It's outright stated in DMC 5 that Dante killed Vergil

And he was somehow alive after it , maybe the sparda bloodline can't be permanently killed due to their powers who knows

Wouldn't those 3 be overkill against sparda lol

Dante could best him on his own , although be one doozy of a fight as we only know of some of spardas powers

Plus he no longer has his sword since Dante combined it with rebellion[\spoiler]

It'd be nice to see Sparda truly alive, but hiding in the shadows. Even under an alias. Watching over his children.

Nico only said she heard that Dante killed Vergil once. The event somehow passed through many people's interpretation within the lore.

DMC1's statement of Sparda's death though, is not the fallible account of an unrelated character in the story, it comes from an external, super partes narrator. It pretty much functions as word of God.

ok than I'm back with my idea, what about son/daughter of Mundus as next villain? Mundus and Sparda were almost equal in power tiers, it could be that s/he rises up to the Dante/Vergil level?

Plot twist of sparda having a dark twin might be cool idea

Be like Dante and Vergil but with sparda

Maybe said brother could have been sealed by sparda and the seal breaks

They already kinda did that with Berial and Dante showed him the what for.
I would like more human like enemy, instead of just giant demon. Besides Belial was pushover according to
King Ceberus

Would any of you see him send a fragment of his soul into our world, where he'll take over a new human with a dark heart as his vessel?

We should see Mundus fight with a sword!

I like the idea of Sparda having another family before he rebelled. So they would end up going after Dante/Vergil but that feels too corny.

I don't really see Mundus having kids or possessing a human vessel. Maybe he should possess Sparda's corpse or use it to make a new body?

Well it's possible Mundus had other generals , with at least one being on par with sparda

Said general could be sealed by Mundus to stop any more uprisings

Just a hypothetical to think about

Maybe that general went mad in captivity and upon release hates sparda and wants to kill his descendants and all humans

If he is at the same level he was on mallet island they wouldn't even need to team up , Dante or Vergil could take him solo.

Mundus would be a great fight for Nero to prove himself against though , and it brings it full circle as technically Mundus fights a sparda twins descendant that way

Haha I know they could take him solo but I just had this vision of Mundus being like “I’ve returned” and Dante and Vergil just teaming up because they know it would take even less time to take him down together just to shut Mundus up and get him out of the way.

Also that’s a great idea. Maybe the next game or a spin-off game featuring just Nero could focus on him fighting Mundus or something. It shouldn’t be something that follows along the main story but would be as you said a way for Nero to further prove himself. Can you imagine Mundus returning and Nero goes after him to take him down the conversation would be like “Dante wasn’t lying he DID have a son” and Nero would reply “I’m not Dante’s son you overgrown idiot. I’m Vergil’s”.

Honestly they kinda of squandered any chance to reintroduce Mundus since Vergil is back and now "good". They could give Mundus an offspring like in the reboot also since Sparda has his own cult of worshipers I'm surprised Mundus doesn't have one as well.

The only way Mundus could become stronger now is if he had a fruit salad XD.

I would prefer a new emperor, since Trish said Mundus used the fruit of the tree to become emperor

Maybe a new one could come out of the demon world , although if Dante and Vergil are in there that is highly unlikely

At this stage Mundus would be insignificant to Dante at his current power

If he was to come back though , a space fight would be cool again I guess, as for how he comes back I guess he would break the seal Dante put on him

To me that sounds like outright statement that new emperor will come along instead of Mundus. Though I do not see why Mundus has to be insignificant compared to Dante - I'd rather prefer that DMC avoid the whole Villain Forgot To Level Grind trope. It is too overused. That being said, maybe he can be replaced, or it may turn out that Mundus was a figurehead all along and there was someone behind the scenes pulling the strings? So Nero gets to kick Mundus' ass this time around, while Dante deals with the real threat. Pretty much what Lord of Darkness wrote.

And can Dante and Vergil really watch over demon world on their own? I mean, demon world cannot be small, I don't know what they are planning to do in there other than have fun, but 90% of demons should be able to cross without encountering the twins - unless there is only one or two exits, which I very much doubt. Dante implied as much in DMC5 when he wanted Nero to stay behind - "It's because you are here that we can go" (yeah, I spoiled myself with game cutscenes on Youtube since that is as close as I'll get to playing the game for now).
