My experience with them has been mostly positive.

Helped me find my father when he had a small seizure while driving and got lost.
Are usually very straightforward with their questions and kinda friendly when not on duty.

Only time I've come close to a bad experience was when an officer yelled at me for almost riding my bike into a crime scene.:cautious:

The police in my area have been so affected by budget cuts that you just don't see bobbies on the beat anymore like you used to. Not to mention I don't even know where the police station is now that they've knocked down the one in the town centre.

Therefore, if there is a social problem in the neighborhood. We don't call the police anymore, we have to band together and sort it out ourselves.

Well I've had a mixture of experiences with the law:

  • Once stopped by the police when I was walking home from my Fiancée's. They asked why I was out late, what I was up to (that sort of thing). I explained that I was walking home, and they told me to get in the car and they'd take me home. I had a joke with them that I hope they were real police officers, and not criminals dressed as cops that had somehow stolen a police car. They had a sense of humour and were polite, and I thanked them for giving me a lift home.


  • Again, I was stopped one night after I had left my Fiancée's. I was walking over a bridge, and the officer got out of his car and started asking me questions. I tried to explain that I was just walking home, and he was under the impression that I was involved in some crime that had happened that day. Despite the fact that I'd been in another City all day doing some shopping and whatnot. He didn't seem very convinced until I gave him my name and details and he'd spoken further to whoever was on the other end of the police radio. He wouldn't even tell me what I was apparently being accused of, and when I did ask all he said was something stupid about why I wanted to know so bad. Um, maybe because I don't wish to be accused of having done nothing wrong?...duh!.

Had two douches follow me half of the street because I went on yellow light which apparently changed to red halfway :/ They wanted me to pay, but since I was hurrying to school they let it slide. Had to ask myself if they don't have anything important to do with their jobs. :/

got stopped while riding with my pal, don't bring license and papers and my plate was deliberately put down, i acted dumb and innocent, police bought it and let us went along.. but he did asked for money before that, which i said i had none --they do that here.. that kind of policeman is a rare kind here, usually they'll do anything to get the money..

oh, is military a law enforcer? cuz i've taken a punch from one, this smug went against the traffic to cross to his side --they do that here too, this country is a mess--, didn't see him coming and we crashed, i came to him before i realize he's in the uniform and he threw me a punch..
it's a military area, and my friend who came from military family was hanging around there "good of you not to pull any stunt against him.." she said --not that i would after seeing the uniform--, but yeah, you don't mess with these uniforms here, they think they own the country.. god i hate this dumb **** hole of a country

@Blackquill: They did the same thing with our police station in Town. The police now operate from within the Town Hall.

I've had other experiences with them, and for the most part they've been helpful enough. Except for this one time which was probably the worst experience I've had.

  • Me and the Fiancée were out in Town, taking a look around in shops and such. We'd left this one shop, and were walking down the street, until some guy approached us. He was just wearing ordinary clothing, so we both just assumed he was after money or to try and sell us/hand us something. Anyway, we try walking away and he follows us, demanding that we stop. He catches up to my Fiancée, and grabs ahold of her arm. At this point I go over, and he eventually shows his police badge. You have no idea how close I was to punching him. After about a minute or so of talking to him, about five other officers show up. We've got a small army interrogating us in the street, whilst people watch us like some soap opera. It was all because some kid in one of the shops thought my Fiancée had stolen something (a hair product or something), even though my Fiancée works in a shop that sells hair products cheap. Besides the point, it was all rather unnecessary, and there's no way that plain clothed officer should have behaved like that.

I'm sorry, but that's just how I feel. Malik, I don't mind if you berate me for this post, it's just that I can't help but find it... a little off.

They can't be doing a good job then, because in that case I'd need a daily checkup.

Well, considering I'm an anti-social 18 year old college student who lives with his parents, I don't think the government would reach out to me to do much of anything.
 
My relationhip with cops... well, I mostly kill them.

Use to wanna be one....Till I decided to pursue my passion for film.

Don't have much personal experience, closest being if I'm walking down the street and a cop car drives past, I nod, officer nods back
 
I've had a handful of experiences with law enforcement, two of which were decent and the other two... not so much. The first two I wished I had followed up with and took the cop's name but I was still young and overly reverent to authorities then.
  1. I was stopped for speeding when in my final year of high school. The cop said that if I gave him a kiss he wouldn't write me a ticket. I took the ticket. I didn't tell my parents because I didn't want them to know I was speeding and got pulled over.
  2. I think it was my first year of university and I went to a club with my boss and co-workers at the time. I met a guy there and we were chatting and I asked him to watch my drink so I could use the bathroom. I started feeling faint soon after, and not wanting to appear like a light-weight or cause a scene to my co-workers I went to the bathroom again and passed out. Around closing time, I woke up to find three male officers in the ladies room and they told me if I don't leave immediately they'll arrest me. My co-workers had evidently already left, so I booted it, found a Tim Hortons, and somehow managed to call a cab home.
  3. In elementary school - in fact, it was pretty close to graduation, a group of girls had told me that they were going to beat me up after school. My dad's buddy is a cop and for the remainder of the year, which was only like a week, he picked me up in full uniform after school and drove me home. I felt pretty bad-ass at the time getting a police escort. :D Later on in high-school, there were a couple instances where girls threatened to beat me up and I would be like 'go right ahead. I'll sue you for assault and you'll be in prison, just so you know.' Somehow it worked every time.
  4. I was driving home at around 2am on a Saturday morning from studying and a cop pulled me over. I was a bit nervous at first because I wasn't speeding or anything, but they just told me my license had expired and to get it renewed asap.

in middle school there was a bridge that was always under construction. and one day a friend of mine and i decided to walk on the outside of the bridge because part of the suicide gate was taken down. needless to say we got caught when we reached the end and that was the first time i'd ever seen a cop angry. and he screamed at me and called my mom. looking back it's pretty funny, but back then i was hella scared
