Totally misread that as "head"...

 Caffeine hadn't hit the bloodstream yet? (Though if someone had killed my dog, my inner John Wick would probably go off the rails...)

+Two more. Just two more, and I don't have to worry about it until the next round--assuming she won't be put out with me over my comments in this round.

++Yeah, I'm with you, kid. I want pizza, too.

With the new game on the horizon the discussion of the other games in comparison has come up repeatedly. I've been playing DMC4SE and DmCDE, two games I've repeatedly mentioned I have very little tolerance for, but they are the latest in the series so they sort of will tell us where the series is going.

One of the things I've been very critical of for DMC4 is the style system. With Nero progression is very natural. You start with the most bare bones of mechanics, the jump, grab, and a few combos you get introduced to with an overly simplified tutorial, what you might call floaties, and as you move along they slowly give you more and more to work with, but with Dante they kick you straight into the deep end and unless you spent the last few years mastering the combat of DMC3 you are basically being forced to play the violin at a concert while you've been training with the flute and all I've heard over the years about this poor design oversight is git gud. That's just awful game design. Dante is too different from Nero to rely on the training you've had with him to use Dante effectively and if you're not a pro then you had to power through with Dante rather than learn to play as him.

With DMC3 you only had the one style so that was 1/5 of things you needed to worry about. In any game you're not just thrown into the frey with dozens of moves and mechanics and are expected to be good at it from the beginning. This got me thinking about how they could've made Dante's gameplay and how I would've done it differently, make it less overwhelming at the start and I what I think they should have done is to start the game like DMC3, limit the gameplay to a single style. After leveling up a little you give the player the ability to select any two, then 3, and so on.

A lot of people have told me that the game should've focused on Nero only instead of caving to the pressure of adding Dante but even if I agree with the sentiment I know that wouldn't have flyed over very well. I know because a lot of people would've refused to give a DMC game without Dante a second glance and I would've probably been one of the loudest advocates against it. The same situation is happening right here where the style system is basically Dante in this scenario, and if, at least, they'd be willing to let the whole thing start from scratch, to ease players into the overly complicated combat I might not be so adamant about getting rid of it because it's the metaphorical equivalent of asking someone who's learning to drive to remote pilot and land a space shuttle back to Earth without the benefit of a tutorial or guidance.

Doctor Who is the best superhero because he won his fights by boasting how badass he was.

That is my takeaway from the Moffat era outside of "wibbly wobbly timely wimely".

Are you sure that's not just what Moffat wants us to be thinking of himself? Because.... :cautious:

I want to disagree but I can think of dozens of examples where this is the case. My two favorite actors for the role, Capaldi and Tennant, did this multiple times, and they specially did this whenever the situation was unwinnable. It has become Dr. Who's Deus Ex Machina.

people said Moffat knows how to write only one kind of woman. To them that's why River, Missy, Tasha Lem all sound the same so maybe Moffat has an old flame just like them?

Interestingly enough, Tennant and Capaldi are my favorites too. You, sir, have good taste.

Does anybody feel like a particular month of the year just has it out for you? Like everytime you pass into that mouth, it just gains sentiance and turns around to pound you into the dirt? January is that month for me.

This is war, month of Janus

I keep thinking that that as much as I think some of these issues are all modern internet problems but then I read things like this and I am reminded that people are people and have always been people and as much as we like to think that it's the internet's fault the truth is it's our fault.
You're right on everything, except it's not your fault or anyone's. Right now people on the "internet" just don't have common sense. So, if they want to be a bunch of stupid idiots, then let them drown in their idiotcy. Right now that image is reflecting what people are on the internet.

I wish people would wake up and realize just how stupid they are by having that idiot hive mentality.

Tbh I'm curious how series 11 would have gone if Capaldi stuck around for another series. Granted would series 11 be the last one or would he say screw it, lets do 5 like Pertwee?

The Master two parter and the christmas special would be rewritten? If Bill and Nardole stick around would Yaz be the only new companion? Jodie Whitaker originally tried to be a villain before auditioning for 13 so what kind of villain would she be? New or Old?

Been pretty discouraged as far as fixing TMT is concerned. Though I'm coming to the realization that I don't necessarily need to outright remove the sub-plot so much as rewrite it in a way where it isn't as heavy-handed, nor focused on as much as it previously was. So basically a compromise, because the outright removal would have made for some pretty lackluster character relationships.

Welp, back to the beginning of the MS, then.

Beat Mr. Shifty last night. It was a really cool concept, it was like Hotline Miami but the character can teleport. My only problem was that I ran into a few pretty bad frame rate drops later in the game, which caused me to die several times.

Just rolled in from pub.

4 martinis and a vodka and coke - still wasn't enough to make the sight of my sister's timetables and planning charts go away. Who brings that crap to a pub??

Oh and anyone in the local area: who goes to the Stag's Leap any time soon: the picture of a sheep and chicken drawn in pencil with the initials "sp" on the bottom? Mine. You're welcome.

It could so easily have been a student nursing timetable.
