General DMC 5 Discussion

Welp. There you go. They removed the song from the game's official channel. You've all done it. Congratulations. I am impressed.
Why you throwing shade at us? All we've done in this thread is express our dislike of Dante's theme within the boundaries of reasonable discussion. There's no reason to get angry at the the silent majority just because of some bad apples. :bored:

@Lain
I’m not angry. I don’t have enough attachment to the song to be angry about it. Taken aback is more like it. A sorta ‘wow, that just happned’ kind of thing. Also, I am referring to the whole of the internet, and we are a part of it. Us, 4chan, the comments section of YouTube, Twitter and every other place that talked about it. It was the collective reaction of the internet that lead to the takedown, ourselves included. We can’t really separate ourselves from that reaction because it still added to the effect.

@TWOxACROSS
The word ‘hate’ was thrown around and I’m pretty sure someone said good riddance, and that’s just here. As Lain said, we’re a pretty amicable place where people are civil and if Capcom had to judge the reaction to the song just from people here I don’t think they’d be as enthusiastic about it as they were this morning. In fact, they’d definitely feel like we hated it. Considering how it went last time they just thought it was the vocal minority they certainly took action quickly.

That’s actually who I feel the most sorry for, Capcom. It was all going really well. People were exited for DMC5, everyone was giving them the thumbs up at the progress of the game, and in one fell swoop it’s getting pretty savage again. People are making angry reaction videos, gifs, and memes at record speeds, there are threads at 4chan celebrating the takedown of the music video, there’s a huge possibility that they have to rethink the trailer they had planned, which might’ve been out now had circumstances not been as they are, and there are rumors of them going bankrupt. I’m sure they’re second guessing themselves pretty heavily right now.

You also do have to remember that it could definitely have to do with the optics of people finding out what the singer had done. Of course there's a lot of hate from what people think of the song, but when I review, a lot of the comments saying they wouldn't buy it was because they didn't want to indirectly support the band and an alleged sexual abuser; they weren't refraining from a purchase because of the song itself, at least not from what I saw.

Don't get me wrong, anyone making toxic reaction videos over a bad song is a piece of ****, but let's not act so surprised. The worst of this community came out with DmC, but maybe it wasn't DmC that made them that way. Maybe they were just a bunch of ****gibbons the whole time.

I'm sure Capcom will be fine, though I do feel sorry for them too.

EDIT: It's certainly a buzzkil for Capcom, is what I mean.

Someone also brought up that it's possible that the composer/producer Cody Matthew Johnson may have been mostly responsible for bringing on the band, too. Whether he's with Capcom or a contractor, I dunno. Either way, Capcom doesn't owe anyone an apology :/

So the bike is called the Cavalier, I s'pose, and you'll get a red one from the deluxe edition. I wonder if those new Devil Breakers are also just skins of the others.

EDIT: Also does the Helm Splitter look...really slow, or is that just me?

Yeah. That is a fair point.

Edit:
I’ve seen the trailer once or twice now but I want to digest it more before I say my peace on it.

Thank you!! Yes, it does. I was trying to think of how to describe it and all I can think to say is that it looks like he’s doing it under water, like there’s friction in the air between him and the ground. But not just with the helm breaker, in a lot of other spots he looks disproportionately slow and floatty (?).

Taking a page from Bayonetta 2's book with some online fun...?
Actually, did you know that in the prototype for B1 you could use a motorcycle in a similar fashion to this game?
Example around the 6 min. mark.

Will the creators redeem themselves to the fans in finding better artist(s) for Dante’s theme? And possibly remake the trailer?

It might also be the really janky use of that slow-motion feature. It doesn't help a lot of the animations.

I was talking about the seemingly three player network play option from the PSN description. But interesting!

They have nothing to redeem. They made a bad call, got a crappy song from a band with a singer who did something crappy. Get a new song definitely, but nothing more needs to ever be done. They didn't drive over your grandma.

Also - looking at the Cavalier (bike), and seeing that boss that Dante fights, it looks like it might actually be that boss' devil arm. The boss has the same wing-like mantle on its shoulders that are on the frame of the bike, and it's got similar spikes on the front wheels that look like the boss' horns and stuff.

Has anyone found hi-res art of Dante, Trish & Lady?
Maybe. How much you got?

Massive dump of info here:

I kinda like the pre order outfits:

At first I thought Dante's pre order outfit was some nod at the Prototype protag, but now I realize it's just Dante wearing Donte's look. He makes it look SOOO much better.
Hey, man. You’re busting up my business, here!

I just hope Vergil makes a return someday.

Now this third character "V" shows up teasing.

Still no sign of Kyrie yet!!!

Looks like Dante’s wielding Sparta again.

I know, that was just some side trivia.

They didn't drive over your grandma.
Or did they? They did, didn’t they?

Ok, everyone, listen up. I’m sorry. I did not realize that the band had run over all of your grandmas. You had every right to be angry and while I while I was saying this and that I realize that I had no right to get all preachy about it because they didn’t run over any of my grandmas, which might’ve been because all my grandmas have passed on so I have no grandma left for them to run over. We may never know. Either way, that was insensitive of me.

Well the trailer is dope. New moves for the gauntlet weapon, new weapons, new moves for Red Queen too while using the powering up Devil Breaker... This makes me hyped to see a Dante demo, and that's definitely a good thing.

Well, I guess I'm an idiot for hoping they wouldn't uglify Trish's face. At least Lady looks more than fine, thank God.

I don't think she looks ugly at all, though I do get how in some shots she does look a bit odd.
That is definitely due to the game's visual choice and the RE Engine, because they went for the "realistic" look and face scanned the real life models with little polish afterwards.

It's why I found Nico to be pretty ugly in that first shot in the announcement trailer when she said "Hey honey, need assistance?", her smile creeped me out there, yet I find her to be pretty attractive in other shots.

Same thing will happen with Lady too, I guarantee it.

I know I repeat myself, but I don't feel any of them that ugly. Game is very heavy on uncanny valey side and I thnik it has to do with RE7 engine.
