Hm, I really like this speculation, especially the idea that it's Vergil taking the loss of his family even harder than Dante that drives him to his "downfall" (rather than Vergil just being power-hungry out of pride and avarice) and that his version of Limbo is darker because his subconscious is. It's true that Limbo in Dante's game seems like happy fun time Candyland compared to wherever Vergil is, ominous music included. But I wonder if that heart is actually a glimpse of Hell, a throwback to the beating heart in DMC1's version of Hell. I suspect Vergil has to go pretty deep into the breach to get the power he wants. I'm thinking, since this is happening before Vergil meets Dante again, that Vergil has already been corrupted by the time Dante's game starts. I don't think caring about Dante is an act, but if Dante won't cooperate with Vergil's goals and methods, then, well.

I think I'll be better at playing as Vergil than Dante. Using Dark Slayer Mode in DMC3:SE made everything so much damn easier. It was limited, but man, was it good.

i think that Vergil has genuine concern and love towards Dante. in Vergils eyes Dantes the only other person who could ever truely understand him. they are twins after all. so if this is before he meets dante then here Vergil is learning the truth about the world. and when he meets Dante he probably expects him to act just like him. to have the exact same drive and motives. he thinks if dante can just remember. remember what happened that night to him, to Vergil to their father, mother and their home. then Dante will stand by his brother and the two will work together to defeat mundus and gain ultimate power. however Dante doesnt want power. he wants peace. unlike Vergil he doesnt fear that at any moment he could loose everything he loves ( this happened to Vergil twice) so he doesnt feel an urge to become the strongest therefore the safest things happen, you cant change them no matter how bad, you just learn to move on, its called living. while Vergil refuses to accept that. to him as long as demons exist they will try and take everything. he's to scared to loose what he loves. so i think he'll instead become detached from people. he cant loose what he hasnt got. and at that point where its the choice between ending the conflict and gaining control that Dante and Vergil split.

and i hadnt thought about the beating heart from DMC1 good eye mate. perhaps here its more literal. if Vergil accepts it then he becomes powerful but it must replace the heart he already has.

Waaa waaa! extra preorder content. waaa waaa. how dare they try to give us more for our money. waa waa they are soo selfish trying to add more onto theyre game. waa waa. i claim to hate this game yet am following ninja theory and DmC on facebook and twittter and am constantly checking for updates. waa waa.
 
Here's the thing.

How many people here knew Vergil was going to playable? All of us. Even when they said flat out 'sorry, but no' we knew they were going to make it. And how many people said it was going to be DLC? a lot of us, and most of the people that said that suspected it was going to be another DLC fiasco where Capcom would try to milk money out their customers again and right now, for the people that suspected that, this is a pretty big confirmation of that theory.

On release hackers are going to try to crack that disc open and until then people are going to be suspisious of this DLC. I know it won't be there because Capcom ain't stupid enough to put it there again. If they are trying to pull one over us they won't make it obvious like they did before; It'll be a simple matter of not putting the content on the disc. Just because we assume they're greedy doesn't make them stupid.


As for the actual content? There is something different about Vergil here. He gives of a different aura. In the story trailers he seems robotic at times, but here he is more alive. It's not just the hair and the angry look. The way he moves seems more animated and less maticulious.

I think somethings going to break inside of Vergil before the end of the story in the DLC. I'm going to say that he's going to start been much more like Dante and then transforming to what he is now.
 
Well, for one, the way he moves in the Vergil's Downfall trailer is combat, while in all the other trailers he has been in show...him standing there, pretty much :p

i personally think this story takes place shortly after his foster parents are killed by mundus's demons. he goes on his own path of vengence discovering yammato and his powers. until he finds the truth about him and decides on what must be done. OR a direct sequel showing what happens to him SPOILERS as in the trophies it says dante fights Vergil now i hope its not a huge conflict perhaps banter between bros and they save the serious conflict for a different game but if a serious fight is the case. maybe dante seals Vergil in limbo (perhaps by mistake) and Vergil has to fight his way out. or perhaps he sacrifices himself and ends up being sealed but instantly finds more than he gambled on.
 
seeing as the release date for the dlc is "early 2013" not "on disk" or "on release day" i think they confirmed they arent that dumb on top of that this is probably still in development since they probably wanna focus on dante for the games release and vergil is priority number 1 post game release

You can thank the whole SFxTekken drama for that. That game sold pretty badly because of the dlc on disc drama and with a sticky issue like DMC reboot they didn't want to repeat that. I gotta say I think Capcom hit my weak spot, my love for vergil, so i might need to reconsider waiting for the PC release... Also I think doppleganger will be his devil trigger.
 
And I doubt we will see Sparda. Vergil was apparently raised by another rich family that adopted him after his parents' deaths. He is too old in the DLC for Sparda to be alive. A flashback, maybe?

The move where Virgil sticks his sword in the ground has a red colored trail so maybe Virgil doesnt switch weapons when he uses different stances, maybe he just switches his fighting style like channeling his demon power through the yamato to increase its powers while angel powers make him faster or something like that.The left and right on the d-pad could switch his style while up switches his weapons.

It's not free to me, there is no gamestop in Brazil. No matter how much I want to preorder it, I'll still have to spend extra $9.

That's what I've been thinking as well - different sword styles instead of different weapons.

Yep, I'm also from Brazil and there is none here unfortunately...

It's quite sad, to be honest, but I'm quite happy to know Vergil is playable, lol. So, I'll see what I can do. :)

Yeah, I'm also very happy about the announcement, and I'll buy it day one, but it's not cool of him to spread false information.

Well he's technically not spreading false info, it's just he's not being specific with his information. It is free if people are able to pre-order their copy from Gamestop or EB Games, however they should expand this to other countries so everyone can get the opportunity to get it free.
