General DMC 5 Discussion

So I saw this post somewhere else

Trailer 1: E3 Announcement Trailer

Trailer 2: Nero Gameplay Gamescon Trailer + Dante gameplay tease

Trailer 3: Dante TGS Trailer + V tease

Trailer 4: TGA Main Trailer

Trailer 5: V Trailer

Well whoever is the marketing head for DMC5 deserves a cookie.

Also I know I posted this earlier but if you slow this down from the start you can see Nightmare and V literally warp into the area.

In this one you can see Nightmare warping about in the background. I used to think maybe the game/video was glitching or something but I guess Nightmare can warp about since its rather slow moving.

I was looking through some of my design projects from 2008 when I was studying animation and I found an old assignments. The idea was to create a design with our choice of a single number spelled out, a specific number of geometric shapes and one unique shape of our choice. Well, as luck would have it, the shape I made has a striking resemblance to the wings in the DMC5 logo. Obviously not identical but close enough to be a bit eerie. I took that class almost 11 years ago. Weird how things work out. I'll take a picture later. I have to pull it out of the box again.

Edit:
Found it. Just remember, I made this over 10 years ago, around 2008 or 9. It's kinda funny how it all turned out.

The assignment was to make an image using 4 squares, 5 circles, a shape of our own design, spell out out a number of our choice in an existing font, I think, and I don't remember if the border was mandatory but there it is.
That's creepy. It's as if the designers was looking over your work or something.

Jesus! Talk about a pun!
If there is anything I hate about DMC3 is half of the enemy roster. You can't do that many combos on them (in a game that encourages combo variety) and they're tedious and boring to fight. I'll gladly take the Sin Scissors over the Fallen or Faust demons any day.
They're not meant to be combo mashers, they're meant to teach you how to use your moves.

Best looking Bloody Palace so far.

I wonder if those red orb Empusa will fight back now instead of just run away.

Also that "Commander/Giant Empusa" is YUUUUGGGEEE.

Also in the demo Nero says "What are demons doing in a place like this? There is something to this place."
One would say maybe it could be the Qliphoth but Nero is aware its there and can see it even before this dialogue. It seems Nero is questioning of all locations why this city for the tree to appear. It seems the game might be setting up this city as significant to the plot rather than just where the plot takes place. Its also interesting this city is named Redgrave City and more importantly its clearly a British/London styled city.

I have an interesting theory that Redgrave City might be Dante's and Vergil birth city.

Reasons being are that Kamiya once described Dante as being British (despite lacking an accent) and we don't know Dante's exact place of birth (but assume he currently lives in America although there is a scene with Morrison facing the tree so maybe Dante still lives in England) and we can assume he moved after the demon attack that killed his mother. Also the fact they got a British model to portray Dante. Could be the fact he was the best look for the role although they got an Italian to portray Nero and a biracial person to portray Nico. Very specific choices for those characters as well.

Not only that but Trish describes this as "Dante's war" and V said this enemy (most likely meaning Urizen) is the reason Dante fights. Meaning the current big bad must have some beef/connection with Dante and may have chosen this location for some special reason (either to mock Dante or its also pretty important to him too). I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled the "this is the anniversary of his mother's death" type of deal (I mean there is a picture of his mom in one frame during the TGA trailer and the last time we saw a picture of Eva was in DMC1). You know have Dante's story come full circle.

Also a cool and chilling detail is that in the first part of the demo with the human husks you can see the roots of the tree under each human after they fall apart. Essentially these are the actual husks of the people as they were being attacked and drained by the demon tree roots upon their moments of death.

@Stylish Nero
I think Kamiya said he has the wit of a British man but @berto might know more.
He put all the feelings of a hero in to Dante. When he asked the character designer to make visualized image of Dante, he gave three focus points for designer. "I gave "Stylishly run with long coat", "British guy" and "Doesn't smoke cigarette". Long coat is I just wanted to put something showy on character. British guy is I wanted for Dante to be not only a fighting man, witty and traditional fighting man. About cigarette, this is simple, I just thought man without cigarette is cool.
Oh wait, Berto beat me to it.

Well I guess my theory doesnt sound so far fetch now ehhhhhh...

Also then there is this.

Devil May Cry 5

Platform: Windows PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One
Rating Category:
Content Descriptors: Blood, Partial Nudity, Strong Language, Violence
Other: In-Game Purchases (PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One)
Rating Summary: This is an action game in which players follow the story of three heroes (Dante, Nero, V) in their quest to save the world from demons. From a third-person perspective, players use swords, guns, and special attacks (e.g., a prosthetic hand with electric bursts) to kill hordes of demons in frenetic combat. Battles are highlighted by gunfire, screams of pain, and slow-motion finishing moves/highlights. One cutscene depicts civilians screaming in pain while being impaled by demon tentacles. Blood appears frequently during combat and stains several environments. Some female characters are depicted partially nude, with their breasts and buttocks minimally covered by blood, light, or clothing. The words “f**k” and “sh*t” appear in the dialogue.

We seen Trish be freed from Cavaliere naked but not covered in blood. I wonder who is naked but covered in blood....hmmmmmmmm

Did not know her name was pronounced "loo-sha". Huh.

I've heard many pronunciations. I guess the game never actually referred to her name in dialogue or maybe they did. Maybe that is how Matt pronounces it or perhaps that is how DMC5 will pronounce. However this isn't the case like Cerberus where the original Greek's did pronounce it as Kerberos but its later changed to Cerberus so until otherwise I'm still pronouncing it as Loo-see-ah. Loo-sha is probably the Latin pronunciation while Loo-see-ah is the Latin American/Spanish pronunciation. Matt can bugger off with his "ehh accurate pronounciation".

Since Lucia and the setting of DMC2 is rocking some French/South Caribbean motif it sounds more appropriate.
Plus the name of the island is Vie de Marli is a French name. Matier isn't strictly French but the way Lucia says it is definitely French.

WHY does this game need this offensive disgusting nonsense corrupting the dialogue?
Cant we have quality dialogue anymore?

This is nothing new, Dante swore in DMC3 (damn and hell) and the anime (at least 1 f-word with standard swearing). Nero pulled off a couple f-bombs or sh#ts when performing buster moves. Now at its worse was DmC. The cursing was edgy, try hard, bullcrap. Heck, this style of genre got more swear words ever since MadWorld, No More Heroes, and Bayonetta came out. The difference being, they know when to use such words when appropriate or funny, and DMC5's swearing won't even be that bad. Most of the swear words will probably come from Nero anyway.

Other action games that have used swearing are Onechanbara Z2: Chaos, Lollipop Chainsaw, Anarchy Reigns, Nier: Automata, Splatterhouse, Vanquish, and God of War 4 (mainly f-bombs from the dwarf, Brock).
