New Gameplay

I think that the reason you say this is because you've played all the DMC games. There are actually some new fans who have never played the past DMC games, and need a bit of a crash course on the possibilities of what you can do on a DmC game.

This is true. But that was also the case whenever someone jumped into... say.... DMC1. lol And DMC1 was just "go out there... press buttons... I dunno..." XD It was by far the worst in the series when it came to hints and tutorials and it was actually the first one. I might be offended by this, since DmC might be saying "Western audiences are actually more retarded."

lol Dom, got it. Isn't he like the best player right now? I bet you anything that will change 2 days after the game is out XD

Well, given hints that are hard to accomplish are also alright. The satisfaction of doing it can still come from there.

But when it comes to games like DMC, I like to experiment around with enemies to see what works and what doesn't. Because DMC games are all based on replays, meaning you will most likely want to replay the game, and every time you jump back in you keep discovering new ways of beating enemies that you never even knew of, hence adding replay value. So I wouldn't like a game like DMC to actually tell me how to beat enemies because then people would be all like "You're doing it the wrong way." And I would freak out and say "ZOMG I dontz does wut da stoopid game tellz me, I'm srry!" or something XD
Well if you ask me Gregaman is the best playtester, considering he's the one that does all the livestream gameplays.

Which is why I say "Some people didn't play DMC1." some don't try to do things differently cause they've never experienced that from the past games cause they never bothered to play them.

Yeah, he's probably the best player in America right now... since Dom is from Europe... I think.

Oh I see what you mean. So, in the end, it is going to be a give and take. Older fans would be all like "wtf, why are you holding my hand?" While it will attract new people that only play those games that do hold your hand. It seems a legit way to make the game sell, since fans will get it anyway, but that is why it would be a slap in the face to them... I would still deal with it, but... you know..

I'm pretty sure us advanced players will be able to turn off tutorials and hints just like in the old games, but new players will be able to use them to their advantage to get a better understanding of the game.

Hopefully. But then I would probably miss a more key hint about things that it would be impossible to know without them. Like... what exactly lost souls do... or what is a secret door... etc. The later I actually don't know what it is, lol. It IS in the game though, since it states it on the pause menu.

Well I would think that if you turn off tutorials/hints it wouldn't turn off something like that, something like an object description. At least I would hope not! :P

I think those will stay. Like in DMC3 when you first get a green orb, it explains what it's used for even with tutorials off.

Unfortunately I don't think they are allowed to show ALL of the fight. :(
But one thing I am looking forward to is Greg said he was going to try to explore some jump cancelling on the stream.

Did Greg say anything about what is going to be shown tomorrow?

Any chances of seeing the complete Overturn mission? I want to know what happens after he kills those 2 rages, lol.

Thanks, you're the man! XD

I think we're getting the same small bit of Bob Barbas boss fight, same part of the Overturn mission and maybe some more questions.
Unfortunately I don't think we will get some new gameplay until TGS, but hey that's not too far away so let's hope for some more awesomeness! :)
And thanks! :)

Ah, I see. You're welcome. I'm still confident about something new today, though. :)

I guess I'm a little optimistic. Talking about that, anything new regarding Pax today?

And as usual people will cry wolf when there is nothing to worry about. The argument thus far, from what i read, is that the game will be screwed if it shows you how to beat the enemies. Well i have the solution either 1)this will only be for the demo version or 2)you will be able to toggle the tutorial option (assuming if it makes it into the final product).
As for the tutorial itself i see nothing wrong with it, though i agree it DOES take away from the prospect of experimentation, it doesn't flat out tell you how to beat the enemy.

As you can blatantly see, it only shows you an "advanced tip" on how to launch the Tyrant. My opinion is even though it DOES reduce experimentation on enemies a bit initially, it will encourage the player to use different weapons and methods to attack their enemies.

It's not so much about the tip itself, but more about what it is trying to convey with it.

They said that this wasn't a game that will be telling you tricks you could use and that they will let the community figure those out by themselves. But now they are taking some of those words back. If any regular individual watches that gameplay, their first impression of the game would be that of a game that gives you hints on the enemies whenever you encounter them. And that is especially how DMC fans will see it. Newcomers will probably think nothing of it but still find it interesting, depending if they like games with hints or not.

At any rate, in the latest playthrough they did, I think there is such thing as evade cancel in this game, which works almost as efficient as jump canceling. Greg did one when he did a first Aerial Rave hit > evade > cancel into Aerial Rave again. It wasn't as fast as a jump cancel, but it was fast enough so that he could hit the enemy again before it fell down.

We also have to consider maybe that advanced tip isn't the only way to defeat the Tyrant.

No, obviously, it isn't. It's not even telling you how to beat it, just stopping his movement for the most part. But the tips can pile up and eventually you will probably have a basic strategy for each enemy, given to you by the game and not because you figured it out. I'm pretty sure that is a demo tip though, because I have also seen pretty stupid tips that if that were to be the game then you would have already known how to do that at level 7.

For me nothing new as I seen this one on Friday, If im wrong you all could correct me, Im waiting for next streams now from Japan when they come.
