Dante and Raiden... DmC and MGR... Why choose?

There should be a limit or restraints for the cutting mechanic. I haven't played the demo myself but when i watch it on youtube, it looks like it doesn't have some limit or some sort. Something like that should not be able to use all the time or else it only become boring.

I personally favor Ninja Gaiden based gameplay when it comes to other hack n' slash games that are not DMC related. So whenever I do get a Wii U (which will probably be next year) I will probably get Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge since it did fairly decently.

It's better than Ninja Gaiden 3. Will you gonna get Kasumi? :)

Raiden VS DMC3/4 Dante? Yeah, Dante would most likely win.

Raiden VS DmC Donte? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
No

Trying to compare a cyberpunk anime character to an anime character turned into an American comic book antihero? Good luck with that.

TROLL.

Calling me a troll just because you don't agree with my opinion? That's cute.

I don't know what all the fuss is about.

Just to preface, I'm not typing any of this in a mean way, and I'm only going so far as looks, because I haven't played MGS at all.

Bearing in mind I din't know much about these games, the way I see it, this Raiden character is an attempt to reach a new audience.

By MGS4, Snake is looking pretty old, so I guess they have Raiden to appeal to a younger audience. He does looks like he's jumped out of an anime or visual kei group after all. So I'm assuming he's there to appeal to young Japanese guys or girls who like the pretty boy type character.

It's like it's done the reverse of DMC to DmC. First Solid Snake is like this old soldier guy, kinda realistic looking, now he's being substituted with a young pretty boy anime type. On the other hand DMC has gone from Japanese idea of Western cool, which resulted in anime-like characters, to DmC which is the Western idea of gritty and realistic.

The previous Dante was basically the epitome of anime cliche and had your typical anime visual flare of basically just sticking things on him to make him look cool. DmC Dante actually looks like a modern take on Dante and he looks like he can actually exist outside of the anime scene. Raiden is honestly a character hardly anyone gives a crap about because well for one when he showed up he wasn't particularly welcomed with open arms. Kojima pulls the biggest bait and switch in gaming history.

Raiden first appeared in MGS 2 and looked like a reject for a boy band that was too much of a try hard. He basically wanted to be Snake but he wasn't as interesting and was basically a little bitchy. Stupid things like running around naked at one point didn't help people be brought around either. When he showed up in MGS 4 he became the new Cyborg Ninja which every Metal Gear fan knows Gray Fox is the the true bearer of that title. Sure he maybe gotten what people may say be a little cooler but I was like lol nope. GTFO Raiden. Seeing you now as the new Cyborg Ninja is like a complete idiot claiming to be Batman. He wasn't worthy of that title.

The reason why Snake is old in MGS 4 was because Snake is a clone of Big Boss so he suffers from accelerated aging. It was all explained in the story but MGS is too complex and crazy to go into full detail with.Trust me, playing a Solid Snake or Big Boss is much more appreciated than playing as Raiden.

I don't think it's the guys appearance that will get people interested especially since it's part of a franchise with a pretty big fanbase but maybe that's what DMC fans seem to only care about. Hell, we already know how upset they were over a little change in haircolor. I couldn't care less about Dante's appearance because I don't think white hair and a red coat made DMC as a video game but hey, maybe I love DMC for all the wrong reasons :/

Thanks for the info, I thought this was Raiden's first game. If he wasn't liked much, why is he in another game? Also, why was he running around naked? Does he get his clothes stolen? :O

He gets captured and stripped off his clothes. There is a funny moment in this scene where one of guards sees Raidens schlong and gets jelous of how big it is.

Actually it's what made DMC, DMC. Reason being is because the original Dante is an ICON, alot of people don't seem to understand that. Dante from the original made DMC to what it is today and along with the reboot. I don't see this reboot ever being made without the concepts of the original thrown in, regardless if he looks more 'modern'. If so, look at albino people in our world, are you going to call them out because they have white hair and blue eyes and might where a red coat, I hope not. All the bashers, just need to get a grip and stop complaining about how this new Dante is better and whatnot. Leading back to the hair and coat is nothing more than just a easy way out of the conversation, I think. Raiden, you might think was a bad character but honestly kid, I would like to see YOU create a game and see where it goes, maybe the backlashing of your so called 'cool' character might change your overall mind on how you look at things.

Um, wow.....that is a weird thing to do to a captured person. Seriously, someone comments on him about that  Well, I guess that's one way for the game player to know Raiden has manliness.

Think I will pick up MGS4 and see what its like. So long as there's not too much backstory to catch up on. If I like that, I'd pick up this Raiden spinoff. :)

Raiden gets captured and they strip him for some reason. This causes him to run around naked and MGS was usually played from a top down like perspective. Why is his only attack some weird cart wheel like OH GOD NOOOOO! Raiden having his own game beats me but Hideo Kojima isn't much involved in the development of Rising at all. I thought it was funny how I heard him refer to it as "that other game" and I'm guessing Kojima has grown to not care much for Raiden anymore himself lol. The reason why also Raiden wasn't as well accepted because like I said, it was the biggest bait and switch in gaming history. Everyone was expecting to play as Snake once more and you only go through the prologue as him then Raiden for the rest of the game. He really just wasn't as cool or likable as Snake was. MGS 2 is considered one of the faults in the series but it's not because the gameplay was bad or anything it was just well....I think Hideo Kojima throws darts at a wall filled with post it notes of random ideas blind folded and whatever it landed on was in that game without a second thought.

You kind of have to play the previous Metal Gears to get the story in MGS 4 because it is a direct continuation of the story and also a conclusion. All the questions we have for the most part are answered. If you're looking to get into MGS and you have a PS3 you can pick up the original in the playstation store for a nice price of only $10. Believe me, it's 10 bucks well spent. There's also the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection which has MGS 2 and the game which is usually considered the best in the series MGS 3 Snake Eater. Also in that HD collection you can get the psp follow up to Snake Eater, Peacewalker and the original Metal Gear game for the NES. It's quite the package and I personally think it's worth it for Metal Gear Solid 3 alone because that game was so freaking awesome.

So Raiden is cartwheeling naked?! what the....:/ Well, as the saying goes 'only in Japan' can this happen. :P

Weren't the fans told they would be playing as a new character? Surely they were told.

Or it's like South Park when bankers took off a chicken's head and let the body run around on ideas to help the economy, then whatever idea it died on, they used it.

Kid? I'm 20 years old. Seriously I don't care about Dante's appearance because it's not like I thought he was the coolest looking character to begin with. Dante's personality is still virtually the same in DmC so what's the big deal? I actually like his new black coat better than the red one because I personally think it looks cooler. There's nothing wrong with Dante's appearance in the new game. He's got a clean cut with his hair and if it makes you feel any better Dante's hair will gradually turn white as the game goes on and I have no problem with them giving a reason behind Dante's hair color because white isn't natural. The reboot still pays alot of homages and tributes to the previous game so you saying it doesn't is just your ignorant bias hatred against it. I don't play DMC to gawk at Dante ok?

I am a true Metal Gear fan and Raiden is definitely not in the favorites list when we're talking about Metal Gear characters. Raiden is dumb. ALOT of people would agree with me on that. I don't think you understand Metal Gear like I do so that's why I'm pretending MGR doesn't even exist.

I actually have my own personally reboot of Devil May Cry I thought up which is in the form of a fanfiction I may or may not finish. I don't know, I'm quite busy at times. I don't think I'd be a bad game designer but I ultimately want my talents to lead me to creating cartoons. If I tried doing any type of game I'd probably pick survival horror.

I doubt the hair will go white, even in a sequel if it happens. His personality was shown more through action and funny one liners which most of us liked rather than vulgar. Oh and being natural, who decided games should be more modernized to look like the world is today? Actually it might have some pertaining aspects from the original but no, it doesnt have everything. Hatred is hatred, deal with it or walk away.

Well I might not jump to your level of interest pertaining to MGS, sure I don't care. I enjoyed the game for what the game is and that nothing changed about the characters. Everyone is still there, whether you have the cool characters or not.

I liked Raiden before Rising. In MGS2 he was the underdog in snakes shadow, and it was interesting. In MGS4 I thoroughly enjoyed watching him trying to become strong on the inside as his body got strong.

In Rising he's a straight up whiny edgy hypocrite who thinks he's better than the cyborgs he fights because he considers his blade to be a tool for justice when he's just as bad as the people he kills.
