Not sure what's with the whole arguing about Tameem's presentation on Dante and the Brokeback Mountain picture.

I mean, I'm a gay male myself and even I found that to be pretty insulting to the original Dante.
I never liked Ninja Theory or their games. Much less, their Donte and their reboot.

this is the context of that argument. The TL;DR of that big long post is I said a bunch of things, final demanded I post a source to each one of them. I posted a source to each one of them, and he flipped his lid and called me homophobic until a mod had to tell him to stop.

This was like 3 weeks ago, but the second I started posting again, he went right back to ****-posting the thread to oblivion calling me a gay basher until he was asked to stop for a second time. He's still that mad.

Is there a way I can change my name? I'd bet money he wouldn't know he was supposed to be arguing with me if he didn't know who the opinion belonged to, but as it stands right now I can almost guarantee there's going to be a third time as long as he can see me posting anywhere here

You guys should just all calm down.

I said it before and I'll say it again, people take things to seriously and are too ready to get offended.
It's no use trying to talk sense into people like them. Just accept the fact that they exist (because sometimes even natural selection overlooks a few individuals here and there), and hopefully someday, they'll see the error of their ways.

... though I wouldn't count on it.

Yeah, I saw quite a few posts from that guy on other threads and honestly, he acts like a complete bully and tries hard make one look stupid.

Whether it was the art department or not, that was completely unnecessary.

you seemed to manage it okay, you told him to stop and he (mostly) stopped. Not sure what you think natural selection has to do with any of this though. Did you mean social selection?

well, all that other stuff aside, what really gets under my skin is that according to him, me being offended by that makes me the homophobic one, and the reason he gave was some vague hypothetical based on not knowing dante's sexual orientation.

I mean, he could have asked me my orientation at any point over the last 3 weeks, but apparently it never seemed relevant to him. I still think he could have found a way to twist what I said around so that I would seem like I hated gay people. Maybe some convoluted "self-hate" kind of argument?

Yeah, I was reading his previous posts and I thought that was pretty immature of him. He kinda came off like a brat. I saw nothing "homphobic" in your posts.

Like I said on my previous post, I'm gay myself and even I found that whole thing with Dante offensive. I could care less if Dante was gay, straight or bi. That was unnecessary of NT.

And unfortunately, you'll always encounter those types of ignorant people in forums.

thanks for being understanding :p
I kind of regret taking that guy off of ignore. Normally when I ignore someone, it's just for a week or two, and by then everything's cooled down and it's safe to interact with them again. This guy just can't let it go though, it's almost a month later and he comes right back where he left off.

It's better to leave people like that in the ignore list. They're not worth arguing with again and again in an endless loop. In the end, they're the miserable ones for not letting anything go.

yeah, I'm going to take your advice and just throw him back on there. His friend too; they're so alike and constantly post one after the other, it's like there's two of him and that **** is just getting obnoxious.

so kam's example of deadpool being forced to become the punisher (or green lantern into batman) sums up why fans were against the change in the first place.

They saw the changes as a betrayal and them turning Dante into something he isnt.

But isn't that the point of a re-imagining?

Yeah, it was a re-imagining when it didn't need to be, but turning him into something he isn't in a reboot is to be expected.

Change is fine. But not when they're completely drastic and you have a developer insulting the main protag of the originals.

And from what I saw no one really asked for a reboot, more like for them to get their act together.
I guess, since at that point trying to make something reasonable out of the DMC plot would be like trying to untangle last years Christmas lights, Capcom wanted to both start fresh and attract younger (read: more likely to spend) audience, while still riding on the DMC fame.
And just when people started getting used to the idea, clumsy PR made things worse.

The reboot wasn't needed. I wholeheartedly agree. All they could've done was connect the dots but it looked like they wanted to continue the series with Nero and leave Dante behind. Why not make the next entry about Sparda's origins, then? But then again, it's Capcom we're talking about. They don't need the fanbase anymore.

I mean, have you seen Resident Evil? That series needed the reboot after how out of hand the plot became and no return of previous characters like Rebecca, Barry, Billy, or even Carlos for that matter.

Im not arguing whether or not they are right or wrong, im just trying to provide context for why they are angry.

Well the thing is with re-imagining/reboots/retcon etc an existing IP is that you still want people to see the IP as the IP and recognizable as the IP otherwise there is no point in using the name(ethically)
