Something I am curious about is, didn't either Shankar or JYB say that there was a reason why Dante was recast and that it would be revealed?
I am wondering if now that all the episodes are out, are we any closer to understanding what that was?

I remember how I joked about DmC Sparda being a "whip-ass bondage slave" due to his depiction of being chained but now Dante is the "whip-ass bondage boy" in the Netflix anime.
Are they appealing to some fantasy, having him in high-tech handcuffs for so long?

Sounds like marketing bait to me to keep people watching the show instead of noping out immediately at the sound of JYB's voice coming out of Dante's mouth.
Maybe it wasn't intended to be a reference but to me, Dante's "partial Devil Trigger" reminds me of the DmC Devil Trigger, as well as how Devil Trigger worked in DMC1.

Were they referencing Skyrim when Dante gets knocked out and wakes up bound with a bunch of other people in a moving vehicle? XD

.... I think you're seeing something that isn't there.
My own thoughts:
- Aside from being a great way to give us a taste of just how elite Darkcom is, the episode where Lady spots a demon disguised as a human makes me curious how they'll handle Trish and Lucia's designs. Will they completely pass as human or have more inhuman features that they can cover up?
- I didn't imagine Arkham of all characters to get a sympathetic depiction. Also, Mary was either really brave or just really weird as a kid. If I saw a demon at that age, my reaction wouldn't be to point my toy gun at it.
- The flashback showing the twins arguing over whose amulet was bigger reminded me of the "I have a bigger dick" line from the Ninja Theory game. I'm almost certain this was intentional.
- I know neither the games nor the designers stated what race Lucia is, but it's rather jarring to see her so light-skinned. Then again, I'm glad she was acknowledged at all. Hopefully she gets a more game accurate design if there's a second season.
- I wish at least some of the Darkcom members lasted a little longer.
- I get some of the criticism's about Mary here, but I do think the show is doing a good enough job sowing the seeds for her development.
- I know this is controversial but I do like that humans aren't totally helpless against demons here.
- Did anyone else get reminded of Nero when Dante partially manifested his Devil Trigger through his arm changing? Him being voiced by Yong-Bosch doesn't help.
All in all, I would say this wasn't the Devil May Cry animated series I would have made. I can appreciate some things they did and I disagree with certain other ones. Whether you like it or hate it I totally understand.

That's-- what!? Getting handcuff is not a sexy thing every time it happens. Police aren't like that. Military detention is... rarely like that. Look, that van was made for demons. It's made to contain and kill them. Of course they'd have extra industrial strength restraints when they know what they're capable of.

how the hell does dante not know he is the son of sparda, or half demon. To make it worse he thought he was a superhero smh
An interesting factoid that came to my attention was that Tony Todd is apparently not in the credits for season 1 despite confirming prior to release that he was in the show. That has me curious to know whether there was cut content or if work has already begun on a season 2.
I’m taking this series like someone told me that it’s just another dimension, like how DMC 2 Dante in the novel went to a different world where his brother took his place to fight against Mundas with other Demons so it doesn’t bother me as such, it’s just like everyone said it’s just fan service now 
Really, really funny how the discussion surrounding this anime (at least on Twitter and Reddit) is the EXACT same topics this forum had back when DmC was announced and released circa 2011-2014.
