First DmC Review

While he may be overreacting, he's still right. This is the only place I've found where I'm not immediately **** on for having an interest in the game (even the goddamn Wiki isn't safe sometimes). Barring a few very standoffish individuals here, even people who are still on the fence or don't have an interest in it are easier to get along with. ChaserTech and I have butted heads quite a bit, but damn if he and I still haven't had civil discussions before. I don't think I've gotten that from anywhere else I've gotten into conversations about this game.

It's extremely easy to be gun-shy about this stuff after two years of constant vitriol. One can ignore YouTube comments all they want, but it still grates on the nerves, and on forums it's not as easy because vitriol can completely shift the mood and topic of a thread. It's really no joke that his place is a safe-haven for "supporters," if only because it's actually moderated enough to show that trolling and bullshit won't be tolerated like it is elsewhere.

I tried to sign up for NeoGAF before coming here, and I was dumbfounded as to why I needed a paid email (didn't even know those things still existed ), and even though their community seemed okay, I still got a bad vibe from the place when I would read through it looking for info...

I agree, this place is probably one of the few places where people can have a serious discussion about the game.

Even if there are people against the game here, they know how to give opinions without using savage efforts and childish insults.

Anyway, it's beyond me why people are surprised with the good reviews ( by people, I mean those who were 100% against the game). So, you really did believe that the game would get bad reviews, just because you're against it? That's what happens when lots of people start to notice how silly was hating a game for almost 3 entirely years, when the game may be not as bad as they hoped it to be.

Now it's predictable that we're seeing arguments like "reviews being bought, being paid" and so on. It's part of human nature. The haters need to keep their hate, they must keep their arguments, they need to somehow show that they didn't waste their time and years, complaining about a game that isn't bad. So, it's obvious that there is no way that DmC can be a good game, at least, not after complaining about it for 3 years, lol.

Biased or not, they need to show they're still alive and that they didn't lose that battle. Even if the game is awesome, they must say it's bad, they need to and they feel they have to say such thing.

There is no logic and no reason to be surprised with their reaction, though. So, we all should wait for more reviews ( positive ones) and haters will wait for the negative ones, so they need to keep their star shinning.

It's not hard at all, lol.

And to be quite honest, I don't think supporters should have to deal with people who don't like the game. Being on the fence or still waiting to be wowed is one thing, because there's still an interest there, but when people actively seek out what they don't like, just to **** on it and the people who do like it, they get no sympathy. There's really no good reason that doesn't make them look like a gigantic asshole. They're wasting their time by doing so, when they could be doing something so much more productive.

If someone has no interest in DmC, then they have no reason to be here...

It is great that people can voice their opinions here without being flamed but the point is that individual said they felt they couldn't post their true opinion of the game without people insulting them. Rather than ignore the post or ask them what they mean they were attacked.
This is strikingly similar to what people claims happens "everywhere" else only in reverse, evidently this place may not be as free from such behaviors as you guys claim. Or maybe it is, that's judged on how we react to eachother and if it's starts to be the case if you simply feel like you can't post negativity about DmC without being chased out by comments like "go somewhere else then" I think people should think about what they post about other places, lest you sound like a hypocrite.

Oh I'm sorry I didn't notice the name change here to DmC.org, are DMC fans no longer welcome if they dislike DmC?

Dude, he meant the DmC forum... if they don't like it why even bother? I don't like plenty of games and I don't go around looking for a forum dedicated to it.

It goes both ways, I agree.

We've had members here who disliked DMC but liked DmC and they were always welcome, as long as they were respectful.
Christ how do you guys think it became ok to discuss DmC here openly in the first place? through respecting each other. But no, we want to act like the elitist jerks that we complain about elsewhere now.

I'm pretty sure that if the opinion is measured and thoughtful, nobody would hold it against them.

If their opinion was that hopping in and going 'hur hur dis gayme is gun' be **** Ninjer Theorists suk bolls', it's not tough to imagine why such an approach would draw some ire. Also, having read new info via Neogaf and then browsing the comments there - about 98% of which is utterly braindead drivel fuelled by irrational hatred - I'll admit to becoming pretty jaded with the pessimism approach.

Moaning isn't good for the soul. Constructive discussion is. And stuff like 'HUR HUR at leest thers games liek MGS RIZING and BAYONHETTA 2 cummin out so we kan forget dis suckfest hur hur hi five guyz' deserves to burn in a fire.

Just to clarify, I'm not mentioning anyone in particular either for or against DmC. I've just seen a lot of really awful, spiteful 'arguments' against it that have been dripping with bile, venom and salty, salty tears, and it gets old fast.

I know, but it's kinda ridiculous if you think about it. Thing is if you're not interested, why even bother? Not: hey here's my critique about a game that I'm interested in, but not buying. Get my point?

So the first review gets 9/10....

figures.

Out of all the previews, i've only seen one guy say something negative about the game. And he said there were to many cutscenes in between the combat, and that the platforming was TOO challenging. On the other end, everyone says the narrative is great, Dante isn't the asshole you thought he was, and the platforming is a nice break from demon slaying.

who should i believe......

I don't like the new DmC that much yet I still actively participate in this forum with decent advice pertaining to it.

And there are times when I do question why some* (edited) is extremely open to accepting this game without criticizing some of the aspects at least. It's fine that most people like DmC, and I don't care about that, but what do gets annoying is seeing this game get constant praise while also seeing criticism that's being thrown at the game debunked because of things like:

The demo isn't the full game.
This is a reboot. It's not the same as the original DMC.
We should be open to changes.

Now please note I'm not singling anyone out by saying this. This is just from what I've experienced from multiple sites, not just here.

You're acting as if the DmC supporters are lowering this site's property values...

You're right if someone joins with that attitude they should not be tolerated, however as the point of this was that happens from both sides, I have had a magnitude of petty insults thrown my way because of my stance on a computer game which is pathetic. No one should have to feel that way, but people need to stop being so defensive and see when something is criticism and when it's blind hate. Hell even if it does turn out the game sucks, who cares. If you had fun with something that's awesome, I enjoy terrible games all the time. I don't care they're bad because I enjoy them. I don't feel the victim because not many others share my stance on their good merits

I don't follow sorry, what do you mean? as in flow of new members?

Well, I like platforming and storytelling, so those factors aren't a problem for me. ^^ it all depends on the person I think and what they look for in a game. And he did mention in that review you're talking about he wasn't much of a hack n slasher, so maybe he's not good with platforming? o.o

Too early to settle down on one thought. I'm pretty sure DmC will be getting mixed reviews.
I won't watch the reviews until i'm done playing DmC, partly because i'll be playing DmC non stop for a while but also because i could careless what other people have to say about the game. When its a good review, it always seems so.... defensive. First they mention the hair, then they mention the graphics then they mention how great the combat is, but when your watching how they're playing, they suck balls.

Oh man. Do I know those feels. It's just like you mentioned your post "platforming is too difficult" yet the player openly said he's not very good at the game. Yeah, it's hard to follow with the review when the player can't do that stuff...
