I totally agree with you.
To me It is a bit irritating being locked off from the very content i provide.
Said to be a prevention feels more of a punishment, as well as a turnoff from wanting to contribute as much to the forum altogether.

So WhatIF members were given unlimited editing ability in private conversations ?
And double the max number allowed to invite?

As I said before we are open to suggestions and it was just the idea that was implemented at the time as a compromise.

@LordOfDarkness is it possible to implement a system similar to Facebook where anyone can click a button to see exactly what the person edited out, instead of just giving a small note that the post has been edited? Just wondering if it's a legit suggestion since the forum makeup seems very much aligned to that of FB.

We can see if someone has edited a post but not what content was edited with the base software, I know there were options to allow this on old software but not sure about this ability on Xenforo.

I didn't pay much attention, I think it was some kind of hosting site. The last time was when I made that previous post in this thread, but it stopped for now, so I can't check.

Edit: It did it again, though this time I took note of the name and it was Alibaba premium marketplace, though I have a feeling the sites I end up on seem to change.

Scanned your own computer for spyware?

@Dark Drakan
AVG usually was known to do the trick, but this time stated all is okay. It was strange cause this site was the only one to show problems, but then it happened on another one, so I went to look for other software to help me and found Combofix, which hopefully cleaned my computer. All is fine now, sorry for taking you time and thank you.

I would recommend MalwareBytes to stop things like that.

I understand that & that's why i'm suggesting unlimited editing in private conversation at least.
That way those who feel the need don't have to worry over avoiding certain members & have decent conversations with friends at the same time.

This way people can invite friends or those they feel who are willing to take part in a discussion all with no hassle from those that irritate them.

All suggestions are considered based around the tools at our disposal.

So just curious (I'm not trying to ruffle feathers, or anything) but why is going around the swear filter suddenly an issue? I only ask, because I recall posts in which the Admins themselves have used the same tactics in their posts as the rest of us, and in the time I've been here (which isn't as long as many, but long enough), it's never come up as an issue before.

Just curious as to why it is, now.

Usually it's not much of an issue. Keeping things PG-13 is fine and occasionally throwing a bad word or two is no capital offence. The problem was a thread Meg warned people about where they were going overboard with it and getting pretty out hand. It's one of those situations where a few ruin it for the rest.

Its always been in the rules but some people are just taking it too far and actually using this method to get around the filter to insult others.

  • Refrain from excessive cursing and don't try and get around the swear filter.

So...if we're not using it in excess or to insult anyone on the forums, then may we use the starred-out-letter method in...say the ranting thread? ^^; *just wants to check since she's always done that and, for some reason, feels uncomfortable starring out the entire word*

First off all i want to thank all the staff members for their hard work.

Secondly i want to know if its ok to make a thread in the Forum Games where members can post and spam random things of course there will be one rule that apply to that thread is

  • No trolling, harassing or insulting others, or otherwise behaving like a self-absorbed idiot.

@Shadow: As @Dark Drakan said, it's always been in the forum rules. But what we're getting at (What Meg was getting at when she made the reminder) was to not use swear words excessively, using them to insult others. That's what was happening in lots of threads. People trying to get around the swear filter and the excessive use of bad language.

It comes down to how you conduct yourself. And using the odd swear word every now and then (if not directed towards anybody) and in a thread such as 'the ranting thinking thread' would be acceptable.

Bare in mind we know who is being naughty or nice in this respect ;)

@KRSkull: That's fine as you've clearly stated the purpose of the thread. And considering the section it's being posted in (A section designed for members to. post random fun games etc) there's no problem with starting a thread like the one you proposed.

Things like that are fine it's the manner in which it was being used that was causing the issue like LoD said.

Thanks for clearing that up, guys. Just wanted to make sure that as long as it's within reason, we're not in sight of any ban-hammers. ;)

Though the ban hammer is in need of a dusting I don't see it being used for instances like those you described so you are quite safe.

@Rebel Dynasty + @Shadow: You're both welcome :)

I have a question about the Points (Trophies). What are you for?

Trophy points kind of remind me of PS3 Trophies (And Xbox achievements) though they don't exactly 'give' you anything - like super human powers, or whatnot. They're a nice little incentive for members in terms of say, reaching post count milestones, receiving a vast amount of likes or even just a nice thank you for staying a member here for a long period of time.

FUDGING MOTHER FUDGERS! I'M A BIG BOY DAT CAN SAY WHAT I WANT!

Can I have a hug?

Please refrain from trying to get...Oh wait, you said fudge. Well that's fudging fine then you fudging piece of fudge ;)

I think the real questions are

1. Do you want a hug?

2. Do you really need a hug?

3. Do you deserve a hug?

and lastly

4. Do you want a small hug or a full grope? Because I can provide you with neither as this is a forum and I'm only able to provide you with virtual affection as an oppose to physical affection.
