First DmC Review

First off, thankies for the photos :3
I'm not sure what the reviewer means by simplified combo system, though :/ Sure, I can only judge from the demo, but making combos didn't seem easier then what it was like in previous games? Unless they mean the style system, because yeah, it seems a bit easier to get high rankigs and stuff. But the combos themselves??
What he meant is probably how easy it is to chain together different string of combos since Dante have longer "pauses" between his sword swings.

Combos are alittle easier to do in terms of advanced gameplay. But in a basic sense, I'm not entirely sure.

I think they refer to no lock on, no trickster, no royalguard etc.

I still don't understand why people complain about the lack of styles. Once you think about it, almost every move from the styles still exists in DmC. Round Trip, Rainstorm, Sky Star, they're all there. What's the issue if NT have made it easier to access those moves? Actually in some ways they've made it harder.

But not all of them, angel glide is a serious downgrade from Trickster style for example, you can't teleport all around the battlefield in DmC

What? Angel Glide is a downgrade? How so? You can still use it for cancelling purposes.

And you can still teleport around the battlefield. Angel Lift and Angel dodge. Also, Vergil has air trick instead of Angel lift.

Actually, there is no Royal Guard or Trickster moves in DmC so there is atleast half moves missing. Plus, the guns are so weak in DmC the Gunslinger moves are virtually useless for damage purposes. It's nice we get some Swordmaster moves but that ain't much.

It's just a mishmash of moves that NT shoehorned in to try to appeal to the old fans.

Yeah...Angel Glide is just Skystar...and Angel Lift is the exact same utility as Air Trick; you're still moving towards an enemy, just not 'porting to them (although Vergil still does), and Angel Evade is Trickster's Dash.

WAAAAAAAAAAAIT A MINUTE, round trip is there? Please tell me more!

Now you're just talking out of your ass. I said most of the style moves. There's no royal guard, but there's a parry system in place because it was obvious that Capcom didn't want players to sit there blocking moves instead of fighting.

And the guns are not weak at all in DmC mate. You must be using them wrong. Just Charge ricoshot is the perfect combo starter on SoS. Inverse rainstorm is also insanely useful after high time or prop shredder.

It's Aquila's ground Special. You can charge it up and it slices up enemies...A LOT. Although, the hits can interrupt combo flow, so you have to account for them.

I personally can't wait to get Aquila, I'm gonna be Round Trippin' fools I don't wanna deal with so I can focus on someone else :3

Although, it can also be deflected right back at Dante, and can even kill him, if you're not careful :p So don't expect to just toss out Round Trip on a Frost Knight while you deal with a Hell Knight - the Frost Knight will bounce that sh*t off his shield and right back into Dante's coattails.

The startup for Angel Glide is fairly slow compared to Sky Star.. It's primary usage is to glide over distances.
Sky Star was fast and reliable. The start up was literally instantaneous.

And DMC4 Dante had no problem covering distances due to the combination of Stinger Jump (edit: off ledges), Sky Star, and Air Hike.

But Angel Lift and Angel Dodge aren't teleports . . .
So if you're using Angel Lift to go towards an enemy, and one is about to land an attack right before you lift off, chances are you're going to get hit. And I'm not sure but I believe this actually happened to me before. I'll need to retest it.

However, Air Trick had invunerability frames so you wouldn't get it. So it was kinda more reliable. You didn't get hit in the middle of a teleport because well . . it's a teleport.

I see what you're saying since it's basically the same concept. Moving from point A to point B. But ultimately I don't think it should be considered as a teleport.

"Most styles moves" implies the majority of the moves is in DmC. Half the moves are not. Atleast how I see it.

Dunno if Capcom or NT decided to take away Royal Guard but that style ain't just "sit there and block" because if you did, you would take chip damage and very slowly build up rage meter. Royal Guard is about learning the strict timing of enemy attacks and to get Perfect Guard while building meter at a faster rate and deal massive damage. The parry system in DmC is currently broken since you could just use Prop Shredder to parry an attack, making it easy as hell.

Meh, maybe you are right about the guns. Never been much of a Gunslinger user anyway. They just feel weak to me in the demo.

I remember playing as Vergil in DMC3 HD recently, and just having fun doing Trick Up in place to phase out during enemy attacks...it was just fun. It's like I was just smoke :3

Angel glides start up is a direct result of the 30fps. An instantaneous dash would look ridiculous in a 30fps game.

Vergil has Air Trick. Problem solved.

I personally don't think so. Considering the fact that most DMC4 videos are rendered at 60 fps then uploaded to YouTube showing 30fps. Yet it still looks fairly decent.

Vergil has Air Trick. Problem solved.

But I have to buy him. So that presents another problem in itself.

Damn, I'm glad we're getting round trip back then! I love that move!

While I'm sad it isn't on a sword, the fact that you can toss it out and continue combos like normal is certainly welcome n.n I do love how it's like just tossing out a giant energy saw blade.
