It has a 1999 mode which is really hard. It's unlocked after you finish the game once, or it can be unlocked with the konami code.
I'm on my 3rd playthrough. Now I do it to watch the Lutece 'twins'. They're just so interesting, funny and tragic at the same time.
The story is so good I wanted to experience it again. I don't bother with harder modes for this game since it's not what I'm interested in. I have about 20 audio-logs to find still. I'm going to print out a locations guide and play through again with that. Eventually. I started playing the original Bioshock before playing Infinite for the first time. I want to go back and finish that.
