The problem with Capcom is that they are too comfortable with what they have working. (Mainly Monster Hunter and Street Fighter)
Honestly speaking, I think Capcom is just struggling on coming up with fresh ideas for their IPs, so at this point it's safe to say that they won't be making a strong comeback for any of their products, unless they start listening to their fans. They need to pull a Nintendo and start listening to their fans more in order to come up with games that their consumers like. Not just adding continuations and updated versions of existing games, but expanding on them with an series of games the their fanbase likes.
I believe it's easier for Capcom to do this rather than a company like Sega, seeing how diverse Sega's fanbase is while Capcom's fanbase pretty much want similar things.
