We just dont want Dante's mother to be raped that's all. However, it will add some depth to the story.
It would make us and Dante- vergil hate mundus even more and NT can introduce a whole new level of anger, remorse and thirst for vengeance

For women, rape is a bigger threat. Yes, murder is bad enough. But in this game you're not killing people, you're killing demons. As far as I can tell that's something people would actually reward if it were real. There's also the fact that, most of the time, the deaths are quick. Rape tends to draw out. And the victim tends to suffer more afterward, if left alive. That's why it's considered worse.

I tend to agree that it shouldn't be in the game. If you think it's something that can be portrayed in a way that isn't going to make the viewer uncomfortable, watch some rape-revenge films. The House on the Left, I Spit on Your Grave, even The Hills Have Eyes would qualify. If you can especially get through I Spit on Your Grave without discomfort, and the realization of what rape does to the victim, there is seriously something wrong.

It's easier to take if it's implied and not shown. You still feel sorry for the victim, but it's not shoved in your face, you don't hear the victim scream and try to fight.

How old are you? Rape is used as a literary device in many forms of media, so why can't it be used in games?

Its all about delivery. If rape is glorified, then it should not be shown. If it used to show something greater like sadness or send a message, then it is fine.

Also, Dante doesn't smoke anymore. He kicked the habit.

And I'm pretty sure the ratings classifications are there to stop parents from buying kids mature games, but regardless, every 5 year old has seen Captain Price hang Makarov in MW3 so I don't think its that much of a stretch.

okay, ignoring the fact that you seem to think voluntary nudity (not for kids but otherwise perfectly okay) and killing enemies in war (a necessary evil) are on the same level as rape (basically the most evil thing you can do to a single person.), did you seriously just include Mass Effect's awkward nudity-free "sex scenes" (which do not involve actual sex) in a list of things you think are as bad as rape? Would you mind explaining the thought process behind that for me because I am genuinely very confused at the moment.

To fix a couple mistakes, it's Last House on the Left. And the main version of I Spit on Your Grave I was referring to was the original. There is no background music, so it makes it harder for you to take the rape scenes.

All the more reason why It shouldn't trivialized and used as a plot device just because "haha fiction". Most writers do not know the actual weight of the event... It is a degrading, traumatizing and triggering event that will forever haunt the victim's life and shouldn't be glorified or objectified in any f*cking (even porn) way. Most of YOU just don't seem to grasp the gravity of it. Just because this work of fiction doesn't save it from grace. As you said characters are rape victims in games like heavy rain where children are abused and brutally murdered but its just a game in form of entertainment like watching a psychological-thriller movie

DmC is supposed to be a different take then other DMC games so trying something new shouldn't be wrong remember its a freaking M rated GAME everything goes.... just a mild sub-plot won't hurt me because i would expect mature things in an M rated game
