Capcom/Ninja theory's plan was to replace Dante?

I was just thinking about the Matrix and DMC today, and how they were similar. It makes more sense that blade was the inspiration since it's about a hunter that's half of what he's fighting. I think that this version is trying to go for more of a Matrix vibe with the imaginary world and the demons(robots) secretly in charge of everything.

From I can gather Blade is more of the superficial aspects, guns, swords, Half Human hybrid, and Cobra was character inspiration, additude, red motif, female sidekick. THere are alot of other things, I'm sure, like the works of Gaudi and such, that make the game so it's not soly Blade and Cobra.

Lol it's funny. It's like color mixing.

You take a little of Blade, a little of Cobra, and a 1/2 spoons of Gaudi - and you then get the colour called "Dante".

:Dl

Oh man.. I feel like I'm ages behind. All I knew 'bout Dante was that, that he was a bad@ss half human-half demon demon huntin' son of LDK Sparda.

All thanks to you guys that I know something more :)

Well, that is Dante in a nutshell. But all characters in any game are usually inspired by other characters. Originality is hard to come by these days, as everything have more or less already been done.

And why not? The first Devil May Cry was supposed to be a Resident Evil game...
Well if i say "Asmo you inspire me". It means that the qualities you have are qualities i want to obtain (if that is even possible). In a Gaming context it means borrowing ideas from what i can understand. Blade: Sword and guns and half of two things (possible mother death too).

So with that said it's not right to say that RE is an inspiration. DMC just turned out to be RE like because it was supposed to be a sequel to RE. But they cancelled that and made RE sequel into something new - DMC.

I'd say the darkness and the twisted demons could be inspired from Resident Evil, or rather, elements which were kept and preserved from when DMC was supposed to be a sequal to RE. But yeah, as DMC is now, it's nothing like RE...

Alot of the enemies in DMC are redesigned RE creatures, the most obvious ones are the Blades who I think were inspired by the reptile enemies .

Well DMC was to be a RE sequel. That just says that they redesigned the monsters. It doesn´t say if they were inspired by them.

There was a similar argument made on Bayonetta been inspired by DMC, can you really call it inspired if both come from the same guy? If you make something and then make another similar to it is it inspiration? I think so, it is if the reason you made the second one was beceuse what drove you to do it was something you wanted to replicate from the first one. Inspiration is not purely an outside force, it can be from within.

So far all we know the new dmc could be inspired by heavenly sword, enslaved and Kung Fu chaos as much as the classic dmc, re, divine comedy, and blade.

I know that Heavenly sword (cutscene finishers, three stances, angel) and Enslaved (mystery girl support) ideas has been used in DmC. I wouldn't call it inspiration because it's just ideas that Ninja theory developers have from previous games.

Kung fu Chaos ideas? Where do you see that Z218?

What's cool now, underground culture, Heavenly Sword, their take on what DMC should be, marshmellows and sunshine, who knows.
