I dunno man. Theoretically Grim Trick could just be a different way to teleport that has an application in traversal. Given how it worked in DmC, having a sword embedded in an enemy just meant that it could act as a tag, or marker, that made it simple enough to teleport to. Technically, if it works that way, you could theoretically use Air Trick to teleport to a locked target, and Grim Trick to a tagged enemy.

@TWOxACROSS ya see that's what i was getting at because With DmC there was a lot of stuff that was just to awkward to input one of them was the stinger with they did fix but just stuff like that with the Double Forward inputs for moves that use to be hold down the button to perform. you are right for someone new they might not think much of it but it's just odd because i think the Control's of the past games where Very easy to pick up and play with DmC i just felt like i was doing Gymnastics with my fingers and with this Grim trick thing i am a little Concerned that they are trying to pull the same stuff. i watched Vash's video about this and i am hoping this is only Necessary for Pulling off Certain Moves. if you remember Nero can hold an enemy in place with the Devil bringer over his head yet he can still do normal sword attacks freely.

It could also simply be that Vergil has a variant on the summoned sword that remains latent in the enemy like a Lucifer pin before exploding (or something similar). If I recall correctly, Nero's summoned swords got stuck in enemies temporarily as well.

Nero's from what i remember only worked when he was in DT and could make sort work of Mephisto's cloak but you really did not have much control over them just hit DT and use the blue rose and they would just come out on there own.

Wow I've been gone too long. So from what I've seen of the trailer, Trish and Lady actually get to do something, Vergil's in the game, and a lot of stuff is being added.

Well at least Capcom's putting effort into making DMC4 worth the money that I wasted on the boring vanilla version so that's assuring.

just thought i would leave this here for anyone hoping that Vergil still might have a story mode and Greg also made some remarks about the physical release and how from what he knew the JP version will have Both English and japanese Dialogue and that bringing it over was not on the table with i feel is a load of Bull since well if they have it in JP just as good as any game over here then why not ? just really odd

@TWOxACROSS Trust me i have faith other wise i would not be importing it this is also my Second most anticipated game of this year but that dose not mean i'm not going to be critical. i am also Concerned about the success of this Since's it's coming out Right on the heels of Batman with is a huge game..i just don't want it to be overshadowed as well

Of course it will be overshadowed. Devil May Cry isn't the most beloved game series in the world. And comparing it to Batman coming out soon would be no contest for Batman. What I hope is that it sells well enough to ensure that more Devil May Cry comes out. It seems DmC: DE is doing well on the market so if DMC4: SE does just as well or even better then chances are we'll see more Devil May Cry in the future.

You and me both

@DragonMaster2010 i just feel like it's Very Dumb on Capcom's part to put it so close to a game that massive and i would not fault them at all if they pushed it back or maybe push it up much sooner like they did with DmC i checked VG charts and have not seen anything regarding how it's doing sales wise. i am also picking up batman but i already know what that is in term's of gameplay it's going to be the same just now the car thing is in there but with DMC4 getting all this new stuff 7 years later there are just so many possibilities that i am much more excited for. by not having a Disc out there in the market that's really going to hurt this game. on a side note something i just found is that NT did not really work on DmC DE it was some partner of NT by the name of Q-Loc is anyone eles aware of that ? maybe that has something to do with them getting A Disc instead of DMC4:SE.

Well, try to remember that games like Devil May Cry and Bayonetta don't have incredible out-of-the-gate support. It doesn't really matter that it's going up Batman - people will flock to what's familiar and easier to consume. DMC is very niche, very complicated, and it's goodness spreads because of word-of-mouth and all the cool videos people make. Capcom-Unity, GregaMan specifically, is doing God's work by spreading word about the game in the way that fits it best - showing all these different combo videos.

It sucks that we won't be getting a physical version of DMC4se, but that's just business, unfortunately. But no, Q-Loc didn't really have anything to do with DmC-DE- getting a disc. Distribution is a publisher's (Capcom's) decision.

vergil seems fun to play, and if they implement DmC's vergil to him, i can't wait to see the difference, one noticeable difference already is that his attacks seem to have more power, something i didn't catch from DmC vergil, he was fast and swift alright, but his attacks don't have that power, and the slashes audio effects don't help..

and i sure hope he will have the grab and pull ability, i want faster way to get close to enemies

Well, now that I know that there's English and Japanese VA in the physical version, I'm just going to import it.

Also, I just knew that there would be just as much of a new story for Vergil in DMC4: SE as there was in DMC3---an intro, and an ending. Nothing more.

And if Greg's comment on the game's emphasis being on "action experiences, and not narrative revelations", I think it's safe to assume that there haven't been any real changes to the rest of the story, either. Guess we gotta wait till DMC5 for some real answers.

That's what I expected too. Anyway, it's already more than DMC3 SE, when he got two opening scenes and no ending.
At least here he's getting a proper opening and ending sequence.

@absolitude i would have to agree somewhat A lot of the animations and sound effects where lacking and sense of real impact or power. i could not stand what was Done with ebony and ivory because in DMC 1 3 and 4 just the sound and animation gave them such weight and feel that just made you feel so powerful with i really missed.

going back to what you said about getting to foes much faster well that's what the teleport was for so Nero's grab and pull stuff would not be necessary with Vergil. if you are really good with using it in DMC3 you can phase right through an attack and if you need to clear space pretty fast the yamato has a move like stinger.

i am just
interested in how grim trick is going to work in combat. because when locked on in DMC3 all you had to do was teleport and where every the Demon was bam you where right there in there face.

i am really freaking happy to see beowulf back with lunar phase favorite move in all of DMC.

@WolfOD64

That's what i'm doing i hope with DMC5 though we get something more like DMC1 OR DMC3 in atmosphere after the reboot and all the Over the top stuff i would like it to be a bit more grounded like DMC1. what i mean by grounded is A Dante like we see in DMC4 but just a bit more mature still makes jokes but is more focused with regards to story i would like them to just focus on giving us a Solid DMC game like 3. i really hope we get a villain that can really push Dante though. i would like some answers to that stuff but not right after the past 7 years of all the back and forth with Vergil being Nero's dad and then the reboot and stuff i just kinda want a really good game going back to the castlevania like set up just to bring it back to it's roots then they can branch out again after that.

Vergil might have some more cutscenes remember Vergil Is Repeating some of Dante's lines from the main game.

Honestly I felt the guns sounded very comically weak in DMC4. They didn't sound nor feel very powerful and felt more like recycled machine gun noises, but that's me. But I do agree that DmC Vergil's slashes sounded watery and weak.

I agree with this. I think the fact that Ebony and Ivory was slower maybe caused it, Coyote-A was pretty good but I prefer DmC's shotgun sound over it and Pandora was pretty okay not amazing though. I definitely agree about Vergil's slashes. Slash Dimension was pretty disappointing.
