First DmC Review

Oh man. Do I know those feels. It's just like you mentioned your post "platforming is too difficult" yet the player openly said he's not very good at the game. Yeah, it's hard to follow with the review when the player can't do that stuff...
The thing i don't like about reviews or previews is the player just runs through the game. With little to no exploration. I think i could give every game a try and have something good to say about it (except Blades of Time) & (Call of Duty...yada yada) Thats because i enjoy gaming and i like the experience that only a video game can give. The guy would doesn't like hack and slash games who does a preview is like me doing a Halo 5 review. And i'm sure i could sum up my entire review after the first chapter too.

You don't have to do that man, I wasn't telling you or Paexie to leave this thread I'm just tired of all the fighting. Why can't we all just get along? :)

Exactly, I just don't really have anything to discuss regarding the review so felt I had no more to offer.
Thanks for the re-assurance though :P

Man, looks like we are not going to get that many bosses -waves goodbye to any hope I had of getting a Phantom boss fight-

I am glad to see the game is getting good reviews. I mean I was sure it would, but I didn't know how good they would be. Just from the demo and every piece of the game I have seen so far I can say that I think it'll be a 9 for me as well.

15 days left.

It is great that people can voice their opinions here without being flamed but the point is that individual said they felt they couldn't post their true opinion of the game without people insulting them. Rather than ignore the post or ask them what they mean they were attacked.
This is strikingly similar to what people claims happens "everywhere" else only in reverse, evidently this place may not be as free from such behaviors as you guys claim. Or maybe it is, that's judged on how we react to eachother and if it's starts to be the case if you simply feel like you can't post negativity about DmC without being chased out by comments like "go somewhere else then" I think people should think about what they post about other places, lest you sound like a hypocrite.

EDIT:

Oh I'm sorry I didn't notice the name change here to DmC.org, are DMC fans no longer welcome if they dislike DmC?

The thing is that when a person says anything, they are opening themselves to have what they say challenged. I feel that Gbraga is also being a little oversensitive. I recently called him out on nitpicking (which he most certainly seemed to be doing), I challenged that, because it was really nitpicky. If I went overboard, I'm sorry for that, but at least we both said our feelings on the matter, and one of us didn't brush the other aside with insults. However, we have to remember where we are - the mood of the setting plays a big part in what you should expect; you're on a forum full of supporters (some staunchly so), you need to steel yourself a little better when you say something counter to that, just as I have to steel myself on YouTube knowing un-moderated vitriol can come my way if I comment or reply.

Like I said though, it's easy to be gun-shy when someone says something negative, and flying off the handle. I'm trying to catch myself more on that, because I've realized that I myself have become gun-shy. Although there are some points when I just give no quarter.

And yeah, I was talking about this part of the forum (the DmC forum), not this fora as a whole :x Overall, though, my point still stands; if you don't like something, shut your goddamn mouth and move on

At least here, on this DmC forum on devilmaycry.org, I can actually relax. This is the place for me, a supporter, to feel at ease when I talk about this game. If I defend this space a bit too aggressively, I apologize, but damn man, the warzones I've already waded through, I deserve this peace.

I just really hate it when the guys (and gals) who do not wish to buy it and won't see any positives in it state that their opinion is fact. Opinion and fact are two different things!

I don't like the new DmC that much yet I still actively participate in this forum with decent advice pertaining to it.

And there are times when I do question why some* (edited) is extremely open to accepting this game without criticizing some of the aspects at least. It's fine that most people like DmC, and I don't care about that, but what do gets annoying is seeing this game get constant praise while also seeing criticism that's being thrown at the game debunked because of things like:

The demo isn't the full game.
This is a reboot. It's not the same as the original DMC.
We should be open to changes.

Now please note I'm not singling anyone out by saying this. This is just from what I've experienced from multiple sites, not just here.

I, for one, never think of something as wholly perfect. I'm wary of golden praise as much as I am abject criticism, because I still base things on my own feelings as much as possible. I know DmC isn't perfect, and has some flaws, but I suppose for myself, I don't see them as glaring blemishes that completely ruin the game - I've found incredible entertainment in this game despite what's different or what's "wonky" (so to speak) because of bugs and whatnot.

And to you personally, Chaser, you and I have butted heads, but I actually respect your thoughts because of how you have approached it all, and how you've consistently been open to hearing more. You don't just shut your ears when someone says something on the contrary, you listen, and even sometimes change your mind

So we can't complain about something we don't like?

I guess it's not so black and white, no. It's just born from a way I live my life these days, because I used to spend a lot of time dwelling on crap, and I realized there was so much more I could be doing besides that. It literally got me no where, and I could spend my time doing productive things like learning new languages, writing books, and falling in love :p

I still feel that if you have no interest you have no reason to be on a place that supports it, because it's just...not the right place to do it, I guess? Either let it be or find an "I hate [this]" forum and go nuts, but don't jump into a place that supports it, because it'll just make you look like an asshole trying to pick fights and stir up trouble :/

However, you don't much care for the game itself, but you're still very helpful, and you've given it a try, and you still seem to care about the overall franchise. Your stance may be just the same as many others spewing vitriol, but there's something different about how you handle it - you haven't completely written off the game as "****" and you're above pettiness. People like you, Dominus, and SpawnShooter (sorry to call you guys out :x) are some of the most respectable people I've seen so far that aren't supporters.

If only everyone could be like that >.<

Personally, I don't think that the gameplay will ultimately break the full game even though it's not up to standards in my book. Story-wise, I don't know how well it will do since I haven't played the full game. Therefore I wouldn't know.
And I'm not going to compare the story when we only know parts of it. But I think it will do well since it's one of the few hack n' slash games that has decent combat, good visuals, and maybe an interesting story from what NT is showing us.

I even said in a review of the DmC demo that I believe the game would do decent. Since I honestly doubt the game would flop. And if it does flop, I would be a bit surprised. (Although, I'm not gonna lie, I'll probably laugh at the irony.)

Oh well in that case lemme change that.

SCREW YER OPINIONS, PAST DMC GAMES ARE AWESOM!!

Y CHANGE DANTE'S HAIR BLLAH LBAHLAHB
BABY TEARS???
VERGIL YOSHI WTF?!
SEX SCENE EW!!!

Thar we go.

No but in all seriousness, I do respect what you have to say as well. And because I respect it, I try to have decent responses.

I understand. However sometimes people feel the need to cause a storm just because something that they liked was changed. Personally I wanted to see what the DmC community has to offer and it's...kinda divided as ever.

Either you love it, hate it, or you are stuck on the fence.

And thanks. I just like to keep an open mind of things. But in the beginning I was raging pretty hard, 2 years ago.
I was basically confused. And when the first gameplay trailer was shown I thought this game would flop.
Now I'm sorta meh about the whole game and I don't care what happens to DmC. I just would like DMC to make a comeback somehow even though it might not be possible.

If you're looking for a place where you can bash(or even insult) this game you litterally have all the internet for that This is obviously a site where people who like what they've seen and played of DmC so far come to discuss. I would even say it's the ONLY place where people can openly show their support for the game without having to fight an army of trolls. Why should it have to be exactly like the dozens of other sites?
Yes people here get defensive when you attack the game...SO WHAT? After the crap the so called "true fans"(what a joke name) have fed us for 2 years now i'd say those who like DmC have every right to tell them to go f*ck themselves. Don't act like you were gonna talk some sense into me or others. If i want to "blindly" love a freaking video game then who are you to tell me i'm wrong by doing so? Like i said if you don't like the crowd and its behaviour here then feel free to go to places where you can talk with more level headed and mature people like whinerfaqs, youtube, neogaf, etc....lol.
But here's the thing, I am excited for the game, I like this game, I even preordered this game and can't wait to play it. Doesn't mean there aren't things about it that I think are bad and deserve criticism. No game is perfect, even my favorite games are flawed and I have several bad things about it that I could go on and talk about.

And please, youtube and gamefaqs? You're really putting NeoGAF in the same level as those?

I may be missing something, but I counted the same amount as DMC4, of course I'm not couting that horrible Savior **** ass boss fight.

There's 7 in DMC4

Berial
Dagon/Beal
Echidna
Agnus
Credo
Sanctus
Dante

The Savior can go to hell as well as the "window boss" in mission 6...

Credo is the best boss that I have ever played against in any hack n' slash game.
Don't know why, but it's just incredibly fun fighting against him. Not to mention the environment is amazing for something so simple. An overcast of a mountainous region and lakes seems intriguing to me despite the grayish color palette.

Have you ever done the double Credo fight?
