I think it's weird that everybody is always going on about American Dad and Family Guy and I'm just like
cartman-pie.gif
But seriously, I get all my life advice from South Park. Can't go wrong with that.

Current rant: I hate needle work, I always stab myself. Like, stab stab stab, die finger, die!
I just don't like doing it. But now I have to because my fix-it pile of clothing is competing with my ironing pile.

+ Another point why they would make the worst guardians. They don't even know who Temple Grandin is. You'd expect someone who loves animals and who is all for favouritism would know who she is. But nope. Apparently finding out more about autism is too much effort for them, but they would scour the internet to find where they can buy the Favourite Brother's latest game or where he can go study and shnitz.
I just don't understand them. It's like.... yeah we love animals but only as long as it benefits us. Therefore when our love of animals get near the line where we need to actively show our love of animals, we turn our backs. Therefore when our adoration of our autistic grandchild gets near the line where we need to actually learn about her disability and attempt to understand it, we turn our backs. Oh, but we still love animals and she's still our favourite.
I mean.
Flock off, parents.

Besides the fact that he was just parroting Jim Sterling, that's not true. There have been some damn good conferences over the years, heck, just last year's Bethesda's conference was awesome, for example.

I think main issue is that games are getting bigger and bigger, more ambitious and more expensive and gamers are expecting too much in a lot of cases. That and the wait for titles after they have been announced because of this change in scale and scope is longer than ever.

I mean so many games were revealed at E3 that arent even due to release until late 2017 and some likely to be delayed if past experience is anything to go off. I think gamers attitudes are becoming more of an issue than the companies themselves, the developers and console creators are doing their best to fix past mistakes and give gamers what they want. Instead all an ever growing percentage of gamers these days see is the negatives and scream greed and corruption every 5 mins and put on their tin foil hats.

Its common sense that companies are going to need to recoup the money they have invested and more aggressive tactics and some questionable business decisions might come into play for all companies. Some of these companies are given free passes for those decisions whereas others are more closely scrutinized and vilified.

I wouldn't mind having PS2-era graphics in exchange for more game mechanics (like that three-genre shenmue/sh/dmc hybrid idea I mentioned a while back).

As a matter of fact, even PS1 graphics might be able to do the trick (provided they're on Vagrant Story's level of technical and art design) -- maybe.

Wasnt directly referring to games graphics as much as game worlds, physics and in game systems/AI etc. There are still some good games that dont have the best engines or graphics that are created these days but the tools to create them can come at a cost to smaller developers unless they use in house games engines. Then you have to have the cash to invest in a bigger team to design these engines however.

Gamers who would accept these style graphics etc are in decline however as those gamers who have already experienced the early eras of PS1 (and long before in my case) have gotten older. These days younger gaming audience are the ones who expect everything to look amazing as its all they have known and they are the ones pushing the industry for all games to be hitting 1080p/60 FPS and soon 4K displays and the like. So many amazing games have practically been ignored because of how they look that have released in last few years and thats disappointing. Most have to crowd fund or be released at a vastly reduced price on Steam for example to attract buyers.

Edit: Ok, seriously though, while it's downright awful that these phenomenal games need to be kickstarted, I can't ignore that this is the reality we live in.

If all the tools you've stated above cost too much money (even for PS1 graphics), then go 2D.

If it's too much for 2D, go for turn based text.

And if that costs too much... tabletop. I mean... you've gotta take an idea somewhere. Eventually, someone else will do it anyway (in time).

Look how long it took to blend metroid, jet li: rise of honor, splinter cell, and condemned: criminal origins into Batman: Arkham Asylum.

----

It'll be 20 years before someone creates Silent Shen Cry... but it'll be worth the wait.

They have to consider customer base however and sales numbers, there are simply far more younger gamers than those still gaming from the early generations so they have to go with the majority and what they believe they will buy. Hence why so many franchises these days are sold on looks alone and style over substance. Most modern gamers would turn their noses up at most of those suggestions.

Sorry to change the topic, but what exactly are the 4k display things about? It makes about as much sense to me as teraflops...which I still don't entirely believe are real. -confused-

HD came after standard resolution and then Blu Rays replaced DVD as standard formats and the next step up after 1080p HD comes 4K. Its actually estimated that by 2025, more than half of US households are expected to have a 4K-capable TV so industry is moving quickly to adapt to this.

Wikipedia as explains it better than I could...

"4K resolution" refers to a horizontal resolution of approximately 4,000 pixels. The use of width to characterize the overall resolution marks a switch from previous television standards such as 480i and 1080p, which categorize media according to its vertical dimension.

But Batman: AA was one of the few genre-fusing titles that actually had substance.

This was in the seventh-gen, btw. That means, that after a long line of horrendous Batman titles, someone finally managed to do it right.

----

You're correct however; batman would've sold a lot more than Acrobatic Detective: Psycho Sanctuary.

What I'm saying is, one day someone will make another famous superhero franchise, and put the ideas that I've talked about in there.

Edit:

Superman: Red Phantom Zone (nerfing supes to the point of OP Dante -- and switching between New Krypton (shenmue), Phantom Zone (dmc), and the Psycho Zone (silent hill)).

Yes, 4k will eventually replace all tvs, but I just got a new (non 4k) tv, and have no intention of replacing it (unless it breaks down) -- ever.

Scorpio will most likely be compatible with it anyway, so I have nothing to worry about.

----

If Scorpio2 ends up supporting 4k only, then I'll just keep buying more old games on the X1 because I honestly could care less at this point.

I'm not going to keep spending just to follow a tv or vr trend... not even if it means getting 'left behind'.

There will always be exceptions to the rule and im not really one to follow trends either until they drop in price and replace older tech or there is a good deal. I have no intention of getting 4K any time soon unless there is a hell of a deal on a TV for my lounge that I cant refuse. I will likely get the Xbox One S and then the Scorpio model at a much later date when prices have dropped and 4K TV's are starting to replace the current models.

If I don't get sleep soon I'm going to lose my mind. Autism sucks - he's tired, I'm tired and nothing helps. Even the specialist has said he's got no idea how to help; Jake just doesn't respond to any behavioural therapy.

I'm so exhausted. All day I'm a freaking zombie and there's no respite in sight. Almost 5 years of this crap...my gosh, it's destroying me slowly from the inside out

@VampireWicked 100% agree with you. Why do so many games make multiplayer so difficult? Why do I have to preform Herculean tasks to play with my friends...which is kinda the whole point of playing multiplayer, right? :/ There was a game I was in beta for and they let you just...add everyone from party chat into it or you just opened friends list, invited someone, and then boom you were in a match together. Literally that simple. I don't understand why more games don't do that.
