Well that about seals it then. There is no DMC5 in development at this current time. If there was Reuben would know about it and I don't believe for one second that he's binding it from us or something. I'm just so disappointed in Capcom...sure they tried to reboot it but after DMC4:SE there was hope for more DMC but given how HnS is such a small genre now and Reuben's comments here we can only assume Itsuno's new game isn't DMC related.

Dante's been recast and Reuben isn't the one playing him.

I don't think they'd have the balls to actually do that considering DMC5 would have the difficult role of regaining people's trust and what better way than to suck up to their nostalgic part. Dante recast would be more likely option, although even then I can already see the threads full of rage and whining of people claiming Reuben = Dante, much like anytime a long-running series gets a change of actor for the main hero.

I think you people are being overly pessimistic. This says nothing on the status of the franchise. You're taking his statements as proof of too much. There is always the possibility that he's simply being evasive or lying. If Langdon is working on a DMC title he could be keeping it under wraps by acting like he isn't. Saying 'I can't say' gives too much away so let's not confirm in any manner. Deny, deny, deny.
The only solid thing I got out of this was confirmation that we should not be bothering the actors, we should be going after Capcom. We should probably get them actors to gather up all the fan stuff asking for DMC5 and have them take it to Capcom, just so that they know.

If it's absolutely necessary to recast classic Dante, bring Tim Phillipps back. the poor guy has been screwed over enough in terms of only voicing (a version) of Dante once.

Talk about winning the fans over. That would cause another outrage and surround the game with a negative aura from the start. In the mind of many, Tim Phillips is still the obnoxious punk who flipped them off in the DmC credits.
But anyway, I don't think they'd be recasting Dante. Capcom's still using Reuben for MVCI for example, right? I think the scenario berto described is more likely. Just think about it for a sec, if DMC5 really is in development, do you really expect him to say yes or "I can't talk about it"? Obviously he can't say yes and the second option would pretty much be a confirmation.
My advice is just don't think too much about it and simply wait. If Itsuno's project is DMC, hallelujah. If it ain't, be mentally prepared for it and amen. Putting too much thought into it is just gonna stress y'all.

Honestly capcom seems to be at the end of their breath. They fell so low as to milk recently released games, like RE7 by literally repackaging them in the same year. That aside, I don't even remember anything new from capcom this year, aside from RE7 (which seemed pretty low budget) and MvC: Infinite (which seems more of marvel cheap promotion for MCU than actually decent game). Perhaps its time to put a plug on their franchises and sell it to somebody who cares.

Eh, who cares about winning over people like SolitaryLapTopLoveIV? at this point, if I was a Capcom employee working on a DMC game. I'd intentionally continue ****ing off arrogant spoiled man-children like him, and if it means people like him eventually stop following the DMC franchise due to this. let's just say the fandom would be all the better for it.
And I'm sure WolfOD would agree with me in regards to it.

They are a business, they need loyal people to make money off, and were not talking just about few rabid ones, after pretty good commercial success of DMC4, sales dipped really low with DmC, showing what bad PR can do to you. Now Capcom may be one of those companies that seems allergic to money, but even their PR service knows not to bite the hand that feeds you. Sucks, but that's life.

Mr. Tameem adopted the same equally childish, and unprofessional behavior when promoting DmC, and look where that got him.
You're reasoning with the mindset of a fan, but you gotta put yourself in Capcom's shoes. You wanna recapture the people you lost in order for the game to do well, and make the franchise healthy again. Because the franchise being healthy is a good thing for both Capcom and us fans too now isn't it. If you work to keep this chain of pettiness going, there will be nothing but a struggling IP and an unhappy, frustrated fan base, which I'm under the impression is something you don't want. Then why seek it.

I don't think I'd read Tim Phillips flipping off the camera the same thing as flipping off fans. Especially with the way he just skateboards off. It looked more like some extra footage of him goofing off that they decided to end the credits with.
To me, that's the same level of over-analyzation that made many fans think that the "5" on the shirt of that one fat guy drinking Virility that Dante and Kat walk past was a strategic, subtle backhand to the fans to represent NT's contempt for anyone who wants a DMC5.
There's underlying messages, and then there's literal X-Files conspiracy fondling. I'd classify these two in the latter.
....eghhh, I don't mean to be a wet sandwich, but you do know that the reboot was entirely because of Capcom's reluctance to greenlight a DMC sequel due to 4 failing to be the financial success they wanted, right?
Not to say DMC4 was technically a failure from a layman's perspective, but considering how many times Kobayashi reportedly cranked the budget higher to accommodate for more of the high-production mo-cap cutscenes (which is likely was only half the game's assets were ever made, leading to its infamous rehashing), it's likely that Capcom didn't view the past DMC titles as a landmark success. (Although the DMC4: SE certainly boosted sales to a level Capcom seems satisfied with). I won't deny that bad PR and terrible marketing destroyed what little hope DmC had worldwide, though. That goes completely without saying. The best thing, theoretically, would be to market a return to form as much as possible...and given how aggressively-attached people are to Reuben as Dante's voice (and honestly, who can blame them), keeping him around would be the smartest move.
One other thing to mention is that sometimes a conflict of schedule or a Union Strike prevents a voice actor from being recruited or from lending their voice to a project, making it so that companies don't even contact them and secretly replace them.
Ask the Resident Evil fans...they know exactly what this looks like.
^Pretty much this. There are people who can replace Reuben (Robert McCollum showed he could mimic most of his vocal traits in Sengoku Basara, for instance), and at this point I'd just like them to continue the story and answer that infuriating cluster of questions they kicked over like a bee's nest in DMC4.

I'm not saying that's the case (though in all honesty, it wouldn't surprise me either, if it was), and frankly I don't care much about it, but the point wasn't that as much as the fact that Tim Phillips, to the vast majority of the fans is like the embodiment of the most hated and unwanted Dante in the franchise's history, so him coming to DMC wouldn't be seen kindly and would already start off the game reception with the wrong foot.
Fans always tend to associate actors with the characters they portray, it's inevitable and the performers have to deal with it all the time. It's a blessing for some, and a curse for others.
