I meant any "spacial distortion" effects.
I don't know if there's a more accurate/universal term for it.

The most notable example is when the Marionettes (mistakenly written as "Mannequins" in my previous post) do their "war cry" attack, which causes Dante to be hung up with puppet strings if hit.
In the HD edition, you don't see the distortion.

The same distortion effect is used in the battle with Mundus in the lava pit.
He waves his hands to shoot out a blade but the blade itself is unseen in the HD edition.
Is this on the PS3 or 360? Because I don’t remember the PS3 missing those effects. It’s been a while so I can’t be 100%sure but I’m pretty sure.

PS3.

I looked it up and I think it doesn't affect the 360 version.
I most definitely have Mundus throwing invisible waves at me.

Well that explains the confusion because I have the 360 version and thus seemingly avoided that mishap. Maybe you can send a tweet to the DMC page about it so that issue won't plauge the PS4 and Xbox One version.
Also am I the only one who thinks DMC4SE wasn't added to this collection because of its recent PS4 and Xbox 1 release?

You better inform them, no offense, but I'm not interested in having a bug of my copy of the HD Collection for the PS4 when I get it.

Well he doesn't have to but could if he so chooses. Maybe it was just his PS3 copy and nobody else's?

I personally would want a instant save feature like the Mega Man collection games have. "The second Mundus fight killed ya you say? Well no worries! Simply reload your instant save and BAM! You're ready to die again."

My PS4 copy got shipped yesterday. I'm hoping it arrives tomorrow a day before its official release day, lol!

The guy at my gamestop said I'd probably be able to pick my copy up tomorrow night along with my copy of The Silver Case.
I'm really happy with the improvements I saw for DMC1 on PC. I'm assuming that they also apply to the PS4 version. The game has certainly aged but having a chance to see the details a digital remaster, things I'd never notice, is great.
The only thing I'm worried about is that Capcom will do what they did with Okami and make the games share trophies with their PS3 counterparts. I Platinumed DMC3 and I almost Platinumed DMC1 and I want to earn them again.

My copy came through the post this morning. I haven't played it yet as i'm trying to 100% all trophies on AC:Origins. Only have one left, bloody trinkets!

So, I got the themes for the PS4 and, yeah, they suck. Nothing interesting and they're rather disinteresting. They don't even have their own music and it's just static pictures. The icons on the PS4 interface have a cool little magic red circle bu that's the end of it.

Here's a good preview:

Did you play the games on the PS3? If you get a chance could you tell us if the PS3 and 4 versions share their trophies? If not, no worries, there are only 6 hours till release, I can wait till I play to find out.

Ok, there are too many threads regarding the rerelease of DMCHD that I don't know where to put stuff. I'm going to have to merge all of them.

Anyway, you ever feel like DMC1 is easier now? I mean, when I palayed (not a spelling error) that game back on the PS2 I constantly got my ass handed to me on a regular basis and so did we all, but now we can get through it with more ease. That first boss fight doesn't take as many tries, those levels take less time. Maybe we're just that good. HA! No. Your first instinct was correct, DMC1 is easier on PS3/4 and XBs.

You see:
In DMC1 USA, Dante’s attacks do 80% of the damage compared to the JPN version on Normal and Hard mode…In addition, Dante takes 20% more damage from regular enemies compared to the JPN version on all modes, including DMD.

Yeah, that's a thing and now we can add it to the DMC archives of stuff that is just infinitely inconsistent in the francise.

The fact that DMC3 was significantly harder in its Western release than the Japanese release has been common knowledge for years. I used to rant about it constantly back when I was a regular user of DevilsLair.com---to which of course, I was told to toughen up and take the challenge, instead of complaining about it, despite the fact that the Japanese players didn't have to suffer the same experience.

But the bit about DMC1 being harder here in the West than Japan is news to me. Definitely intriguing.

Each game has their own Trophies. I never got the PS3 version, but I planned to. I got that chance with the PS4 version. :)

When you first play DMC3, it was hard. But once you learn the mechanics, and gameplay, you have already mastered the game. DMC1 on the other hand... is definitely harder because of the controls. In the PlayStation versions, your sword launch, and your ivory/ebony pistols were "activated" by pressing the aim button together with the sword/gun combo. However, they made it better and easier by leaving it on the action itself. Meaning, in DMC3, once you press the shoot button, it shoots. In DMC1, you have to hold the aim button to trigger the pistol shot or shotgun. Which is archaic by today's standards.

I love DMC1, but my god the controls are ridiculous in today's marketplace. Going back to DMC1 was weird.

DMC1 is indeed a clunky and archaic experience by the standards of today.

But I find DMC3 to be fifteen billion times more frustrating for one simple reason: it did not abandon the camera system or clunky controls of the past games. DMC3's enemies are faster, more aggressive, and rely on a far better understanding of the combat system than its prior two games, and yet didn't update the camera or controls to compensate for them. You couldn't even control the camera 99% of the game, which wouldn't be a problem if the developers had made the auto-camera more versatile and workable than the one in past games...but they didn't. So you control a character that's supposed to be nimble and lightning-quick to match nimble and lightning-quick enemies, but simultaneously keep finding yourself fighting the claustrophobic camera that is placed far too close to the ground and doesn't move nearly fast enough to keep up with the frenzy of action taking place.

This is one of many reasons I find DMC4 superior, because the technical aspects of the game actually matched the ambition of the combat system. The devs literally changed the camera speed and distance to allow for more aerial-based moves on the MT Framework Engine, and thus made the action far more manageable. You could actually see what you were doing, and the difficulty came from the ferocity of the enemies and your own mastery of the combat, not the cumbersome process of adjusting to an abysmal camera like DMC3's. And that's not even getting to how they improved the fluidity of the controls and reduced the God-awful clunkiness of DMC3's horrendously-forced weight and delay on certain maneuvers, like dodging or jumping.
