Back on topic DmC seems to have taken its inspiration from Alter Echo (Never played the game but always wanted too) but we will not know if it is a total copy and paste until the game has been released so at the moment it is only inspiration.
It is well known that the only thing from the Divine Comedy that is used in DMC1 is the names of three of the characters in the game and the Divine Comedy, Dante, Vergil and Trish aka Beatrice, nothing else influenced it at all. The Divine Comedy did however influence DMC3 and DMC4.

The first DMC game was never influenced by The Divine Comedy at all. The only thing that it gave use was Dante, Vergil and Trish (a derivative of the name Beatrice) that is it.
DMC3 had more of a Divine Comedy influence to it as well as DMC4 (When you die the screen shatters and says 'Abandon...
But when you have seen someone try to troll you or in my case giving the troll a taste of his own medicine (I love doing that) it does become boring even if it is done right. In my opinion.

As I said myself I do not mind a bit of swearing as long as it is used in a funny way and not too much. Granted I like the idea of changing one of the lines...
But it would not be him having rehearsed one liners. I probably would have had him say it after she asked him something like "Well look what we have here. Are you here to take me out?" or something along those lines after he was thinking like he was actually contemplating taking her her.
