Pale Rider
Wickedly good
Thinking of buying a new graphics card, but damn, I'm ****ing broke
I can't tell if I'm being shrewd, or if I'm being paranoid by not posting more of my work to those sites. I mean, other people pretty much put all of their content out there, and all I can think is, "What if someone steals it?" Oh sure, there are far better writers than me, and probably far more interesting stories a thief would rather steal; that's why it boggles my mind when some of these exceptional writers put all of it out there--if I'm worried about my little WIP, why the heck aren't they worried about their gold mine? O_O
I feel the same way. I haven't had anything stolen yet (though I've had a couple people borrow things without asking before) but I still don't want to put all my original stuff out there unless it's being written specifically for online.
Link me PLEASE!!!!Holy crap, this is really, really good. Must...keep...reading...
Thank God it was only fanfiction.I know the same has happened to DS, as well. Some twonk stole the entire premise behind one of her 'fics, only it was lousily done; like they didn't copy and paste, but tried to write it their way (which was...well, it was abysmal, to say the least).
I'm glad I'm not the only one safe-guarding, then. It's one thing if it's just for practice and to get feedback, but when it's something you hope to churn out in paperback and hardcover form? (Or even through Amazon). Nuh-uh; gotta protect our brain children. Which is kind of a pity, really.
Link me PLEASE!!!!

I used to feel the same, but I've gotten to the point now where, if I want to build my author platform, I can link away to my work to share with the public and get my name out that way. If any monkey does try to steal it, you've got dozens of logged proof that it is your copyrighted work. And then sue the crap out of them. Having a stamp of plagiarism behind your name in the writing community means you're gonna have to stick to that job at McDonalds and kiss your chance at publishing g'bye.
Plus, you have authenticity on your side. Even if someone steals your character or premise, they will never pull it off as well as you, and it will show. It will read like fanfiction, I'm sure.
Edit
6666th post!
If it were me, I would get them in this order:Hmm... I'm not sure if I should get Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Darksiders or Lord of Shadows 2 this next pay day. Decisions, decisions.
It's okay! I actually just got it figured out. Thank you though <3 *hugs*@Sparda's rejected son Hmm...I'd say it depends on the fandom; certain ones I have no trouble mentioning to the supposed "normal people", and other ones...other ones I keep to myself, or to the community of people I know enjoy it, as well.
@Winterfrost Dunno if I can help, but at the very least, I'll listen--if you want, of course.
Maybe he just got banned and needed to use your name. What a generous hacker.
Sure showed him when I changed all my **** then.Maybe he just got banned and needed to use your name.
I would get Lord of Shadows 2 plus DLC but I lack an internet source for my PS3 sadly. If it were me, I would get them in this order:
Lords of Shadow 2 (plus Alucard DLC)
Darksiders 2 (or the first one)
Ninja Gaiden Sigma (I like the weapons in NGS2 better though).
I like all three, and DSII will forever be my favorite game of all time but... I really feel like playing LoS2 more right now, 'cause the hype is still somewhat new.
You've seen my thread complaining about this, right? Seriously, go read my thread. =)I would get Lord of Shadows 2 plus DLC but I lack an internet source for my PS3 sadly.
I am definitely sticking to physical copies, digital copies make me uneasy. You've seen my thread complaining about this, right? Seriously, go read my thread. =)
