It is the steam from the sauna, it clears your sinus and your ear nose and throat, which helps with breathing and headache.I'm ready to battle anyone claiming sauna is not helping when you're ill. Sure it doesn’t cure flu, but it makes life a little more tolerable. Add some lavender sauna honey directly on your skin, some tar on the water, and at least my neuro-fcked-up brain cells are singing kumbayaa instead of constant whining and being so darn aware of any sense of uncomfortability for a moment. ^_^
Also, tar is well known for its antibacterial effects. I add it a couple of drops into the water I throw on the stones so it vaporizes. It is the steam from the sauna, it clears your sinus and your ear nose and throat, which helps with breathing and headache.
Here we fill a basin with boiling water, and put a towel over our head and the basin and breath in the steam and vapours to help with cold and flu.

I recommend learning to harvest from the wild. I use some wild herbs in my kitchen, also my mother-in-law taught me to find and pick mushrooms and berries from the forests. I've preserved them, some of them are frozen, some dried, some made into jam or pickled. It saves a lot of money, but is also fun when you get to it. Nothing beats the feeling when you see a yellow spot in the forest bed and recognize it as a chanterelle.I intend on trying to save money next year. I never save up, you see. I want it to be a new goal I aim for.
You can still eat healthy and spend a lot less cash. For example, frozen fruit and veggies goes a long way. You just need to be sure there's no additives, and they can usually be just as healthy a choice as fresh produce.
