Metal Gear Rising VS DmC

When the main web site and developers of the game call the game a rebirth/reimagining, what reason do you have to call the game a reboot?

I never said MGR is a stealth game. I said there was stealth in it. However, you said there couldn't be stealth in a hack'n slash game which there seems to be in MGR, hence why you are incorrect in that statement.

Thank you, that is all I wanted to know. ^^
I said that their could not be stealth in a hack'n slash game because there is not. Watch the trailers, Raiden runs by people, very loudly, who have their backs turned and are, apparently, deaf and stabs them in the back.
In any case, we have different opinions of what stealth is, but if you buy MGR wanting to sneak by people, then you will be thoroughly dissapointed

Stealth gameplay is an extremely subjective term, as I said before. At its core all stealth really is is killing an unaware enemy.

I suppose the best way to describe it is "stealth gameplay" is different than "stealth elements."

I thought I'd bring this up again because in Chaos Raiden's review of DmC he stated it had "outdated graphics" from what I remember but after seeing the boss battle with the Metal Gear Ray DmC has far superior graphics.... this is fact. I still like MGR and am not hating on it!

I dunno, I think MGR has better graphics than DmC, but DmC's are still move visually appealing. DmC's graphics are also in line with the current gen, so I'd say that guy is going a bit overboard. DmC does in fact look better than plenty of launch games, soooooo...can't be "outdated."

Granted, I also don't give a frump about graphics, having grown up with gaming and seen oh-so-much worse.

I agree that graphics aren't the be-all or end-all but I don't think MGR has better graphics but I suppose that's just my opinion :)

*shrug* Either way, DmC's graphics aren't outdated. I wonder if he knows what that word means, or if he just said it because he knows it's bad.

No offence to the guy - I'm sure he's cool and all - but his name give away his allegence to MGR and DmC is it's only real competion.

rebirth just feels like a hollow word thrown around that they never explained.

I would say its more of a combination of reboot/re-imagining as it has elements of both.

I was let down by Rising honestly due to the fact that as it's been pointed out it relies to heavily on the cutting mechanic to carry the game. The combos aren't all that deep and I found myself using the same one again and again non stop to get through it. The environments while pretty were also pretty base. The only thing Rising actually was better then DmC for me at was it's soundtrack. (I don't mind the DmC one but I LOVE the Rising one) Otherwise DmC all day. (Though I am getting both day one but if I had to pick one it would be DmC)

Exactly. Everyone keep trying to throw MGR up against DmC, but they're very different action games, and MGR doesn't have the same kind of combat as DmC, at all. MGR still feels a lot like a Metal Gear game to me, where combat is more about quick execution than free-form stylish combos like DmC.

Yeah I feel that playing DmC will be about looking badass where as Rising will be about being efficient.

I'm with you there. MGS and DMC are two of my biggest favorites, but I think they're too dissimilar to compare, really :x

A lot of the "anti-DmC" crowd likes to try and point out how MGR will be a better DMC game, but...it's not,
This is a true statement. It's two different types of games no matter what anyone says. So it cannot be compared.

The reason why they are different is because one plays like Assassins creed with gears of war camera work (right up in the back) and features extreme slow-mo and different enemies, fighting styles, weapons, and so on. The other plays with a stand-off camera that gives you a wide angle view of the battlefield, has WAY different battle techniques, combos, styles, game mechanics, and so on.

a hack-n-slash is decided on the mechanics of the game itself like Bayonetta, DMC, and God of War. There are some hack-n-slash elements in MGR but it is not a hack-n-slash game in full. it's a "Stealth Action" game.

MGR is not even close to a "stealth action" game. It is literally the love child of Bayonetta and Vanquish. Hell they call the slow slicing mode AR mode in the achievements which was what it was called in Vanquish. You can use stealth but its usually just one-hit kills you can do, and MGR has closed off fighting areas like DMC and Bayonetta. I also heard in a podcast from a guy who played 1/2 to 2/3 of the game and he said stealth was limited to a couple areas (but you can still use stealth kills on anyone you sneak up on). I'd say that MGR also gives me a god hand vibe where you play more for the combat than doing stylish combos on people like DMC.

Also regarding look it's probably personal preference but MGR maintains that good character model, sterile environmental feel of MGS4 (even though it isn't on the fox engine). I'm fine with that seeing God Hand had terrible environments as well (though they were interesting). DmC does have superior looking environments but one thing I don't like is the oversaturation of red and the overuse of bloom. Just doesn't sit right with me in terms of comfort but it does look nice. And obviously both games have tearing on their less superior systems (Xbox for MGR and PS3 for DmC).

I've said it before and I'll say it again; Metal Gear Rising is really just the Cyborg Ninja VR Missions with that Platinum Games flair. Seriously, anyone who has played both MGR (or the demo) and VR Missions should understand what I'm talking about.

These guys explain perfectly on what you guys are trying to say.
