DmC: Eastern to Western

I highly disagree. Most DmC fans have indeed admitted and pointed out the mistakes in DmC.

To you it was alright. To me, it was an obstacle keeping me from the great gameplay. Chalk it up to a difference of opinion.

I think I'll put the above line in my sig.

Well, every game needs cutscenes and dialogue and you can't do anything about it,now do you?

That's not exactly what I saw,you know :
"bad story" "bad character development" "why they added Nero after all" "why is it like an anime" "why it's so focused on gameplay" <- even though they forget it's a video game after all.
"why it's dante so japanese like" "it's needs to be more realisticcc!!" <- yeah, because having devil triger, demons, angels and such DmC is very realistic.
This is the conclusion I came to,don't think people who like DmC are the smartest out there, but also don't stereotype those who like DMC or even both series(like me).

No, but I think they could have made an effort to improve said dialogue, don't you? Besides, I never said that cutscenes should be taken out of a game. I was implying that cutscenes should be improved if you want the player to watch them.

Hm. This could be considered a nice addendum for my sig.

Yes I agree,I personally found them to be good, putting aside the smart talking of Dante in front of demons....the scenes with him and Vergil, with Lady and Arkham were really good.
Now,NT Dante was also cocky when facing demons and had some bad dialogue, but putting this aside, the rest was also good.
You just can't take these out of the game...they're just additional stuff to make an entrance for bosses, and possibly new characters, but the action in both is good.

The rest of the quality within those cutscenes are up for debate. The only part I really liked were the action-packed moments -- the ones that had little to no talking in them, I mean.

My favorites were the ones with Vergil. Not because of the corny dialogue, but because the fight choreography was so well done.

"How about a kiss from your little brother? Or better yet, how about a kiss from this?"

And that's when I hit the "mute" button on my remote. :/

Who doesn't like the moments which have so much tension in them? Those were the ones I found entertaining after all.
Yes,the fight choreography was great. I really liked it,it was smooth and made me watch it in..awe.
That one made me laugh, maybe because I'm a girl, but who knows? xD It was silly in its own way.

I dunno... the best one for me was at the beginning. Sure the "repeat scene" at the end of mission 7 was also pretty good (especially with Vergil making bullet time cool again), but to me, the best scene was the one at the very beginning. It was the reason why I kept watching the DMC3 E3 trailer over and over again.
Then Dante had to go and open his mouth and ruin the game for me. :(

God, he even has the douchebag smirk on his face. Like he knows his one-liners are so awesome.

Well, it's been fun. I gotta go out for a bit. I'll see ya later.

Edit: The above image is now my new avatar. Ha.

DmC has the best voice performances in the series. All the voice actors did a pretty good job. As for the actual script, it's coherent and all but it is flooded with missed potential. They could have done more with a lot of things but maybe restraints kept them from adding more. According to the developer diaries of DmC there was even suppose to be a scene where we get a glimpse at Dante competing in some kind of underground fight club. Which would have been pretty awesome. I would have like to see some stuff like that at least.

DMC's scripts are just actually pretty bad ok. I can deal with things being intentionally cheesy and all I mean, I am a MASSIVE Evil Dead fan. It's just, DMC doesn't know how to do that well. The "jokes" usually fall flat and aren't funny and the more serious dramatic moments are just stupid (see: KYRIEEEE!!!!!)

The only thing I ever remember laughing at in DMC was "I should have been the one to fill your dark soul with light!" just because it was so ridiculous.

Looking back at the older games and the awful story telling and script, that's the stuff Ninja Theory "butchered"? Man, DmC isn't even my favorite Devil May Cry but for f#ck sakes the narrative in DmC was undeniably an improvement. There's a difference between saying it's bad to just it not being your cup of tea. That's the subjective stuff however, is DmC terribly written? Nah. It's alright.

I know right? Some of the dialogue choices are hit-and-miss. But damn, when they hit, they're pretty well done, actually.

See? This is what I've been saying! It can't even do cheese all that well.

Urgh. Just thinking about that scene...

Yeah, I don't see how NT "desecrated" their "beloved" series. The gameplay (and maybe some of the dialogue) I can understand, but on the whole, I'll take "F#ck you!" over the pansy "LIIIIIIIIGHT!" scene any day of the week.

Anyone else who prefers it the other way around really needs to take a good look at themselves, and ask whether they really hate DmC based on any valid merits, or whether they're really just asking for another glass of hatorade.

And notice how most people have stopped saying "It didn't even sell a million!"

Now, they're just saying, "Well... um.... herp  ... IT'S STILL THE WORST SELLING GAME IN THE SERIES." before they go and pout in a corner because they have one less leg to stand on.

That trailer was the thing that made me play DMC3 actually,so I agree with you. It was just...perfect. The narration was so good I wanted to play it so bad.

He reminds me of Johnny Bravo , idk, he's a cute douchebag for me.Even though he's not my favourite Dante,he's alright for beggining, remember,he was at the start where he was a lost and confused being. xD

Hahahaha! I actually love Johnny Bravo, 'cause the poor b@stard kept getting smacked down by the ladies. And since Mary kept shooting at Dante, I'll give him credit for being a "lovable loser."

That was the line in DMC that made me spill my tea over my console but it gave me a good laugh.
Now we take things a little bit too serious.

That "Kyrieee" moment . I actually understand that reaction from Nero since Kyrie was the only person he trully loved and a very good childhood friend. As someone else said on this forum, there are persons who react like this and even punch things when they're nervous, and Nero has some attitude problems when it comes to this.Just look at how angry is he when he fights Dante. That's a reaction I find normal coming from Nero. It may sounded a little bit too weird, but as for Nero it was normal.

You say it like the fans of DmC would go as far as to point out the flaws in DmC.Most, would just criticize the old games and that's it.Not that I would say the fans of DMC don't do the same, but DmC fans treat the game like it's some kind of a REAAALLY good game, which I find really PATHETIC.

So be quite honest,DMC3 had much more amusing and bearable dialogue,it was a little generic from time to time, but it was alright.

Oddly, I would, but I don't think the writing/dialogue in DmC is particularly bad like many complain it is. Context is a huge part of any narrative, and many people ignore any sort of context in DmC, from character motivations to even just the current situation, when they razz on it. People cite Dante's cuss fight with Poison as a "This is better writing than DMC?!" when the complaint's motivations is really little more than "My Dante wouldn't say this, so I don't like this." It's nothing to really do with the writing there, and all about personal preference :x

Classic DMC has cruddy writing pretty much because it's trying to hold true to its B-movie sensibilities. I'll razz on that till the cows come home because they also tried to be dramatic, and it just came off silly. Sure, there are a few great moments (by the series' standards) but the entire franchise is still populated with the B-movie silliness. But that's okay, because it's part of the series' charm, and regardless of how much of a dork Dante really is, he's a fun character.

DmC was just actually focused on telling a story, and rightly so, because Capcom noticed that narrative wasn't the series' strong point, so they wanted to actually make one with a better focus. I think they succeeded. It's not Last of Us quality (that game is being called our Citizen Kane), but it's certainly well above other games' quality.

since people mentioned vergil and nelo angelo, here's my favorite easter egg on subject related.

The angel armor enemies you fight in DMC4 are called "bianco angelo" or "white angel" (to vergil's "black angel"). The first time you encounter them, a variant of super ultra violet (nelo angelo's fight music) starts to play, and lasts until you finish all the armors. The in game bio on the bianco angelo armors are that agnus was able to construct them using fragments of a dark angel.

The angel armors are basically pieces of vergil's soul, torn apart and the pieces used as the catalyst to control countless lesser demons' souls inside of an armor doll. That's the kind of **** I wish they gave more attention to in game, instead of making people dig through the files and find out/guess on their own (it's one of DMC3 and 4's bigger flaws)

So would that mean Agnus found Vergil at the same time he found Yamato? I wonder if he found Vergil's physical body and extracted a soul from it, or he found only parts of Vergil, or found the only the soul using those hellgates...
They could have made Agnus and his research into a proper plot point, but instead they make Agnus into a creeper and gloss over his research and experiments.:P

You're right: this is the sort of thing they should have explained in the game. It would have made MDC4's plot so much better.
