Vergil Discussion

The thing with this is people would say oh old Vergil was way faster and with Dante thats actually a good arguement as much as i hate to admit it. With Vergil it actually looks like he's just as fast as the classic one to me

ok guys now that the shock and awe has worn off (mostly) this is what i think that Vergils downfall will be about. note this is spoiler free and purely speculation (ish)

now from the gameplay trailer we see dante goes into a realm of limbo with a chained statue. in this realm he gains the angel grab and fights off dozens of demons that inhabit it. now it got me thinking....what if this is DANTES realm of limbo. one that exists in his mind. it has all his hidden potential locked in it along with his memories which he struggles to access though the game. like a trauma patient. this being said i think most if not all of Vergils downfall will take place in Vergils realm of limbo. this is because it looks eerilie familiar to Dantes and note the flaming mansion my money is on that it is their old home. he remembers it on fire because its part of his trauma. im not sure why but it seems Vergil was struck far deeper by the loss of eva and sparda than dante. so his realm is in turn darker and more sinister reflecting his own subconscious. his monsters seems scarier and more threatening than the ones in Dante because Vergils inner demons are far worse. where Dante doesnt allow himself to be caught in the past and tries to move on to something better. Vergil is obsessed with it. it "clouds" his judgement. as such his realm is one of chaos stuck in an infinite loop of demonic chaos.

as such while in his realm of limbo Vergil will be hunting the key to his own hidden potential. he wants it now along with all of the secrets of Sparda and Eva to make him stronger so he can attain revenge at all costs. as well as gain the power he feels will insure he (and maybe Dante) can live happily and without fear. as he travels further into his realm we will begin to learn a lot about Vergil. not through flash backs but from how he acts. he seems to be colder and more violent in this game and much more ruthless than the man who hugged his long lost brother a few trailers ago. we will learn more about what drives him. until in the end Vergil will destroy the blue heart (which i think is his "humanity") to attain power.

This is the final build and it's kind of justified with the fact that Vergil is just a better fighter than him anyway. Something tells me Dante will get to be just as fast by the end of the story.

Also, Vergil is locked in Dante's current trigger mode. hehehe

If you remember in DMC 3 Vergil's summoned swords resembled the Force Edge, but now it resembles a new sword kind of demonic sword...maybe an unlockable weapon? who knows...

Are there frame rates drops in the trailer? People are bitching that there are but I can't see any :/

Having recently played DMC4 without Turbo Mode, I really don't think it is way faster than the new Dante.

Hell, I don't even think it's any faster

That is an awesome theory 778masri!
I really like the part where Vergil has to destroy his heart to obtain power. I hope your theory is pretty accurate. :)

Are you serious? I've watched the trailer 10000x like I'm sure all of you guys have and there are no framerate drops.
Man they just HAVE to find something wrong with everything don't they?

I have downloaded the highest quality I could get from youtube and broke it down frame by frame.
There are no frame rate drops, he can teleport and it's f*cking awesome.

HA! Framerate drops on a promotional video...that's...that's just rich.

As we come closer to the release date and learn more about the game, the complaints are really starting to dig at the bottom of the barrel...

I used savevid.com whenever I want to snag videos to show at work. Helps drive up reserves and hype for games :3 Hint: the yellow tabs are PS3 compatible~

This is probably the best time to be a DmC fan as far as I'm concerned. Right now all they can do is grasp on straws. When DmC is released, whether it's a work of art or a steaming turd they'll tear into every flaw the game has like rabid hyenas.

Thanks for the help guys! And yeah I'm laughing so hard at all the people TRYING to find errors and things to complain about. You are all just putting a smile on my face. :)

It's actually kind of hilarious how all the flashy style and design NT completely excised from Dante is still there in Vergil, right down to the floppy white hair. It's as if NT is trying to make peace with all the fans who miss the classic swagg. Of course, there's no compromising with people who won't be satisfied with less than DMC5 magically appearing in DmC's place, but as a fan on the fence, I'm happy with the gesture.

VERGIL DLC GIFS PART ONE

Paexie, those gifs are ridiculously awesome!

Hm, I really like this speculation, especially the idea that it's Vergil taking the loss of his family even harder than Dante that drives him to his "downfall" (rather than Vergil just being power-hungry out of pride and avarice) and that his version of Limbo is darker because his subconscious is. It's true that Limbo in Dante's game seems like happy fun time Candyland compared to wherever Vergil is, ominous music included. But I wonder if that heart is actually a glimpse of Hell, a throwback to the beating heart in DMC1's version of Hell. I suspect Vergil has to go pretty deep into the breach to get the power he wants. I'm thinking, since this is happening before Vergil meets Dante again, that Vergil has already been corrupted by the time Dante's game starts. I don't think caring about Dante is an act, but if Dante won't cooperate with Vergil's goals and methods, then, well.

I think I'll be better at playing as Vergil than Dante. Using Dark Slayer Mode in DMC3:SE made everything so much damn easier. It was limited, but man, was it good.
