There is something in his hand. Perhaps baby Nero?
That's what most people seem to believe. I still don't know what to think, I'm not entirely convinced.

If he really is holding something, and it ain't baby Nero, then that just leaves his collection of porn magazines. XDThat's what most people seem to believe. I still don't know what to think, I'm not entirely convinced.
I see nothing but respect for Vergil in this thread.
And his right eye is still covered up in DT mode for some reason. He might not be half-blind, but I still see a scar or a mark of some kind leading from his eye to the left side of his face (under his left eye).
There are no marks of that type on Dante's DT face, making me wonder why they even designed Vergil that way to begin with (unless it was somehow significant).
Why is Nero's eye covered up? Stylistic choice? That would interfere with his swordfighting skills. I'm going to continue to believe that this is Vergil until I see his actual DT form for myself. But that's not Vergil, it's Nero's DT. Which presents some strong similarities with Vergil's demon form, but it's not Vergil itself.
@scionicspectre: Sorry but to yourself and others who keep saying "Don't get too hyped up or overthink things" etc I disagree. This is new information for the DMC fans. DmC had had a lot of coverage. It's understandable and acceptable for people to want to speculate theories. It's how these forums are going to gain new posts, new members, new threads. Yes it might all be similar stuff being thrown around, that's to be expected. But who would honestly sit and browse through everything that has been discussed before chipping in with their view.
Please don't discredit others simply wishing to express their hopes, views, expectations.
It's on the bottom of mine, as well. They could leave Nero out entirely for all I care. All I want is a good Vergil campaign.Personally, if they ignore or disprove the Nero baby theory and focus entirely on Vergil, I won't mind one bit so long as what we get is a good game. "Resolving the Nero kerfuffle" is on the very bottom of my desired feature list for this Special Edition.
Yeah, I guess it's not quite as bad as I've made it out to be. I suppose I just had higher expectations of this community for some reason. I'm fully satisfied with letting it go and allowing the game to speak for itself, but I felt I had to voice the other side of the conversation since this thread has been overwhelmingly one-dimensional. I was getting a bit rude about it, though, which was clearly unnecessary.
I just hope people are ready to get their hearts broken if they have so much invested in these theories. I think it's only fair to Capcom to have reasonable expectations so that, when they release a great update, we aren't all sitting here ragging on it because we wanted something else. But again, you're right, people should have their fun and I have no right to tell them off for it when speculation is such a core theme driving this community. I just hope that, in having our ideas challenged, we can come up with more reasonable and satisfying ideas.
I feel like I just have to clear a few things up, since so many people are intent on losing their minds. If this were anyone but Vergil, there would be no question that he's simply holding the cloak closed in a comfortable position. The apparent need for this to be a prequel scene has convinced people that 1. He's holding Nero 2. The city street is the same one leading to the church, and the reason for the obvious differences is that it's many years earlier, and 3. Perhaps the poster is proof that Nevan's the mother?
Seriously, does anyone realize how crazy all of this sounds, and how farfetched it is even compared to the madness that is the existing Devil May Cry lore? It's not even amusing, anymore, it's just wasteful. The worst part is that it seems people came into this thread without reading any of it and half of the new posts are simply restating the old posts.
Mark my words- this trailer is just Vergil walking down the street with a cloak because that's a traditional anime trope for a mysterious character's return. There are no babies, no lost arms, no lost eyes. Vergil will return much like we've seen him in the past, and the events likely happen near the main DMC 4 campaign.
Who here thinks Vergil has his middle fingers up under the cloak and when he finally finds Dante in Fortuna he'll throw his hands out from under the cloak, stick his fingers up at Dante and say "**** you. That's for leaving me out of vanilla DMC 4".

Lol, I dunno, LoD...that doesn't seem very in-character for Vergil. Dante, maybe, but not Verg.
i think dante will say "are you crying?""**** you. That's for leaving me out of vanilla DMC 4".
