Well, to be honest, I think you can.

Which makes Yahtzee's review's limits all the more evident, although admittedly not as despicable as if he was somehow graringly biased against DMC4.

I mean, being incompetent is enough of a sin already, if you're incompetent and biased...

How profound.

While I don't think this is completely true, that is the way things are for most people.

yeah i truly think so, that's how it is for most --or all of us with no exception--, wether its political, religious, movies, tv shows and gaming.. like LoD said, it's the bias part in us..

Nobody can be absolutely objective. BUT you can acknowledge positive sides of one or another side even if you don't agree with it. In this terms so far only decent video I saw was Khundy's simply from the point he acknowledged positive improvement of DE and negative sides of SE independent of his own preferences.

I'm so tired of the Devil May Cry snobs. If you actually watch the review, Yahtzee does give the combat a passing grade. It's just everything else about the game is lazy and lackluster. Which is true. Isn't that people's general opinion of DMC 4 in the first place. And he actually at least makes it entertaining to listen to. Unlike that other guy who for one has obvious animosity towards the latest game thus making his analysis very impartial, and who's just an absolute bore to hear.

Ooooh man. Ooooh man. You just gave me so much to comment on... you know I could go back searching some old posts of yours (even from before I joined here - yeah I read them - and some of which you were called out for by mods) and flip that argument right back in your face. Luckily for the forum though, exchanges between members like that have been punished ever since the new mods were chosen, so it would be very stupid for me to do it.

Instead, I'll just pretend you didn't write that phrase and facepalm it off my mind.

You're sitting there acting like people who aren't all star players have no right to discuss or comment on this series. That's the kind of snobs I'm talking about. The ones that dog on other people for their skill level. Get out of here with that BS. Those gamers in general I'm tired of.

Both of you please give it a rest. I don't know how many times I've stepped in and told you guys to stop bickering.

The material is there to be discussed. We're not here to argue at each other, or 'bring up the past'. So just drop it, please.

Bullshit. Don't play twist words with me, dude.

First of all, go back a page and read:

it's not necessary to be a pro - I'm average at best at DMC and I'm willing to bet I know a lot more about the game than Yahtzee does... actually, any of us in this very forum does

How does that imply that I think only "all star players" have the right to speak?

Second, by no means the points I've made in this thread are meant to apply to "players who want to discuss the series", as you put it. They're meant to apply to reviewers. I thought it was clear.

Don't try to make others look bad in order to backup your points. It's cheap.

People are trying to pass ZP's reviews as something serious? Actually Yahtzee's reviews are half comedic, half satirical and Im pretty sure I remember he ripped DmC a hole as well for changing its writing from 14 years old attempts to write to 9 years old and having combat that will satisfy anyone with free SSS grades left and right. Almost all of his reviews are exaggerated, he often bashes something for comedy and I don't think people should actually take satire so serious.

Why do people keep saying that? That's still his opinion on these games. Just because he is also comedic, that doesn't make his opinions about the stuff he reviews any less legit. He's a critic. He's there to point out the flaws in everything. Even stuff he recommends.

DmC and the classic Devil May Cry games carry the same name, but I roll my eyes every time I go to YouTube, see a thumbnail with reboot (or classic) Dante or Vergil on it, only for the actual video to have the other character. Like that video Capcom posted or RT or whatever which had reboot Vergil on it but it was actually about classic Vergil.

I really don't consider them the same characters. While I tend to care more about the reboot, I appreciate both Vergils, but not as if they're the same person. To me, they're not.

While DmC might not need defending (which, btw, is our choice -- we can defend it whether you like it or not) --

-- our love of the game (along with many other hated titles) itself will most likely always need to be defended against those who would prefer that no one enjoy it at due to their own overly biased, insidious, aggressive, and blatantly cruel behavior towards anyone who would dare speak out against such unspeakable persecution over one's taste.

Sure, everyone is biased -- but it's how people act in accordance with that bias (online bullying, physical threats of violence, abandoning your forum thereby leaving the fans out in the cold simply because you don't like one or two games in the series) that makes all the difference.

Everyone being biased doesn't give a person an excuse to act out of line simply because other people like something you don't.

It never has.

It never will.
