I’m really annoyed with the decision to turn Ciri into a witcher for the new game. It breaks the established lore, raises a ton of questions as to whhhhy and how this even happened, and completely misses the point of the established story, which makes clear that being a witcher is awful and not something anyone does or even should want.

The developers have said the goal of this new saga is to appeal to new fans, so they have deliberately broken away from established lore to do so. When has that ever worked? Ciri as the protagonist makes sense, but turning her into a female Geralt is just dumb.

Yes yes, I know all we have is one cinematic trailer and some interviews, but the direction is still bad regardless of whatever ham fisted reason they come up with to justify it.

What really irks me is that one interview where the dude said that having Ciri as the protagonist opens up so many different stories to tell that they couldn't with Geralt - and I'm like, but the one story you clearly aren't interested in was Ciri's as you've stripped away what made her unique from Geralt.

While i agree with both takes, i am still relieved that it is ciri and not an unknown witcher they made just to tell a new story.

If it wasn't ciri then a prequel with vesimir would be my next choice
