Couldn't have said it better myself.
Really, to me, the flag issue is just a really retarded thing to point out. I mean, that's like saying that Kamiya- san was repping Japan when he named one of the most powerful weapons in the DMC universe "Yamato" but he wasn't.

At end of my first post i asked if they have taken a british standpoint. Noone has replied "Yes, they have".

Everyone comes into this thread and starts saying "Why do you find the flag a big issue?".

I wouldn't be surprised if people haven't read the post. Because the topic is open to discuss if they have taken a british standpoint or not as well.

Vergil overall has a very Japanese warlord look to him, so giving him a katana makes sense. It fits with his style and it balances out Dante's European two-hand sword.

I am discuessing that they have taken a british standpoint to DmC.
Don't know what your discussing now since you can't seem to understand.
Want to know why I don't understand? Because you changed the subject ALL OF A SUDDEN. Either way, there is no British standpoint here. Just a British flag that means barely anything and the fact they are in Britain. A pointless, pointless conversation this was.

But no one knows if they have taken a British standpoint. Only the Ninja Theory and Capcom team knows. So you are asking the wrong crowd. If you really want some answers then you should ask the team, not us.

You ignore what Tameem have said.
You think Punk movement is what's cool nowdays in the world.
And you ignore the overall theme of DmC.

Noone knows for sure. But people can be 99,9% sure that they have by agreeing to eachother's opnions.

I think I've answered that question thrice now: nope. No they haven't taken a British standpoint.
I think we should just leave the thread and lock it because this is going nowhere and it's all pointless speculation and sentimentalism. I want to see a thread that's worthwhile.

And you lost me again. I think the punk movement is cool. And it still is. So now I'm a criminal for it? I love punk rock. I'm not ignoring anything, YOU'RE JUST STUFFING WORDS DOWN MY MOUTH. And what is the THEME, CoolDemon. Enlighten me, please, oh wise and powerful sage! All's I see is dreamlike landscapes with an ironic blend of black and color.

My argumentations: They have taken a british standpoint.

Tameem saying 11 years old Dante is no longer cool. That's he is outdated. The influence used to create Dante is no longer cool. Therefor they need to make a Dante that's cool around 2011.
“But, you know, what was cool 12 years ago – I think that was when the first game came out [It actually came out nine years ago for PS2 - JC] – isn’t cool any more.“

If Dante, dressed as he was, walked into any bar outside of Tokyo, he’d get laughed out.“What Devil May Cry did when it launched was it brought everything that was great about action cinema like the fashion, music – it was like a cultural melting pot – and I feel like now, for Devil May Cry to have that same impact, it needs to draw on new things.

1:49 - 1:56 ("Make DMC cool related to when it was released")

Despite the talk about DMC Dante no longer being cool because he's 11 years old. And that things from 11 years ago is no longer cool. They take inspiration from Punk movement that was in 1970s.

DmC E3 Dante looking like Tameem
British flag
Punk movement inspired character and story

It's not a fact but my argument stands better than yours.

Your not a criminal. But i am asking why you think that Punk movement is something that's STILL cool despite it started in 1970s in most places (excluding UK)?
And there is more than one car on the road. There is many cars. Punk movement is one of many cars.

I'll just say, when Dante is the typical british stereotype, then will i start to worry.
Bad teeth, tea drinker, crumpet eater and the awful fake accent.

Ok so if I think a movement from the 70s is cool, that is the only subject I'll ever think is cool EVER, right? I think it's cool because it fascinates me. Why do you think DMC is cool even thought it started in 2001?? Why do we think gaming is STILL cool even though it started in the 80s? Your questions are ignorant and really just plain annoying.
Really, I want to lock this thread or report it or something but I can't or don't know how.

Well, count me as the first person to give you a proper response. The way I see it, they can't have a "british standpoint" because Britain doesn't have an overall opinion on what DMC is. We have things that we would want to see in DMC but its not like everyone in Britain is saying "Oy! Let's make this Dante fellow a bit less weird and a little more straight, eh? Maybe those fellows at Capcom can making 'im, uhhh... a little bit more.... oh what's the word? Punkish! Yeah, that's it! Give the youngsters something good, no?" Seriously, DMC is DMC and that's all it can be, there's no "standpoint" that Ninja Theory can use to change it. Otherwise, they are just forcing an opinion on everyone else who loves the game. And if that's the case, screw the "british standpoint!" Give me a "black person" standpoint! I would love to see a cool, badass black version of Dante!

Guys guys, please, calm down both of you. I don't like how this is turning into a flamewar, about who is right and who is wrong. So please stop being at eachothers throats, okay? :(

I don't know if the team have taken a British standpoint. What I do know is that the new Devil May Cry was supposed to be more westernised so it attracts more people in Europe and the US. Maybe that is why the team decided to go with the theme they did. I still don't think Dante looks punk, I think he looks pop and by pop I mean what is popular to many people in the Western region of the globe. The other Devil May Cry games were very Japanese and animé like, so it looks like Capcom took a Japanese standpoint back then. Vergil practically screams Japanese culture, both in style and attitude. And I think it's because that is what Capcom knows. Ninja Theory knows British culture, because they are British and all that, so maybe they really have taken a British standpoint. It would make sense.

I still don't think the flag is more than just a symbol of Ninja Theory being a British company though. And I still don't think Dante looks punk. He looks pop to me.

You fail to see the logic. Why is Tameem saying DMC Dante is old and outdated. That stuff that influenced DMC Dante 11 years ago when he was created is no longer cool. But he later says that Punk movement from 1970 inspired them. How politicans spent youths money, how punk movement rebelled. etc

And punk movement is 41 years old! Where as DMC Dante is 11 years old.
The story of DmC is "half demon and a group of punks fights against the controll of the "goverment" (demons)"

I don't know what's cool nowdays. You don't either. Ninja theory clearly don't either. If we are thinking of something that's cool in most countries. So it's subjective thinking of what's cool. And so they probably have a british standpoint on the game.

DMC Dante might not be cool anymore among youths. But who says Punk movement is? Who says Smoking is cool?

I'm not trying to prove anybody wrong, Zwei (fun name to pronounce xD). But how would you expect me to react to these questions this guy's asking me? Have you read the conversation??? Can't you see my anger?
I don't believe there is a British standpoint in this game because Ninja Theory is a gaming company. They need to appeal to a wide audience. If they're taking a "British standpoint" (which, by the way is not even what the thread was originally about), it is contradictory to what their goal is (aka: making money).

Than is Dante punk?
99,9% likely he is. His character was inspired by punks from 1970s. And the story of DmC is also influenced by it.
And i think Dante is working with a group of punks to kill the demons. Among them is the girl "Cat".

THEY think it's cool, CoolDemon. They think all of that is cool. An DMC Dante was influenced by Japanese folklore, which is about, I don't know, thousands of years old???
