Silent Hill 2

Going to wait until my friends play it and it goes on dale before i decide about buying

Still not seen anything that justifies it's price at launch

Still a pass for me until it gets a price cut, it is not like resi 4 or dead space remale which felt like they justified their price point a lot more.

Will probably get it on sale next year.

That's fair, I suppose. I pre-ordered it for the 8th. And I too feel like remakes are overdone.

Even in the 2000s, a lot of horror movies were remakes. Too many to list. But it also helps, I guess, to promote the originals. Because people born in say 1995 wouldn't probably feel the urge to typically seek out a film from the 1950s to watch. LOL.

But yeah. It is a bit of a stinger how a PS5 is so expensive, the new pro version or otherwise, and they're remaking games that we played decades ago. Then when new IPs sometimes arrive, they get called movie games. So isn't any game today with a plot like a film or series? So in other words, people will like and hate things like crazy to just tip the scale.

The first reviews are in. Most of these are rather positive.

Oh, and some lucky people already own the game.

Watch playthroughs at your own risk.

The voice acting is wooden, but the game is generally eerie. Truly amazing graphics.

I'm in the aparrment complex where James sees Laura and Red Pyramid Thing. Not bumped into Eddie yet. I reckon it won't be too long before I find him chucking up in the loo. :D

The aiming for firearms sucks, but I think that's on purpose. The original game was the same.

I'm still in the apartments. I need to find a door near the stairs. I seen it many times this morning when I was trying to find the room with the safe, which I had to get into by pushing aside a cupboard. Once I acquired the key, I then suddenly spent ages trying to relocate where the door was, before realizing I needed a break from the monotony.

I am surprised they did not improve the aiming to be honest, and just have a classic mode for players who want it to play like the original.

The idea is that you play as an "everyman", meaning there are no Chris Redfield types.

Personally, I think the combat has always sucked in SH games. The camera doesn't help either. Many times in the first game, those flying things would swoop down and you barely have time to react since you cannot see them until the last second. Whenever you enter a new room, sometimes the camera is in front of you, which I hate too.

One thing SH gets better than RE though is the atmosphere. Ain't nothing like it, except for The Evil Within. Still gets to me about Tango Gameworks folding, as they helped to fill a void when Konami was in pachinko mode.

Most of the evil within devs are gone from tango now, aswell as the creator. Luckily the i.p was retained by microsoft though so they can make a new one or reboot it with an outsourced or internal studio.
