I don't see why one little flag should matter.
I don't think they're paying tribute to the country, i think it's NT's personal mark. "We are an english/british developer, therefore we'll put something on it that represents us"
In fact, I've been meaning to post this:
I was playing Blood Omen 2 a few weeks ago when I found this in one of the chapters (chapter 4 i think)
If you notice the shield on the stained glass window, you will notice a red and white cross.
The red cross and white background is the english flag (just in case you don't know), does it have any influnce on where the games is based? Does it make Kain English/British? No.
If Dante is a Punk. It's more than likely to be a 'sewn on' patch.
I think that with this reboot, there are other things to worry about than a little flag.

Yeah the main thing anybody should be worrying about is Unreal engine
On Xbox360 we have plenty of quality titles that use this such as Gears of war that use unreal but Gears of war is a shooter ,a genre common in 30 fps
and I went back to DmC3 on my ps2 and it was running MT framework which is also used for Dead Rising 1 and Resident evil
But look at it this way DMC is an action hack and slash known best for fast pace combat , A 60 FPS with decent graphics only MT could deliver , and also look at it this way
All the DMC games except for 4 were not on xbox or xbox360 only playstation2 (mainly because in that gen of consoles ps2 was best ) but unreal engine is known to run good on what platform
XBOX360! (i have heard it runs horrible on ps3) so unless HD Collections sales are high on 360 most people will be playing a poorly made port on PS3 (except those who switched to xbox in the leap to next gen consoles) so yeah

And if Ninja theory wants to say what you suggest:
Why did they not do that with Enslaved or Heavenly sword. Why did they not pay tribute to their company or country like Blood omen 2 window example?
Just like the line DmC Dante says in E3 ("My name is..."), and the DMC 5 rusty car the flag is same kind of thing. Ninja theory seems to want to suck up success from a game they didn´t make successful. Already they have been credits tons for the gameplay despite Capcom is working with them in a INTENSE collaboration.

^ yes because every game company expects sales by the predecessors so they don't change a thing *rolls eyes* any time a new installment is made, companies add something, it's not the exact same thing because it would be boring. Saying that NT is trying to "suck up success from DMC" is pretty unfair, considering, as you yourself have admitted, CAPCOM WENT TO THEM! If anything, Capcom is trying to suck up success from NT and push blame on them if it fails.

While i might buy this my hopes for it are not high based on the quality of other ninja theory titles
even Main Event/Eventstatus said that the "work in progress gameplay" was basically them saying lower your expectations
and Alex and Tameem still think this is about Dante's hairw

I haven´t said a game should stay the same entirely. That is your words not mine.
Capcom went to Ninja theory with a offer. Ninja theory accepted and Tameem described the opportonity as a second chance in a interview.
Capcom didn´t ask for Ninja theory to save them from dying.

You have not replied to my first post. What you have done is reply to reply that i wrote to Tony_Redgrave. You´ve also lurked liking comments of someone discussing against.
You didn´t quote my first post or make a huge reply to it. I have never been under impression you and i were discussing anything major in this topic.
I am not trying to troll you. But since your so eager to predict, and tell about how i won´t listen and that this thread will only lead to argument i wanted to clarify things from my perspective.
Threads only leads to arguments when people make comments that are condescending or "This thread will get closed".

What an odd thread. I don't see the issue. I wear lots of stuff on my clothing. Flags, symbols, stuff like that. Just because I have a skull on my jacket doesn't mean I am a pirate. I just like skulls. That said, I like to make my own touch on my clothing, to kinda show that this is mine! And I don't mean writing my name in the collar, but to alter the clothing to fit my style. That way I have printed my "signature" on my clothing.
I think it's the same with Ninja Theory and their new Dante. By stamping a Union Jack on his coat they've kinda said "This is our Dante". They got their name on the cover, sure, but now they are represented in the game as well! And because it is an alternate version of another character, they make a point this way to show that this Dante is their creation.
So I voted yes. ^^

I don´t like it because honestly i don´t see the point of it. People who know of Ninja theory or DMC would know by now easily that it´s Ninja theorys version.
And for people who are unaware of Ninja theory involvement in the project i don´t think a british flag will make them think "Oh it´s Ninja theory who´s made this Dante".
And how do people know Ninja theory created Enslaved/Heavenly sword?
Because it says so on the box! Well DUH! XD
But Dante is already a known character made by Capcom, so this way Ninja Theory kinda sets their mark on their version of Dante. I think it makes sense. It's subtle and looks natural as many jackets and other clothing have random flags on them just to look cool. It would look stupid if Dante's coat had the words NINJA THEORY on the back, because it is too obvious!
The Union Jack is subtle and nice without being too obvious or too interfering with the whole game setting.
You don't have too like it though. But so what? It's just a flag. Why does it bother you so? I mean, if a little flag on his coat makes you feel like this, then I can't imagine your reaction when you found out about how they turned his hair black. It must have been a cataclysmic effect which tore your world asunder. XD

That they just want to put a stamp on the new Dante to show that he is their version of him and they chose the Union Jack to show it, because it's subtle and really shouldn't make all this commotion you're trying to turn it into with this thread.
