Frame Consistancy

To be honest, the PS3 always had problems with frame/loading issues most of the time when it comes to certain games.

I've noticed most of the time when there are multiplatform games, Xbox 360 usually gets the better end of the deal when it comes to framerate consistency and loading times. However I'll probably get DmC on my PC.

And I dunno if this was frame issues as much as it was a glitch but I once used Drop with the arbiter and Dante froze in place but I could hear the move happening in the background and then suddenly the enemy in front of me flew up in the air as if it had been hit by it. It was the coolest thing.

Sounds like the glitch that I did with Rake. Did you land as right before you inputted the attack?

i have the cutscene issue do. other then that underwatch is fine. SECRET INGREDIENT on the other hand has framerate issues like there are no tommorow in cutscenes and ive had the sound cut out multiple times in both the cutscenes and in the combat a few times.

Well, from a game engineer's perspective, there is one major difference between Unreal Engine 3 on the XBOX 360 and the PS3- the XBOX uses DirectX and PS3 uses OpenGL. There's certainly nothing wrong with OpenGL, but there may be some issues with Unreal's OpenGL backend, specifically with shaders. It's just a guess, as I haven't had a lot of experience with the engine recently, but it seems like it would be the most likely culprit at the moment.

In that case, they'd need some pretty hardcore 3D engineers to make their custom version of the engine look similar across the implementations. I just think it would be a shame if my loyalty to Sony (born out of my obsession with DMC ;] ) backfired on me due to the new engine. If so, I might eventually have to buy the PC version to make sure I get the best visual experience.

So...an at most 2 frame drop on PS3...I never really noticed :x

Gotta be something with the PS3 then, because that's really weird that it works fine on the other - although 360 seems to have more glitches >.<

People need to stop saying there are no framerate dips, there are already analysis that prove that there are framerate dips, sometimes up to 20 on the PS3 version. If you don't notice them, lucky you, but the framerate is garbage.

I wish there was one of those videos for the Under Watch part of the demo.

Well, I dunno, I guess my definition of "bad framerate" is a lot lower than others. I used to play .hack//GU, and that game had some serious framerate lag because of the constantly moving battle fence, but I just kept going. Maybe it's just my tolerance for them is better, or maybe my eyes don't notice the smaller dips.

I mostly play Under Watch in the demo because I like doing more group fights than the boss. Maybe it's more noticeable in Secret Ingredient or something, I dunno.

Either way, as long as the game doesn't lag to .hack//GU levels, I'm perfectly fine with how it plays.

And I played and loved Lords of Shadow, the thing is, they already cut the series' default framerate by half, and they can't even make it a solid 30? That's completely absurd and we have to complain, we can't show them we're ok with that. I'm not okay with 20fps for a DMC game, that's ridiculous.

Even 30 was already an insult, but I was like "well, okay, I can live with that as long as it's a rock solid 30", but not even that! The moving environments are very cool the first time you play it, even the second, but after you've played the demo more than 10 times like most of us have, you don't give a damn about the environments anymore, this is no excuse to **** on the fanbase, the people who really care about the game and will keep playing and making videos about it 5 years after it comes out.

Skyrim on the PS3 after playing for about 15 hours. Nuff said.

But yeah, 360 all the way for me. And then I'll get the PC version when it comes out... since people are saying that it looks beautiful (like most games, really) and 60fps.

I don't mind the lag or the dips as long as it doesn't drop to like... ALMOST HALF THE FRAMES (which is in the cutscene segments ugh), because holy crap that is the most jarring crap ever if you are actually fighting.

Times like these remind me why I slap my Sonic fan friend who doesn't give two ding dongs about framerate when it's so damn obvious in most Sonic games.

Woah dude...calm down. It sucks they halved the framerate, but you're going overboard saying their insulting you and ****ting on the fanbase. They're inconveniences sure, but you make it seem like they did it just to spite us, and that's just wrong. And the people who really care about the game are anyone who will come back to it, not just those that make videos about it five years later - you can't speak for everyone in those regards.

I guess this game is supposed to give you a different experience than the other DMCs, one where the story and environment are put forward along with the gameplay, instead of just simply being a game where people can show off their skills :/

The only glitch I've encountered so far is the one that has Dante on an invisible surface, but it wears off ones you move out.

I still haven't come across any glitches >.<

Granted, I'm not running around looking for them, I'm just playing the game.

Well going by that analysis the big drops were only during cutscenes. I own a 360 anyway, but I don't find that a big deal.

Holy crap, you wouldn't believe how annoyed I was when I played Sonic Unleashed on my PS3. When I played on the night stages, the lag was extremely unbearable. I swear the framerate dropped to 10fps.

That's the thing. When you have a decent idea of what works within a game you begin to wonder and experiment with random things. Which is what I did. Some people actually did encounter the "invisible attacking" glitch with other weapons on accident. And they it wasn't even executed the same way that I did. Turns out all you need to do is just press the attack button before you land. If I'm not mistaken, AngelMode and LeoXCV both experienced this.

However NT better fix the hitboxes that are within the game. Half of them do not make any sense at all.
