Yeah, I recon they've got to be equally matched. Vergil is just more of a perfectionist control-freak, which is why he kicks Dante's butt all over the place. Dante's just too...well... what's the word to describe him? Well, anyway, I recon Vergil is always one step ahead of him, whereas Dante acts more on impulse and the here-and-now action. If you get what I mean.

Seriously, Dante and Vergil are weaker than Sparda.
Sparda was a full demon, but he cared for humans and that's what made him stronger. His powers came from that love he had for humans.
Dante and Vergil, no matter how much 'heart' they can have, they're still half-breeds.

I have always found that speech in DMC4 interesting. It's almost like saying that when it all comes down to it a demons higher physical ability means nothing as they are cold and emotionless, nothing really drives them. That scene where Nero is trying to Save Kryie at HQ comes to mind how he tore his way through angelo after angelo to try and save her.
Like if you are able to trigger that raw determination coupled with demonic power you become stronger than both.

You would expect the strongest to win though.
With Vergil being first born outta the twins, i would have thought that Vergil would've been stronger than Dante.

Maybe Dante and Vergil are stronger than Sparda, or can become stronger, because of that human side of them. Like, in Bleach, the characters that are both Shinigami and Hollow hybrids are considered the strongest because they are not just one, or the other. They are both.

Definitely not. He kicks butt wayyy cooler and better than the twins in my fic (Sparda is AWESOME!!)

Also the Majin form comes to mind, that wasn't Sparda that was Dantes form at its full potential. Going by that Dante is anything but half of what his father was.
