Joy Begets Anger (DmC-related)

I personally was annoyed with ME3 not so much with the somewhat weird original ending but that it presumed you (the player) had splashed cash on all the previous DLC and were therefore completely up to date with current events.

That was a problem. Games should never do that :/

It's like when Kingdom Hearts II referred to events that only happened in the Japan-only Kingdom Hearts Final Mix. So annoying >.<

You know, all this talk about skeptics and supporters, reminds me of the flame wars we had back in 2012.
At one point, CoolDemon and Agility (neither of which are still on) were arguing and derailing a thread over something I can't remember, and eventually, DragonMaster and I got caught smack-dab in the middle of it.
The thing that really stood out about that thread for me (even though I really don't remember anything else about it)
was since Agility wouldn't stop flaming everybody (He did it to both skeptics AND supporters), DragonMaster tried to abandon thread, and I quoted his abandon thread post saying that we all had to put up with our fair share of this crap, which managed to PULL DRAGON BACK INTO THE THREAD.
Ah
Nostalgia.

The only thing I can say about this is that understanding one's perspective on gaming does help in situations where insults are being thrown at a person for an opinion on something they like or dislike.

Speaking of, I just recently had someone tell me I should be culled for inferior genes because I thought the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy was okay. Then they proceeded to spout the same tired and parroted vitriol that was either wholly subjective or doesn't actually hold up to facts in the games themselves.

So...I told them they insulted me right out of the gate and won't change their mind, so they could go f#ck their own face.

It really makes you step back and think, doesn't it?

Thoughts that come to mind:

What the hell is wrong with humanity? No, seriously-wtf? Remember when we used to fight about stuff that was actually worth fighting for? But now, people fight about something as simple as differing opinions on a videogame. :/

It doesn't matter that I don't care for DmC, or that I think Mass Effect, COD, BF, and several other big titles are overrated-I sure as hell wouldn't spend my time telling the people that do like these games that the games suck, and thus, because they like them, they should kill themselves...

People can like whatever the hell they want; I can't even begin to fathom what makes people think they have a right to try and control the opinions of others. I'm all for civil debate and expressing your views in a way that might possibly change the other person's mind, if they're open to it-but anything more than that? No, it's useless.

@TWOxACROSS O_O Oh, wow...yeah, I don't blame you for your reaction in the slightest.

Because if we're not biting each others heads off over vapid and minuscule things like video games, we'll be forced to realize our world is going to sh!t and there's very little we can do about it. Just as video games, books, and movies give us an escape from reality, arguing about them does too :/

True, but there's gotta be a line drawn, right? There's a stark difference between a civil argument, and one that involves making it personal-of course, I know you know that; I'm just pointing it out. ^^;

Oh, well that's simple; humanity is a big bowl of sugar-frosted crazy flakes.

Oh the mental image right now...

If there's one thing I'm good at, it's making people use their imaginations. You're welcome.

I remember being insulted after saying that PlayStation All- Stars was no better than Super Smash bros.. Everyone started shunning me until I told them to let me explain. After some large amounts of arguing with me being calm since I was used to this, they realized that I had some good points. They especially changed their stances when we played Brawl and were having a good time.

A friend of mine thought DmC was utter trash. So, to annoy him, I started playing it when he came over to my house. He wanted to leave but I told him to wait until I did an advanced combo. Once I was fine, he said the game was too easy. I placed a bet saying that he had to do my chores if he couldn't do the combo in the next week. He's been trying for the past month and now enjoys the game's gameplay.

I think by the end of the day, it comes down to actually experiencing the game from another person's perspective. I can't prove to you why the game is better than you think but let me guide you through it so you can see why it is good to me.

I have a knack for actually listening to gripes and praises. I guess you can say as a gamer, I've developed an empathic structure. I try to influence others to understand that there are different point of views that they cannot see until they destroy the barricade of selfishness.

We all enjoy different things and it's proven to us all over the world especially in entertainment. It's not our faults that this person is so self absorbed that they can't see what's in front of them. This type of person ruins it for some of us who let it.

Empower yourselves with the empathic structure. Alot of times, if you say you don't like something, someone is going to try and insult you. Alot of you know this and still continue to wonder about these people. Don't. Insults are not constructive criticism. They are meant to make you upset and react. Whether you react there on the spot or someplace else, you're still reacting to it and thus have created this hopelessness in some reader or listener. When you react, you're just respawning the idea that gamers don't get along.

That's literally our reputation right now. It's an actual stereotype. If you're curious as to who, out of all companies, is trying to stop this madness; it's Nintendo.

The two that's building on our bad reputation are Sony and Microsoft. Competition is fine to some, but when these companies are going at each other especially in their slogans "It's more fun on Xbox One" and "Where the greatest play". It creates this fuel for people to fight and clash all over the net. The latest thing people are arguing about 1080p 60fps. Believe it. Negativity in gaming is literally creating certain types of gamers that definitely become more violent overtime.

I'm certain some of you don't know why I'm posting things like this and that's ok. It only proves that we all have a point of view on things.

Meanwhile at Nintendo

Whoa. This is ... my whole outlook on life, honestly. I mean, if there were to be anything written on my headstone, it would most likely be this:

Here lies the Ethereal Reaper.

Friend. Coworker. Forum Provocateur.

But not "son" because he was so awesome, he literally willed himself into existence.

"Games, Movies, Shows, Books, and our Flame Wars about them are our only escape from reality. Because our world is utter crap."

-- Quote Taken From Best Friend and Pro-DmC Ally "Insights" -- [Get it? 'Cause it's like, "I have them in my sights"? It was either that or "Death Longshot"-- I'm really bad with code names.]

---------------------------------------------------

So anyway, what I'm trying to say is that, I could never find a better way to describe life even if I tried.

Best quote ever.

Seriously though, here is a quote by one of our very own members that I think really applied to the DmC flame wars
Respect guys, it's a two way street
-Spawn Shooter
I saw this rule broken by both skeptics and supporters

For instance, when Tameem dissed on the original series back in 2012, I saw a lot of supporters defend him saying "He was just stating his opinion!", the same supporters who dissed on skeptics all the time for voicing theirs.

On the other hand. I saw a lot of skeptics saying things like "LOL Their trying to hard to rely on the original games." Despite their initial complaints about the reboot not being true to the originals.
In the end, we were all ****ing hypocrites

I'll call bullsh!t on this till the day I die, because I was there for all of it, and never saw it happen. It wasn't that something was his opinion, things were taken way out of context to sound like insults.

But, whatever, yes. Respect goes both ways, but I'm the kind of guy that has trouble respecting those that don't respect me and mine :p

We've all said and done things we're not proud of in the heat of the moment. To be honest, I'm glad I didn't come here until things were already starting to cool down-in fact, I'm pretty sure that's one of the reasons I didn't come here right away. Let's put it this way; youtube frigging exploded; if a video site that's made for anything and everything in general could do that, then I didn't even want to fathom what was happening on a Devil May Cry message board. O_O

Additionally, I got into some arguments there that, quite frankly, I would be ashamed of if it had been here. No, I didn't go out of my way to outright attack DmC supporters, but there did come a point where I labelled them all the same while dealing with some of the biggest pr*cks of the lot.

Luckily, I figured out it worked both ways...but still, not proud of the knee-jerk reaction I had.

I still can't really seem to get into DmC, but on the plus side, I don't feel hostile toward it anymore, either. Progress, I guess.

But isn't that a good thing?

I mean, honestly I prefer people arguing about video games over people killing each other over wether or not we should give people of a different skin color basic human rights.
