Vergil Discussion

Actually, I don't think Vergil's Downfall has much to do about his adoptive family. That mansion we see burning in the DLC trailer is Sparda and Eva's - watch the Home Truths video again, and you'll see the same architecture, and burnt out rooftop that is shown in the DLC trailer :x

I highly doubt Vergil will be better than the actual MAIN CHARACTER. IF you're a Vergil fan, I respect your opinion. Vergil's Downfall could most likely be about Vergil taking on Mundus before the events of DmC. Vergil lost the fight, and Mundus thought he was dead, so he banished him to the hell version of Limbo City. You have to fight your way out of the pits of hell, and when he rose to the surface he was badly injured. Kat found him, and took him to safety. When Vergil recovered, he lays low for a while, and hides his face under the mask. He may have gained some knew found powers while in fighting, but he knew it wasn't enough. So he sent a messenger to get a secret weapon...his twin brother. Thus DmC.

That's pretty much what I think too.

BTW, lose the first sentence. That's really uncalled for.

By having better gameplay? I believe everyone who said about Vergil being better than Dante was talking about the gameplay shown, which is miles better than anything we've seen from Dante this far.

If we're talking about the characters, we barely know Vergil and previews already stated that Dante is a very different character then what the trailers lead us to believe, so comparing them like that is pointless until we have the full game.

Sucks that they have to get a digital one though. Some people love their physical copies of things.

No, people meant the moves in his entire arsenal is better than Dante's. The moves we've seen will most likely be in the fight between Dante and Vergil at the end of the game, but we've seen about 1 quarter of what Dante has in his arsenal.

I don't think so, from the glimpses we've got from the upgrade menus, there aren't many things we didn't see yet, and the "lvl 2" for everything that I could see so far is just "more damage", which is pretty boring.

And I even saw that during the first mission, there is no slow ass hit stop during Death Coil, maybe only the level 2 have this? If so, I won't upgrade anything at all, **** that hit stop man.

I you go to PSN the pre-order for DmC is available with a description of Vergil's DLC. It descrives it as taking place after the events of DmC, which contradicts some sources that say before.

Vergil is one of the best things about the original DMC series. It's always cool to have a character that is the opposite version of your protagonist. I have no source, but my feeling is that the DLC takes place after the game. Either way I hope they keep him around for a sequel (granted that's if we get one).

Ninja Theory's/Capcom's main focus was the combat mechanics. We've maybe found out about all the weapons available in the game, but we haven't seen all the moves in the game. It would be pointless to make the upgrades purpose to do more damage. You're pretty much asking to be spoiled, which will cause the entire game to be "boring". There is about 12 weapons in the game including guns, and game-plays were mostly Level 1 techniques. So like I said, we've only seen about a quarter of his moves.

I don't think so

If the achievements are any indicative, there will be 5 melee weapons and 3 guns. Yes, it's pointless to make the upgrades just do more damage, but that's what it says in the upgrade page.

And I don't think that being spoiled makes the game boring, at least not a DMC game. I already know everything about the story of a game when I'm playing it for the 10th time or something like that. If it gets boring just because you know the story, then it's not worthy of the DMC name.

That bieng said, I do wish they wouldn't spoil that much, I just watched everything because I wanted more gameplay footage, but for all I care they could have just displayed the same level over and over again with different players and new weapons.

i also wish they didnt show us as many levels as they have and just stack to combos adn weapons. but they wanted to show off what they could do and you have to respect that. also you cant really use the trophies as a mark to see what weapons exist as there isnt a trophy for every flagstone in the game. eg none for bob or poison. as such i think the melee weapons we see in the trophy list may just be the ones with story value and there are actually a few more.thats just me thinking adn i may be wrong but hey last week everyone thought the vergil gameplay was a confirmed impossibility and now look. we have it :D

Yes, I can see we having things like a secret weapon for finishing all of the secret missions, or a secret weapon after beating Furnace of Souls, but I still can't see 12 weapons being a real number. 1 or 2 more is a possibility, and so is no more weapons, but up to 12? No way.

Sorry to cut the discussions but I heard something quite interesting from the Japan DmC players.
I was talking to one of the players while he was watching the Vergil release trailer and he said.
"So, Aquila is a shuriken...I guess Ninja theory wanted to put that in. But it seems to me Vergil too has a ninja weapon. Did anyone notice Yamato is not as long as it was? Or how it's not curved as a Katana? I guess this is a Ninja sword."

It quite makes sense, since Ninja swords are straight to scale walls with them and has lots of other properties.
