I'm sorry if I offended you, but DmC is in fact inferior to the old DMC series in many respects. It's not my problem if some fail to see that. And oh, yes, because an IGN video is the absolute truth... don't make me laugh. Don't you have your own opinion instead of having to rely upon that of others?
Dude don't be so damn arrogant... of course I have my own opinion the sites that favour the game just compliment my opinion. Also people should not be afraid of posting if they can accept other opinions and have a VALID argument to give. The old DMCs were great but were wearing thin on creativity and the combat for the new game looks just as FUN. I do not care if the previous games were SLIGHTLY faster I just want to play it so I can enjoy it. Can't you have a less generic point of view for a skeptic as Dante is a douche is so overused... and yet you blamed me for getting an opinion from elsewhere - you seem to be just following the masses.

1) Honestly that just sounds like spite, you come across as very biased. As if this game can do nothing to please you. I have been keeping up with all the trailers, game art and gameplay. They all look top notch to me, and I wasn't sold on the game when I first heard about it. Eryx looks like his arms are made of molten rock, which is pretty badass in my book.

2) Where is the development for Nero? All he does is cry and whine about wanting to save some girl. More than two emotions? Lets see....there is really angry and really sad. That's all I can recall.

3) How is that voice acting terrible? I would argue it's the best in the series. Especially when you compare it to garbage like, "I should have been the one to fill your dark soul with LIIIIIGGGGGHHHHHT!!!!!!" and "My soul is saying that it wants to STOPYOU!!!" lol. So in you hate his style/clothing? You didn't seem to mind the trench coat and boots reused in 4 games.

4) Once again you are just hating on something because it isn't what you are used to. You just want to be spoon fed the same concept over and over. That's fine for you, but I like to change things up from time to time. Being narrow minded gets you nowhere.

5) Correction, everything is terrible according to you. Yes you are judging something you haven't even played and it's ludicrous. None of the videos I have seen look the least bit choppy, and the phrase "dumbed down" was never used lol. You just continue to make up BS to support your hate.

6) So I am biased, but you aren't? You are being extremely arrogant. Stop acting like your opinion puts you above everyone else.

'4)' I'm getting sick and tired of the 'you're afraid of change' card. I'm not afraid of change, I just don't want DMC to change into something that's worse than before. Where are your arguments, or do you have none? Again, I continue to make up BS? I argue, you do not. You have nothing to base you opinion on. You said you think Eryx looks 'badass in your book'. That's fine, but it's an argument from emotion. Are Eryx well-designed? No, they are not.

I'm not saying everything about the game is terrible - please read more than one sentence and stop taking things out of context. The voice acting is better than that of that line, that's right, but better than that of Nero from DMC4? Don't make me laugh (again). I don't see how you can't notice that the combat looks much slower than that of the old DMC series. All Nero does is cry and whine? Go play DMC4 again. All Dante does is be a smartass; it's like that's his only emotion.

Ok. I find parts of both arguments unfair. First of all, DMC4 was not really anything fantastic, not even a little, and a high framrate did it no favors. Second, there is nothing wrong with DMC, it's Capcom who is falling short on the quality, DMC still has pleanty of life, it just not in the hands of people who can make the best use of it.

Potential, perhaps, but have you seen the combat videos? Some even had titles like 'incredible combos', and I was like ''Whaaat? He keeps doing combo A, followed by B, followed by A again. Are you people blind?'' Doesn't matter if the Elohim was turbo, that's just one example of many. I guess most people don't know how to get a good combo going, and therefore need the combat to be dumbed down.

I don't want to sound like a 'hater' (such a hackneyed word), but it just looks terrible to me. The voice acting is pretty bad, with the guy who voices the new Dante sounding continuously uninterested. That, and much more. I could go on and on, but I won't, because I've got other things to do.

There's...no combo videos for the game. What the hell are you talking about? All we have of the greatest (so far) gameplay is streams from Gregaman and Dom from NT. Nobody has been given a proper chance to really experiment with the game at all. The demo will be the first time, and even then, not everything will be available. And complaining about alteration between two attacks is useless considering most of what we see in Elohim and other videos is long strings of using the same one or two moves in-between cancels.

And please, don't act like an elitist prick talking about "good combos" and people needing "dumbed down" gameplay. The pro players are awesome, but they are still a minority in the greater whole of the fanbase. You don't need to be KAIL level in order to be good at the game, or to enjoy playing it. And just because they refined the controls a little doesn't mean they dumbed it down :/ They made it less clunky. Hell, did you know Capcom wanted to get rid of the Hard Lock back in DMC3? It was a clunky mainstay from its RE roots. They wanted to find a way to get rid of needing to use a lock-on for things like Stinger and Hightime, what better way to change that control scheme than with the side-title and see what can be learned.

If you don't like it, that's fine (I hate using "hater" too), but seriously, if you don't care about it, why would you come to this forum, specifically for DmC, and talk **** about it? You're just ****ing in everyone's cereal, and makes you look like like a douche-nozzle. I wouldn't think you're a douche-nozzle, but this certainly doesn't help your case :/

The characters look terrible; Poison looks like a bag of pus with arms. That's not good enemy design. Dante looks like a guy you could encounter in real life, on the street. I don't call that good character design, with all the possible options they could choose from. Characters in Bayonetta are even much better. The voice acting is generally lackluster; Dante has almost no intonation in his voice.

In the new DmC, you don't seem to have as many combos, or at least no combos that actually look interesting. Couple that with some boring weapon sound effects, and what do you get? Mediocrity.

Sure, the old series wasn't exactly doing great in the story department, but if that's the case with a game series, they should just let it die, not change it into something completely different and slap the name DmC on there. Furthermore, the plot of this new DmC doesn't seem much better. It's kind of a cliché ''Society is rotten, we must rebel' kind of plot. I'm not really interested in a plot that draws so much from what's going on or has gone on in our society, or on views held by hippies.

I didn't call the combat gameplay dumbed down, Capcom did. You don't need to switch weapons or even do many different attacks to get an SS. I'm not being 'elitist', and I think it's kind of weird that you use that word when talking about video games. I'm by no means as good as KAIL or those other guys, but you don't have to be at that level to be good at DMC4, to make good combos. The Elohim and The Elysium contain things like using multiple attacks at the same time, like using summoned swords while chaining up attacks. I doubt that will be in DmC, but we'll see.

Of course I have to play the game first, but can you blame me for watching the gameplay footage and evaluating it? I would be surprised if DmC turns out to have much deeper combat. But the combat is not the only thing I'm interested in. I also care about the story, and so far, I'd call it uninteresting. Yeah, that's my opinion, and I would appreciate it if I can voice that. No really, I don't mean to say it in such an asshole-like way, but I often come across like that.

Firstly - Dante is meant to look more normal... haven't you seen ANY interviews? Poison is meant to look grotesque and your immaturity prevents you from seeing this and how her appearance contributes to how the player reacts to how she is the source of an energy drink.

In terms of story - don't go down this route. For too long have we had "the demons are coming!" now we have "let us stop the demons from controlling the masses" which is far more interesting but anyway...
The weapons look great and the combat looks slick I'm not sure you have seen any videos that even show the combat and you've just watched videos with others talking about the combat. Also I had no idea the previous games had great sounds for weapons... do you have the DMC weapons soundtrack? Oh wait weapon sounds are not that important and there is no such thing asbad weapon sounds! If you hate the game do that but don't be so one sided if you want to be one sided go to capcom unity forums.

Anyway, that's my opinion based on having played a lot of good hack and slash games, but also other genres of games. I think by now I know what a decent story looks like, what decent characters look like and what decent gameplay looks like. It's just my opinion, that's right, and I appreciate that I can share it with people. I mean, what are opinions for? You should at the very least be able to have a conversation with people without one side or the other going berserk.

Sorry for sounding bitchy and arrogant.

1st thing. Poison is a bag of pus...I refer she is a refrence to milk-cows and livestock in the real world. I don't think the design is great too but at least it has a idea.
2nd. If Dante wore Bright red clothes on his skin he will be on CCTV camera's and will be reported to the police the first second he comes out of his house (Also Dante in the original series was reported to the police of his attire in the audio CD of the anime). That is the major flaw of previous fans saying "Why do they needed to change the design? There is no need to do it."...Besides the first image that Capcom agreed Ninja Theory of the design of Dante was like a free detective.
3rd. Oh, please. We know that he has tons of weapons and moves already, which some are not even revealed yet, or has been played with time or skill. Besides what happened to DMC4 with all the framerates and moves? I see a lot of people resorting to do the Prop-Real impact DT glitch no matter how much moves they've got.
4th. Eh?

Poison is meant to look grotesque. Sure, but it depends on your view of what's grotesque. I'd say there are many ways to give shape to that. I would appreciate it if you refrained from calling people immature without a good reason.

Yes, see, that's also all your opinion, not fact. I'm sorry, but I can't have a reasonable conversation with somebody who gets all riled up about something they apparently can't think about in an unbiased way.
I guess the point is: we both have opinions, and let's not call one opinion stupid because you get emotional about it, and nothing more.

Find me recent footage of someone getting a high Style grade by doing literally nothing. Seriously, and find me where Capcom says they "dumbed down the gameplay." I've never heard them say anything like that. You can be elitist by talking about "what it takes to be good" and lording that over others and using it as some sort of guideline for what makes something fun or entertaining. KAIL is great, but I don't need to be anywhere near his level to have fun with the game, as is a game's primary point, to be fun and entertaining. As for Summoned Swords, Vergil DLC trailer already showed him using the Summoned Swords while attacking with Yamato, so we've already seen.

I also keep forgetting to mention that Jump Cancels still exist, and all the different things that can be done with them are possible. Having a better emphasis on aerial combat negates some of that need, but it's still there.

Of course I have to play the game first, but can you blame me for watching the gameplay footage and evaluating it? I would be surprised if DmC turns out to have much deeper combat. You can evaluate the gameplay, but you also have to listen to what else is being said, and see the potential. Gregaman at Capcom-Unity has shown off so many different things, different cancels. Watching Capcom-Unity videos is your best bet to see what is possible, because I haven't seen any cam gameplay that does the game justice, really :/

And maybe, if you don't want your comments to come off so asshole-ish, try going over what you say. It's really easy for people to misconstrue people's words just by text, so we all have to sort of go the extra mile to ensure we're understood correctly :s

With all due respect, it doesn't seem like Dante is trying to stay out of the spotlight. He keeps beating every demon up, so i don't see why he would have to stay covert. Perhaps that was what he was going for in the beginning of the game, when he's in his trailer somewhere, but I doubt it, since he's gotten himself on the (demonic) news.

Well I guess that's pure valid. I can't counter your oponion. lol
But I guess that's his nature...I mean he is forced to do it, but it's not fitting with his personality.
I think you know some guy in your high-school who wears his uniform but doesn't like to, and resorts to wearing it untidy. I think that is the attitude Dante (And the original series Dante) has in his clothing. Probably Dante will eventualy wear his red-coat he has in his closet, but not now.

Remember though, he only "beats every demon up" after they pull him into Limbo, an alternate dimension where he's already caught anyway. Dante's being covert only works for as long as he isn't thrown into Limbo by them.

Dante does what he can to stay out of sight, but when the demons have the power to pull him into a different dimension on sight, there's little he can do other than fight to get back out. It's sort of a lose-lose situation for him :/

Alot of this will be solved in 4 days but till then I present a piece of classic theatre.

For your consideration:

Fantastic, hahaha.

Although I don't think "fornicate" had a negative connotation back then, it was just a regula-ass verb back then.

I guess we are forgetting our manners to new people.

Again, I'm not saying you have to be on KAIL's level, but Capcom alreadty said that you don't need to switch weapons to get an SS combo ranking - that you can now use the same attack over and over again, with maybe one different attack thrown in between. With all due respect, please don't use the word 'elitist'. In what age do we live, anyway?

I don't care about Jump Cancel, I never used that, as it's a mindless way of getting an interesting combo going.
Yeah, I looked at Gregaman's blog once. Haven't seen any gameplay from him aside from the E3 2012 demo. I can say that you can get an S really quickly simply by spamming Eryx, though. I'll see if I can find more of his videos, then. He apparently doesn't have any on his page at Capcom-Unity.

I did see a small part of gameplay from Vergil's campaign DLC that did seem fairly fast, so maybe it's mainly Vergil's fighting style that's similar to the old DMC. When using Dante, his attacks all seem to have a pause between them. Like when using Rebellion, he does one slash, then there's a pause of almost half a second or so, and that happens after every attack. I'm not sure what to think, but I'll see if I can find more gameplay videos.

Thanks! :)
