What theme are you thinking of?
And why do you not want to be obvious with a message saying "We made DmC Dante (NT)" ?

It just looks more natural for a coat like that to have a Union Jack on it, as many coats and jackets have flags on them. But a ninja is alot more specific and obvious. If you have studied symbolism, then you would know what I am talking about.

Seriously though, it's just a flag. I don't see the issue.

You did not answer my question. What theme were you thinking off?

Just answer the questions please.
No one can answer those question but employees of NT.
We already gave you the general idea of what we think about that flag.

Punk-rock theme and style, all already explained well and demonstrated in previous posts, do you read anything?

There are many other british game developers you know....Union jack is not the logo of NT.

I never got around to make my point. So i was not through with the question i asked and so on.

I can only answer for myself and for what I know, or make theories of how it may be. As Subject said, the only ones who can give you a 100% true answer to your questions is the team who works on the new Devil May Cry. Most probably the design team.

But why is it such a big deal to you that there's a flag on Dante's coat?

The flag on his jacket ****es me off just like how they labeled a rusty car DMC 5.
And i don´t see the use of a flag on his jacket. I didn´t even get the chance to make my point when i asked you to answer for yourself on a question.

My question was "Who do Ninja theory want to tell "We made DmC!" - everyone or a particular group?".

There is three options:
1) People who don´t now of Ninja theory
2) People who know of Ninja theory
3) Both group

Either option the flag comes out as useless.

I think it doesn't matter. Guys we're treating Ninja Theory like some alien company because they're working on a series we all enjoy. We are not to question the rights of some gaming company in Europe that just so happened to be working on Devil May Cry just because we don't like them. Hell, I think NT's past games were meh, but what does that matter???
This thread is only ging to start a flame war..as all of these opinion threads. Especially with one so, how can I say this, pointless? Because does it really matter if its a Union Jack or the Star Spangled-Banner or the Rising Sun? Or if it's a British company like NT or an American company like Bestheda or if they're Japanese like Capcom??? It does not matter.
We're gamers, aren't we? Not social workers or civil rights leaders. Whether a flag is in there or not is not for us to question or even care about. It's not going to judge the quality of the game.
Once again, I see that a lot of us let meager sentimentalism and opinions take our judgement instead of reasonable thinking and facts. I smile when I see people argue about the gameplay, but I swear when I see this forum argue about whether there should be a flag or whether the name should be DmC or DMC 5.
So I say I don't care to this subject about a flag. Someone call me when there is a thread about whether the gameplay looks fun or not because this is a game not our lives.

If you are going to be a grammar nazi;

Correction: There are three options.

You still didn't answer my question why you think it is such a big deal. You just said it ****es you off, you didn't tell why.
Ninja theory didn't create DMC. In DmC they have low role in Gameplay. When Gameplay of DmC became smoother in a video people credited Ninja theory.

There is little reasons for the flag to be there other than "Punk theme" of DmC. Since punk movement started in UK and DmC is inspired by punk movement.

Tameem Antoniades style looked very like DmC Dante after E3 was released. And i discuessed with others that DmC design ideas for Dante came from Tameem Antoniades primarily. Many people told me it could be just a coincedence. That Tameem say DmC Dante design and thought "Wow he looks cool i will change my hair too, and my cloth style".

And it wouldn't be so bad. But this guy named Tameem has said so much bad.
And then there is "DMC 5" rusty car. Rusty cars are general a message "This thing is broken". And rusty cars since they don't work well anymore are forgotten. So the i interpret the DMC 5 rusty car as "DMC 5 is dead, and is rusty. DmC is the future".

I don't think the british flag is there for a good reason. I believe it's there because Ninja theory's Tameem wants it to be there. Because he and the company are british.
Here is why i say there is no good reason:
1) Ninja theory fans already know DmC is being made by the company. That's why they are fans.
2) The logo stamped on cover of the game clearly shows Ninja theory has a role
3) "Ninja theory is making DMC" is all over gaming sites
4) Those who don't know of Ninja theory wouldn't know they are british company. So the union jack will not tell them the message "DmC and DmC Dante is Ninja theory's version of DMC. We made it!".
5) If the flag on DmC Dante is to pay a tribute to UK, and not to send the message "We (NT) made DmC", then how come they haven't paid tribute to UK in their other two games (Enslaved and Heavenly sword). It doesn't have to be a flag. It could be a sword, a famous cup, a item.

And i am warning you, don't **** me off. The reason why i asked z218 to rephrase his question is because i don't understand it fully because of his grammar mistake. That is why i asked him to rephrase his question. To understand his question better.
And it has nothing with you or what you and i are discussing. You assume i pointed out the grammar mistake because i am a jerk. But i am not. So stop with that.

I must admit that this thread isn't so useful. I made a bad decision when i created it.

CoolDemon you're overthinking things man. You really are. The rusted car? It's DmC! Everything's broken and mesed up! If not that, it's a coincidence at best. If people don't know Ninja Theory's British, well they can just look it up later on and find it out and that little reference to Great Britain will make sense!
You're always pegging Tameem as the big evil guy. There are HUNDREDS of guys in that company. ANYONE can be putting that flag there. Tameem just so happens to be the speaker!

Why is this even a problem? I really don't get it. NT and Capcom, as well as every game company, has the right to be creative and design the characters they want. Whether or not you like it is your opinion and your right, but questioning something as little as a flag is ridiculous. NT can create the character they want and have him/her look the way they want. It doesn't matter really matter want you think about it because it's not up to you. Get over it. (I'm using "you" to mean people in general, not any one person.)

I don't think i am overthinking the rusty car. It doesn't seem to be a coincedence that we see a rusty car with license plate DMC 5. And though i accept that whatever happens to DMC, i find that rusty car as a insult to DMC original series.

The flag: We're talking that it's purpose is to say "Ninja theory made DmC". So the purpose of the flag on his jacket sleeve is to make people receive that message ok? But how has that flag fullfilled it's purpose if people find out Ninja theory is british somewhere else and that's the point of the flag?

Again the purpose of the flag is SUPPOSEDLY to make people not aware of NT that they theory made DmC and that DmC Dante is their version. If a player notices flag and then goes to Wikipedia and finds out "Oh Ninja theory is british!" - then how has the flag on Dante's jacket helped? It's Wikipedia that helped.

I agree though that it could have been someone else that put the flag on Dante and not Tameem.

sorry, was in a rush when i wrote it.

how would you put the symbol of a ninja on new dante?

Could put something like this on his jacket.

Dude there is no PURPOSE. The flag is a flag. The Union Jack. Great Britain's flag. Ninja Theory's country's flag. It's called nationalistic pride! There is no ulterior motive. This isn't some blockbuster movie. This is just normal. Ninja Theory's only saying "We're British!" in a way less obvious than actually writing it out on the box or in the game.
This isn't some propaganda technique. It's a tribute. A reference. An easter egg, if you'd take it that way!
